Pushing the throttle on his boat as they sailed between the buildings into a larger street that likely used to be used as some form of market place, Shaun wondered what he'd run into out here in the thicker waters. A group of mantine dancing through the waves managed to catch his eye, and a cheeky smirk crossed his lips as he turned the boat around to face the surf pokemon side on, Carvanha circling round the boat as Ruck came to land in on the roof.

"Mantine...those things are pretty popular thanks to the Alolan surfing craze right?" Ruck gave a light nod while Carvanha blindly shrugged, unaware of human trends. "We could probably catch a few and make a quick mint! Better than hauling back a tonne of scrap right!?~"

The pokemon agreed, and while Ruck wasn't much of a fighter, Shaun had some back up for Carvanha he'd bought from a breeder in Caravella on a brief trip over to sell some spare scrap. Pulling the pokeballs out of his coat, he released the still unamed Poliwag and Squirtle, pocketing the empty balls and dipping his head towards the mantine horde. "You guys think you can help?~"

The two pokemon gave quick nods before diving into the water, moving out towards the surf pokemon. Rushing in ahead, Carvanha lept over the group and into the middle, managing to majorly scare the pokemon he was facing with a loud growl and force them to scatter, swimming after one or two of the slower ones swiftly, taking a big crunch out of each of them before moving on to find some more, Shaun already getting his pokeballs ready to catch the leftovers.

The Squirtle and Poliwag were small and inexperienced, but each of them had some good moves they were born into, the squirtle specifically generated a ring of water around itself defensively before charging up an aura sphere as it swam towards the group, firing the orb to home in on a fast Mantine, just managing to stagger it enough to let the squirtle itself catch up, the turtle pokemon leaping over the back of it, and using the surf pokemon as a platform as it rushed between the others, firing off another two aura spheres to detract the closest mantine, charging a third for a strong shot, only for Carvanha to leap out of the water and steal his 'kill' with a harsh crunch attack.

Poliwag was left with just one straggler, and while he was easily one of the weaker pokemon in the group, he managed to throw out a strong hydro pump into the head of the mantine, forcing it under the water. It wasn't all that effective perhaps, but it was enough to make a ball seem worthwhile to throw. He dove under the water to see if he could get some more out of the mantine only for the tendrils of a Frillish to drag it down deeper than it had expected. A horrific night shade managed to send a tingle of fright into the tiny poliwag, but a returned scary face from a saving Carvanha pushed the frillish back and away, the poliwag allowed the opportunity to give the Frillish a harsh strike, red flashes flilling the water soon after as Shaun made his captures.

Breathing into his hands to warm up, leaning over the edge of his boat as it sailed casually along a long road, Shaun was keeping a careful eye out for anything worth while, the soft sqwuak of Ruck catching his attention as the small bird flew over to the edge of the boat Shaun was resting against, the tiny bird landing between his hands and tucking them each beneath his wings, bringing an affectionate smirk from the man, who in turned leaned forward to nuzzle just above the bird's eyes. "Thanks bud."

"Carvan!"

"Hm?"

Peering over the edge of the boat, Shaun spotted his Carvanha calling out to announce he'd found something. "Oh er...sure. Just bring us it back if its a pokemon year? I am not getting out of this boat for a catch." He gave a light nod to Ruck and picked him up in his hands. "We're going inside so knock on the hull."

Finding that acceptable, the pirahna fish dove back beneath the waves to swim towards the pokemon he'd spotted before. The finneon in the water playing about with a Spheal who'd found a resting space atop some old rubble. Deciding to strike swiftly, he shot out of the water, fangs bared as he dove back down over the head of the Finneon with a harsh crunch, hoping to take the smaller of the two pokemon out quickly...though really it was hard to tell which of the two was actually smaller.

Rising back out of the water, after leaving the Finneon on the street somewhere he could easily retrieve them, the carvanha teased the Spheal with a gnashing of it's fangs, dipping to the side as it let out a cold blast of air towards it in the form of the powder snow. It may have been able to freeze over some of the water, but Carvanha could easily take advantage of their typings, leaping out of the water and taking the Spheal back with it in another crunch attack, using its land based form to the carvanha's own advantage as it dragged the spheal beneath the water, crunching harder as it struggled, getting it ready to take back to shaun.
