Growing up in a roaming band of well... bandits, one didnt tend to live in anything besides tents and for Emily Kaldwin that had been exactly the case. There had been one or two trips with her mother where they ahd gotten to stay in decent hotel rooms but beyond that the girl didn't have any experience without housing, or relistate as a whole: So imagine her surprise when her Pikachu had pointed out a need for realters positions, Corvo pointing out that maybe Emily could handle this kind of thing.
I don't see how I can... she had thought but Corvo had argued it. Who better to help someone find a house then someone who wants one themselves? Keep the things you'd like in a house of your own in mind and help those who need homes find their dream houses." He'd made a good point and an even better one moments later when he'd pointed out the payment she would get if she succeeded: She needed the money right now, more then she would have liked to need it.
The trip to orientation had been quick enough, so too had the orientation itself. She had been given a list f a few low cost houses to sell in the town; laughed at a bit for being "some damn kid" with weird ambitions." By some of hte other newbie house sellers, and of course she'd been shown how to show off a house, give hte guided tours or less guided tours if the perspective buyers wanted them. She had been told what was and was not alright to say and eventually given a code to lock boxes to be actually able to show off the houses.
She'd had 3 appointments for hte same house that day though the first had never shown up and the second had canceled last minute on her, they'd found a place they liked better apparently. That was fine, she still had the third one to run with.
"This can't be that hard..." she muttered to herself, finger skimming down the list of appointments she had managed to book for the next few hours throughout the day. The first meeting was in about ten minutes so she stood outside the house, adjusting the little red vest she had been given to show her temperaroy career, glancing briefly at the name tag with her name stamped on it. She felt oddly... professional? "Excuse me? We're uh... here to meet a Miss Kaldwin have you seen her?" The man's voice drew her attention and the fourteen year old looked up at the man who stood at about 5.4ft... Wow, he was way taller then she was. "Oh... oh my." the man's wife spoke up almost in surprise and shock as her eyes landed on the girl's nametag. "Honey I think this is Miss Kaldwin. she offered up to her spouse, pointing to the tag on the girl's vest. The man gawked at her for a few long moments. "By...but she's just a kid..." And a very short kid at that thank him very much! "Heh yeah sorry for the shock here but I know what I'm doing." Emily assured quickly while inwardly shooting herself in the foot. No you don't! They were just really desperate for workers. That's the only reason they would have allowed a damn fourteen year old to do this!" she told herself, pulling the keys out of her pocket and sticking them into the door knob.
The house showing had gone smoothly after the innitial shock of a 14 year old Neapolitan haired girl being their agent had worn off: They seemed to like her and the way she had ended up describing the aspects of hte house, the enthusiasm and willingness to help with design alterations or acquisition of new things for the house, updating hte kitchen and the like only made them like her better. The kitchen did need updating but she had worded it as Charming and Retro cool, the closet in the master bedroom was a freaken walk-in that could fit both of them, Emily herself and far far more Pokemon or people then either the couple, or the teenager had on them. The houes showing had been fun for all involved.
Emily Kaldwin had done well for her first showing.
She had promised to meet the duo at a coffee shop if they wanted to work out a good price for hte place; it was listed a bit too high for what it was worth after all and the mortgage that would be needed to be paid according to the price listed wasn't something the couple could aford at the time. She was their agent; it was her job to help them negotiate and stuff to get what was best for both them, and the seller of the place.
It had taken four different phone calls back and forth with the sellers, the seller's agent and the couple that wanted to buy the house: They had almost bought it for asking price but had been stopped just barely by Emily. "The price is too high, according to the budget you have here you'd be paying almost double what you can aford right now." shed informed them. "How do you know that?" the wife had asked and Emily had pulled out her phone, brought up their budget, some math involving the current sell price and total mortgage and then a website that compared prices. "This site has similar properties in the same area and near by ones, as well as how they were priced and what updates they might continuain. You said you love the house but it needs a few things updated and a replacement furnace and that costs money:" Both nodded in silence as the teenager explained on. "You wouldn't have enough money to replace what needs replacing and pay the mortgage at the price they are asking for. IF you want to try and bring the house price down a bit we can try and make that work." she explained.
They'd agreed and after a while had worked out a price they were more comfortable with. The previous owners hadn't been able to pay their own mortgage after making the renovations they had wanted and the houes had been put up for foreclosure: Everyone seemed to forget that you needed a little thing called money to get the houes you dreamed of. Money was needed for everything and houses were no acception.
The teenager had wound up getting the houses to a good price for hte couple who had actually shown up; in the process learning the first guy had bailed that day because he'd not been able to aford nearly as close t the asking price as would have been acceptable. "Congradulations guys, you got your house." she'd said over the cup of coffee she had ordered. The couple had beamed at her and half an hour after that the trio had separated. She'd totally done it!
------
That had been three weeks ago now and since then Emily had lost that job, or rather she had quite it: Not that most people seemed to take the short fourteen year old seriously as any sort of saleswoman or any kind! Still she had done what she'd set out to do and that was fine: Now it was time to move on.
