It was Christmas Eve morning in Veria and there was an unmistakable energy in the air. A holiday season inspired the people of Veria with a warmness that could fight the harshest of cold fronts, the thankfulness of loved ones both family and friends. Truly a magical time of year, whose true meaning would forever live on in the hearts of the children.
"Presents!"
Young Mackenzie of Carvella was bouncing on her bed full of excitement, not hearing (ignoring) her mother's protests for her to stop. The mother doing her best to focus on how her usual grumpy daughter seemed so alive this morning, and not on how she was about to break her box spring.
She quickly typed out a text message as she stressed the limits of her bed, the third this morning to the same recipient.
This third text's recipient was currently sleeping in room 301 of the Twilight Inn in Aleal. It was a well-off motel and this room had been occupied by her and her companion for over a week now. It still looked clean but with a layer of organized chaos on top. Papers strewn about everywhere with some crumbled and tossed away. Files full of more sitting in a stack. A large map taped to the wall with the words, "Delibrd Flight Patterns!" written on top and many rough lines all going various directions above Aleal.
The third text in 5 minutes was finally enough to wake Harper, the loud tone and vibration simply being too powerful to ignore even if she had been up nearly all night. She moved her bed hed hair out her face and blinked a few times, focusing on the sender of the message and the time, and groaned without opening the message.
"Good morning, young lady~" A far too cheerful and awake voice came from the table across the room spoke, directed at her, became the source of all her ever-shifting morning rage.
Harper curled herself up defensively under the covers. The cold morning air made her not want to get out the beautiful small pocket of warm she had cultivated all night. The playful but jeering voices of Alealites entering her mind as she did... taunting her for finding this weather cold. The warmest holiday season since forever, they said.
Bah humbug!
She quickly pulled herself out of bed and slammed her feet quickly in a pair of Wigglytuff slippers and made herself breakfast, glancing over at her companion Clint, who seemed to have no trouble getting up on time and was watching the morning news while drinking coffee.
She tried her best to forget the embarrassing spot the local news they kept running about her search... her search for Santa.
Sure, it sounded silly if you just said it like that. But it honestly really wasn't. There were files and files of reports from parents and orphanages reporting gifts behind without having any idea who sent them. Although many discounted these stories as fake, used to give the myth flavor, they had the evidence. The interviews. These were no tall tales.
The local Delibrd acted extremely strange as well, which her UPIN (Unidentifed Pokemon Information Network) had been documenting for years now. They flew out further than they used to and seemed to occasionally vanish into thin air. Harper had spent the good last few days trying to follow some back deep into the wilderness of Aleal... but to no luck. Then the fact that many of the recipients who received gifts didn't even recall falling asleep on Christmas Eve as if lulled to sleep by some sort of mysterious force.
But no, the news painted her as some starry-eyed kid just wanting to meet her holiday hero. They only cared about the fluff. No one ever took her seriously.
..."I know that he's really real... I just know it!"
She shriked loud enough for her neighbors to her, realizing she wasn't just imagining the sound of her own squeaky voice, but it was actually playing from the TV. Again!?
Fellow UPIN member and friend of her fathers Clint flashed her a cheeky grin, his eyes sharpening as he could tell she was about to charge. He took it as a challenge. He stood up and held the remote high, chuckling as she jumped and attempted to grab the remote from him.
"Why did you even come!? I don't why Papa thought you were so great! You keep getting tired too early! Old man!"
They continued this back and forth for a moment before they both turned their heads, hearing the door knock. Harper's voice became shy, "Hello?" Sounding a bit embarrassed, assuming it was someone coming to complain about the noise!
A middle-aged man and a perky blonde haired kid walked out of the Twlight Inn hotel, dressed for success. They had navigated breakfast, an awkward conversation with room service... but now they were ready for their biggest challenge yet. Finding Santa Claus. The snow was thick, and with every step, the little girl crunched the snow beneath her. Honestly, she was a bit too bundled up and moved about awkwardly. You had to be prepared though! The little girl pulled out a pair of strange looking goggles that made even goofier sounds and lights. "No sign of anything again today.. you sure are crafty Santa." It certainly was not that these goggles never spotted any mystical energy. Clint, her companion, chuckled. "You don't do this for generations without being careful, I suppose." He laughed. He was always laughing. Harper thought he laughed way too much. She kept walking, and he asked again. "You sure we shouldn't wait for guests? Didn't you try to get a guide? And ask for "everyone who believes to join!" as well?" He smirked, bringing up the dumb news spot again. "They'll come. They have to." She said, stomping forward. A bundle of bright pink with a cute Santa cap on her head. Her companion followed. OOC:Clint's FC is Yousuke Koiwai from Yotsuba, and he is wearing a gawdy Santa sweater and otherwise normal clothes. His general personality should be playful, a little too goofy, lazy, and his current general goal is to distract us as much as possible. He has Christmas themed Pokemon (at least a Delibrd and a Stantler) and isn't afraid to use them to stir up trouble and distract us. Although I have plans of my own feel free to change them, keep me on my toes, and also put some in of your own! I have a direction for us but it's always more fun with some twists and turns! If you have any and all questions about the NPC should act please go on, but I'll correct you if somehow we run into an issue. If you need a response from Harper to make your post more flowing and don't want to do a back and forth, please feel free to ask me over Discord (Angel #9850) or whatever and I will give you the info you need. Whatever you need to do to get yourself involved, you have permission.

Aurora found herself in quite a predicament, although it was an utterly adorable and funny one. She had just been hired... or rather, ‘hired’; she knew the Aleal wilderness like the back of her hand by now, and although she didn’t have a whole lot of time to spare – especially during the holidays – she still offered herself as a guide and aid for people that were trapped in the Aleal wilderness or needed to go into them for whatever reason. Heck, by this point, she was part Ranger! But, she couldn’t help herself; whether it was the icy waters, the snowy forests, or the whiteout mountains, it was all beautiful to her. She had some time to spare today, so when someone had contacted her about this very... interesting mission, she couldn’t help but clear out the rest her schedule. This person wanted her to help someone find Santa, and not just some random girl, but the same girl that has been on the news for the past couple of days. In fact, that girl looked familiar, but she couldn’t quite place her. Regardless, Aurora was ready; she had her team chosen, some ones that have the skill she would need, and even a couple of other Pokémon that could use the chance for experience, if she ran into it. She wasn’t wearing her normal outfit, either; she was wearing her ice suit, a gray and black bodysuit that could handle whatever the wild could throw at her. She doubted that they would run into much trouble, but it was blizzard season. It was better to be prepared. Heaving a backpack onto her shoulders and putting a smile on her face, she headed out of her gym. Aurora HalloranIt didn’t take her long to find the people she needed to. She smiled, waving at them as she ran through the snow. “Heeeey! I was just heading over to where you guys asked me to meet up with you!” She stopped when she caught up to them, smiling down at the little investigator, her voice a little teasing, using the same sort of tone she tended to use with children. “Someone got too excited to meet Santa and rushed out, huh?”

[Can't wait anymore, sorry! Going to proceed with Aurora and I think Mia still, you can recontact me if you want to be squeezed in.]
Harper was always a little thrown off by a pretty face, and the embarrassment... "Hello Miss.." She said, trying to ignore the tone of voice used for the time being.
Which became impossible as Clint spoke up again. "Oh, of course! It's all she can talk about!" He grinned. "That and getting to be on the news." He put his hands behind his head and flashed Aurora a pleasant grin.
He pulled a map full of trajectory lines, "We were noticing that Delibrd activity... I mean, plenty of people find it cute to send presents with them this year, but a good flock of them have been coming and going and sort of vanishing deep within the woods over here. We got lost trying to go in further and were hoping someone of your expertise might help."
He pulled the map in closer, ignoring that Harper was trying to involve herself in the conversation. "We noticed there might be some hills and a series of caves over here, do you know anything about them? How much do you think we'll be able to explore before nightfall?"
A snowball suddenly pelt Clint in the face, coming from Harper's fist... but he deftly ignored it. "Since someone always complains about getting tired so early." He totally nudged his head accusingly in her direction, which was one step too far! Too far!
Harper grabbed another snow and pelted him again. "Yeah! You! You do!" He squealed and hid behind Aurora, "Lead us away from the snow monster~" he teased, nudging her playfully.

Aurora gave the little girl a smile warm when she greeted her, giving her a friendly wave before Clint caught her attention with a map, leaning over it with him. She giggled at his comment about the Delibird – it wasn’t untrue, especially since she was one of those people herself! “Oh, yeah, out there things tend to look the same a little bit, not surprised that you got lost. The caves are less of a worry, I know them, but I brought supplies, some food, some lights, things like that. I didn’t pack too much, but we can at least camp in the caves overnight if you guys REALLY wanna stay out that long. It’s a bad idea this time of year, but we’ll be fine if we go into the caves with a source of heat.” She nodded firmly, shifting her backpack again. “I made sure to bring just about any supplies we might need, just in case.” Hopefully, she thought, it wouldn’t have to come to that. The only real reason she could think of that they were need such a thing was if a blizzard hit them suddenly – aside from the little one refusing to stop looking – but, the weather said that a blizzard was unlikely. Better prepared than not when it came to things like blizzards. Aurora smiles softly, reassuring any worries Clint might have, “Don’t worry, I doubt we’ll need these supplies, but better safe than sorry. We’ll probably be able to search the caves before nightfall any-OH!” Aurora jolted when a snowball suddenly hit Clint in the face, whirling to Harper in surprise. She busted out giggling as Clint and Harper went at each other, suddenly being used as cover while Harper threw snowballs at her. “Ahahah! No! Stop! Stop pelting me! I’ll take you out to search if you stop pelting me! Stoooop~!” Aurora yelled through her laughter, holding her arms and leg up to try to protect herself and Clint.

Harper felt honestly a bit embarrassed that she had hit the beautiful lady with a snowball and tried to play it off. "I.. I didn't mean to! It's..."
She huffed and crossed her arms over chest, Clint could only shrug at Aurora and give her a confused look. He leaned in and whispered to Aurora. "You're involved, right? I'm going to use Rudolph and friends to distract her today." He flashed a thumbs up at the Aleal community leader. Oh yeah. It was go time.
Harper seemed almost too quiet for a moment, her eyes closed. She took a deep breath and then suddenly turned around. The look on her face a moment ago had been so pouty, so it was strange to see her suddenly look so... happy? Clint took a step back even, looking nervous.Oh no. He didn't trust this sudden change in attitude at all...
She walked up to Aurora and grabbed her hand, giggling. "Let's go, let's go Miss! I wanna see Santa! Let's go!" She tugged her the best she could, "We can't stay too late Miss, Santa has-ta deliver presents tonight! I gotta be in bed, right Uncle?"
Clint nodded, grinning like an idiot. "That's right! That's right! We have to dash! We have to run!" Oh.. oh no! Taking on a goofy and exaggerated running pose, thrusting his arms and legs out wildly, Clint rushed forward. His goofy Christmas sweater with the bells jangling until he was already out of sight!
"Wait for meeee and Miss!" she wailed, trying once more to tug Aurora along.

Aurora let out a sigh of relief as the pelting stopped, still giggling as she brushed herself off. She gave Harper a smile to reassure her; a couple of snowballs never hurt anybody; they were fun! Before she could reply, though, Clint whispered in her ear, making her smile and nod quietly. She thought it was absolutely wonderful that he was going out of his way to keep the spirit of Santa alive in in this beautiful little girl... who was still really familiar to her for some reason. She was literally pulled out of her thoughts when the young blonde suddenly grabbed her hand. She giggled, letting herself be pulled along. “Oh, of course, how silly of me to think we might be out here all night!” She laughed and giggled at Harper and Clint’s antics, and being pulled along into them. She really did feel silly, but then again, if she didn’t prepare, she’d end up worrying about it. With supplies handled, she could be totally focused on the fun, and what fun this was gonna be! Aurora giggled wildly, running with Harper to try to catch up with Clint. “Yeah! Let’s find Santa and thank him for everything he does~!”

Harper nodded, beaming a lovely holiday smile at Aurora, her small mittened hand gripping tight. A strange sort of fuzziness was starting to wrap her head, and something about the gesture brought her comfort.
They continued onwards as a fresh coat of snow started to fall behind them, making Harper thankful that they had brought this guide. It was likely their footprints wouldn't be around for too long. Clint's footsteps, however, were still followable... but it was starting to get shocking how far he had gotten to! The path Clint's footprints took them was in the middle of plenty of trees, quickly taking them away from the town.
A quick turn, however, brought forth Clint's first surprise. For a few minutes, Harper had sworn she could hear jingle bells, but thought her fuzzy feeling head was just getting wrapped up in the season. But no! One of the At first the patch of trees looked like any other but dressed up for the holidays. Glittering gold lights, tinsel, and shimmering balls dangling on the branches. But then they turned around and...
A Sudowoodo! A Trevenant!
The Pokemon had bright smiles and looked overjoyed to see them, and Harper couldn't help but grin. "Oh! Look! Look! Christmas Tree Pokemon! We have to be getting close, right?" She giggled at the Pokemon, and they waved back. However, when they moved closer... The Trevenant tossed one of his dangling baubles at them, purposefully missing... but it burst in a shimmering and glittering Will-O-Wisp, making Harper cling to Aurora defensively.
"Ah!" She squealed, but smiled as the trees smiled back and jangled their bells... but they tossed out another when they approached again. "Ah!"
(A Trevenant and a Sudowoodo appeared! They don't seem to be trying to hurt you, but they don't want you to move much further! Did anyone bring a Pokemon? Or maybe a SquirtBottle?!)

Aurora’s heart fluttered when Harper gave her that special smile that the holidays gave people, the sort of smile that seemed to only happen during the holiday season; even with all the happiness in the world, holiday smiles just had that extra bit of magic you just couldn’t touch. She giggled as Harper tugged her along, keeping up with her easily as they tried to follow her friend into the snow. For a moment, she forgot what they were doing, just getting swept up in Harper’s youthful energy, in the holiday spirit, just enjoying what really felt like happiness, pure and undiluted. Even the Pokémon appearing didn’t completely register to her; being around Pokémon was normal for her, both in and out of the city, so at first, she just assumed they were wild Pokémon getting into the spirit, which wasn’t unheard of in Aleal. The sudden attack made her go defensive, though, putting her arms around Harper when the Pokémon attacked. Aurora’s gut reaction was ‘dangerous wild Pokémon’, but the smiles from the Pokémon made her rethink that, and she smirked softly, just subtle enough to hide it from Harper, pulling out a Dream Ball and winking at the Pokémon, giving them a signal that she was in on their plan. Still, while a battle was usually nice, she didn’t really want to hurt the Pokémon; they were just a distraction, after all. So, instead, she patted Harper on the shoulder, throwing out her Dream Ball and releasing, in a swirling burst of almost glittering pink light, an Alolan Ninetales, or a Tundra Ninetales, as it was better known as in her circles. “Harper, I’ll distract them, you run around them! I’ll catch up as soon as I can, alright? Dustie, Dazzling Gleam!”Her Pokémon let out a harmonious cry, one that was soft, but sweet and almost sing-song, gazing at the opponent Pokémon before his entire body started to glitter, releasing a beautiful burst of light... that was suspiciously weak, although it definitely LOOKED strong. Obviously Aurora’s Pokémon was in on the plan, too.
