There was only so much you could do with bug type Pokemon when they were young. If you weren't careful, you run a risk of being utterly flattened by the opposing pokemon. The trick was to be careful as they grew stronger. They'd grow to defend themselves better and for now? He was going to raise up his Joltik for the time being.
With a shivering wimpod on his shoulder, Addy traversed the grounds without hesitation. One hand rested on the back of his shoulder riding companion and pet him slowly, attempting to comfort the terrified pokemon to the best of his abilities. With a heavy sigh, he grabbed a ball and let out his Joltik. Just him, for now. As they went on, he may change his mind. If there was an option where if Argasidae needed back up, Lepismatidae may be able to provide something until he couldn't take any more beatings.
Adrian also needed training in his own right. He really needed to use their nickname's nickname more often. Calling out a short hand version of their name would help in the long run. At least that's what his father suggested... and it was embarrassing to have something that was so simple and obvious to be handed to him by his father when he was this old already...

Ah, yes, of course. He should've expected this really, but this was a sort of double whammy. Luckily, Arga had a good moveset to help him combat their current situation. Watching as the giggling ghost formed in front of them, Addy frowned at the tone of the giggle and took a couple of steps back. "How malicious of you. Arga, thunder wave!" No point in waiting around.
The ghost seemed to be taken a bit off guard by the knee jerk reaction and preparedness that this human was showing. It's like their sudden appearance didn't spook them at all! With an angry puff of his cheeks, the Litwick tried to shake off the paralysis to no avail. The thunder wave had done it's job and now the Litwick sat there, shaking mid-attack.
Addy grinned at the evil look the ghost was giving him and chuckled. "Trust me hunny, momma trains ghosts that make you look like an adorable, unhatched egg. Arga, Signal Beam!" It wouldn't do much damage, but there was a chance to confuse, and it'd whittle away damage before they revealed their super effective move. He couldn't risk it getting disabled or something this early on.
The paralysis was obviously still bothering the Litwick, but that didn't stop it from finally getting an attack out. While his Wimpod started to cling and stick to him like his life depended on it, Arga was surrounded by whirling flames, the tiny bug type obviously in distress. Well this was gonna suck, horribly, especially if that sudden amount of heat building up off of the Litwick was any sort of warning. Frowning, he looked back to the Joltik and grit his teeth, he needed to stop what was happening.
"Electro Web!" It was more effective than the signal beam, and thankfully, it worsened the paralysis for just a second, stunning it and shutting down the attack it was building up. That was good. He watched as the fire spin continued and the litwick got closer this time, fading in behind the Joltik, obviously wanting to get some sort of sneak attack in.
He mentally praised the intelligence of the ghost type in question before tilting his head a bit towards Arga. "Sucker Punch!" He'd hope that the temperature rising was an actual attack, and not just the ghost getting angry. But apparently, that was the truth. As the Litwick blew out an intense wall of flames, Arga was able to snap in and throw a..... hook? Bug punch. He just bug punched the ghost type with Sucker Punch. It was hard to describe, and Addy was pleased to watch as the Litwick was knocked back, obviously shooken from the super effective attacking having come from such a small Pokemon.
"You'll make a good Galvantula, I'm telling you." He shrugged, watching as the Litwick got back up then... what the hell was it doing? All of a sudden, his Joltik was on the ground, obviously feeling ill. "One more electro web, chase it off!" It didn't have much left in it, but neither did Arga. Watching a second web launch towards the wild Litwick and strike it, he waited until it was faded away for him to run over to his Joltik and pick him up, immediately putting him back into the ball.
Whatever that thing did, it was no fun. Frowning, he started walking with the ball in his hand, his other arm clinging to his Wimpod who had witnessed it all, and now wanted nothing to do with that.

Training against your resistances was easier only in the meaning that Adrian trained one of the types with the most resistances. It was easier simply because finding a pokemon with a resistance was raised exponentially thanks to it. But everything else about it sucked if he wasn't careful. For example, this Yamask that had come up to them shortly after the ordeal with the Litwick. It didn't seem too happy to have watched it's friend get pushed around like that... though Adrian really couldn't call it pushing around. It came rather close there at the end. With a heavy sigh, Addy stepped back to move out of the ghost's way as it gave an aggressive swing towards him.
"Ok. Pagu, time to get some studies in." Keep up the work yourself, he huffed to his self, thankfully remembering to get those nickname's nicknames into practice. Grabbing the proper ball, Addy tossed out his Dwebble and took a good, long look at the ghost type in front of him. There'd definitely be no critical hit evasion here, his poor Dwebble will get mummied almost immediately until the Yamask falls. That was going to get in the way, but not by much if he was careful this time around.
Before he could get a chance to call out an attack though, he was cut short by a dark wind cutting through the crumbling alley way that they had found their selves in. Pagu made a sort of annoyed noise as she ducked down into her shell, tucking her arms and legs inside until the wind came to a halt. "Hmph. Pagu, Feint Attack!" He wasn't going to question the physics behind how quickly a Dwebble could move when they put their mind to it, so he just watched as it happened. Years of trying to figure this out had gotten him nowhere, and it also got the Yamask nowhere as she came up behind it, lashing out but winding up mummified in the process.
Ghost-like bandages wrapped around Pagu, causing her to freak out for a moment as she tucked herself away into her shell... to no avail. Addy frowned as he watched the bandages take their effect and.. yup.. there went her ability. Any critical hits would definitely pack a punch now. "Feint attack, stay on the offensive, aim for the weak points!" It was the best they could do, keep bolting out the super effective attacks until the Yamask went down.
Luckily, that didn't seem like it'd take too long. As the Yamask threw and missed a shadow ball, Pagu moved around to the back of the wild Pokemon and struck him in the mask with a considerable amount of force. It seemed Pagu was a little irritable about something other than her or Addy touching the rock she called her home. As the Yamask faded away, wounded and blacking out, the bandages that covered Pagu began to dissipate, freeing her up and obviously putting the smile back on the bug.
"Good job Pagu. Want to get some walking in?" Addy asked as he held onto his Wimpod, who was still shaking, and began to lead the Dwebble down the path, reaching down to pat her on the shell as a congratulations.
