Dasha raked a couple fingers through her hair as she walked up to Kaimana’s office. She’d… already decided to do this, to go through with this, but here she was walking a little slower, feeling a little more uncertain, and wishing she could just do this some other way all at once. Were feelings like this ever going to really subside? Or had they gotten worse lately? It was… hard to tell somehow. A slow breath drew in and out before her hand raised to knock on his door. She’d wait for whatever response there was before coming in.
She stood in her simple yet refined clothing, her hair up in its usual bun, and some papers under her arm. Walking over to the desk, she’d hold them forward. “The latest reports are done— …” And… c’mon, she could do this just fine. No? Was she just going to turn and leave right out of there now? Dasha stood there for a couple extra seconds fighting herself.

Kai wasn't doing anything of particular note. Reading over a report another agent brought in a little earlier, tapping his good foot rapidly without really thinking about it, feeling vaguely and unspecifically agitated. Several things ate at him lately, but none were a point of specific dwelling just now, more a pile of assorted things sitting nearby that he was trying to avoid thinking about how much he needed to (and didn't want to) deal with.
At the knock, he offered simple permission, and as Dasha held out her forms, he nodded toward his desk and asked, "Just set 'em down there." ..Had he been imagining that she sounded like she stopped a bit short? .. Maybe. His brain was pretty rattled. ...Her lingering did stand out a bit though.
His foot tapping slowed almost to stopping, more an occasional twitch than a full tap now, as he shifted into a borderline concerned state. "Everything all right, Laska?"

Ah, uh, well. No reason not to now with that sort of acknowledgment. Dasha shifted a little, a hand grasping at her pocket and producing a small clear-lid sphere. With her hand wrapped around it, however, it was hard to tell what it was on first glance. “I uhm. Yes, everything is fine. But I… actually, while I was out training IcaughtaPokemonforyou.” Why was she slurring this. Why were her features warm. She was… yes very embarrassed, clearly but.
The hand with the sphere extended, turned over, and flatted. “I know how much Snowflake likes you and how much you like her— and I remember how interested you looked on Mount Lanakila and— and when I saw this one I ….” Arceus fuck, get a grip. Dasha coughed, straightened, and smiled a little. “I hope you like him?” The Absol in the sphere could clearly be seen now staring up.

She didn't look fine? But he'd listen before passing ju--ajwioajfiwj she what?? This-- should not have touched Kai as deeply as it did but.. it'd been quite a while since he'd gotten a Pokemon as a gift (like a real gift, Sable and Ariana were something between parting gifts and a vaguely passive aggressive implication that he couldn't take care of himself without someone to look after him so they didn't really count). And her explanation on the sort of thought behind it only made him more appreciative.
Staring down through the top at the Absol as he took the ball, Kai's face may have been just a hair darker than normal. "--Thank you," he almost sputtered, but barely managed to sound vaguely calm. "I appreciate it a lot." He stared a moment more. "I'll... get to know him more later." They were working and he didn't wanna look like he was looking a gift horse in the mouth checking him out too thoroughly so his hand moved to his jacket pocket--
--and did not even let go of the ball before pulling it back out. "It'slater." As he released the Absol, the Pokemon jumped back a step and looked between the humans warily. "Aren't you a pretty boy..." Kai loudly whisper, ,or maybe said just under his breath.
??? Er... Yes he was a pretty boy but who asked you, human? >.>

The thanks had Dasha's lips quirking up almost immediately. Oh? Ok, ok good. So long as he seemed even reasonably happy and this didn't feel too out of line or out of place, she was happy. Sure, yeah, ok, she was going now and- She stopped in mid step as he spoke and turned to watch this …. entirely too endearing scene play out. Her chest warmed, and her features did a little too but… But this was good. This was nice. She was… vaguely aware Kai was probably not referring to her brush treatment she forced on the Absol before presenting him but was still vaguely proud of that too.
"He's very strong too, catching him was quite a battle," she mumbled under breath. "I actually met him up on one of the floating islands." How long he had been there, if maybe only a day or his entire life for generations, she couldn't know but… It was vaguely fascinating that some of them hosted this man Pokemon.

The Absol was frowning heavily, leaning back a bit with his fur bristling even more than the female human's horrible brush already made it. Ugh he felt like a Furfrou, gross. ...Hearing the human brag about his strength, though, did flatter him a bit though. W-well yeah...
Kai fought to keep his grin at least somewhat subdued. "That so?" He wondered if the Pokemon that lived up there tended to be stronger by necessity or if that was more confirmation bias when one happened to be, but... "Guess you could say he's... top of the Line~?"
The Absol frowned much harder once again. What a wretched sense of humor. Eugh, it was trying to touch him. The Absol recoiled a bit in disdain, but the human kept a very pleasant even expression and moved slowly. ..Mm, at least it did know basic respect? Perhaps it wasn't all bad...
As Kai finally scratched the Absol a bit, the beast slowly started to relax.

Dasha's lips parted. She… actually kind of wanted to laugh at that pun, but it was so bad that it just had the opposite effect. Pffftftftftftf. Pretty sure Liggs is actually the top of the Line- but Faraday was home to Interpol and was a much more advanced part of the Line, yeah? Yeah.
"Well…. I hope you like him and train him more," she spoke a little quieter thereafter, a foot sliding back towards the door. She… didn't want to drag this out as too big a deal when it was… very much an impulsive decision and a simple gift at the end of the day but… yeah.
"Maybe we can train sometime at the Interpol gym." Uhmph, yeah or she could suggest that. "The outdoor areas are very good for that." She was pretty sure Kai already knew this? Given his position and stature. Why was she- Maybe just the thought of not working out alone, yeah….

I hope you like him and train him more. "Definitely," Kai replied with a nod. "Thank you, again." The Absol was gradually settling a bit more and becoming more tolerant of Kai's pets. This.. was not an entirely unpleasant feeling, admittedly.
At Dasha's following offer, though, Kai perked up a bit himself. Train together, was it? Ah~ Sure she'd pretty thoroughly established herself as a friend by now, but an active invitation to spend time together was still very nice. "Absolutely," he agreed. "Always nice to have such pleasant company~" he hummed with a wink.
... Why did he wink? Fuck. He was just. going to pretend that didn't happen, or at least that it didn't vaguely tint the connotation or-- HHH. He was just uh, very intently focused on the Absol now. 8');; Not avoiding looking at her or anything.

Uhm. What. Blue eyes blinked several times in rapid succession. Did she just see that? Dasha could not be sure, but the fact that Kai turned his attention immediately to the Absol again made her suspicious. "….Yeah…." she finally answered, shifting a little from one foot to the other. A slow breath, in and out again. "We both need to be strong for whatever missions come our way." It was … straightforward, almost uncomfortably so. They both already knew that she hardly considered this a game or anything related to it. "Anyways, I … should get back to work." And out of this office, yeah.

Kai nodded without looking up. "Yeah." Maybe invite Sam, he considered saying; maybe that would make it clearer he wasn't-... Maybe Nalani would like to train with us. Like pick something dude anything. ... No?? Okay.
"Should get back to work soon myself." Or that. He gave the Absol a last scratch before recalling him, then spun his chair to turn his focus back to his screen. "See you." Very focused on work now, very much, it wasn't like his eyes were having trouble processing the words they kept going over or anything.
Uuuuuugh he hadn't even-- that had been reflex as much as anything, like-- like a kid calling their teacher 'mom', he swore. But then explaining that would have been debatably even more embarrassing than it just having happened so... yeah. He could probably use a drink, but he'd wait and legitimately focus on work.. for a while, at least.

Dasha hesitated for only a second longer before turning and starting out of the office again. A door opened and closed quietly thereafter. She would… very much busy herself with whatever work was on her desk and promptly 'forget' about her suggestion to do any kind of training or anything for at least a week or more if Kai didn't bring it up again. Just…. yeah. They were both busy and this was clearly part of the work and all. That was just the excuse but clearly the one she was going to go with in this case. Ugh, whatever, right.
