Pokémon Horizons is an expansive RP driven by member-planned plots and regular site events more than any singular site-wide plot, meaning there is always something to do and always room for new ideas.
From classic Pokémon staples to simple slice-of-life to grandiose encounters with Legendary Pokémon, there's a little something for everyone. We've been open since December 2015 and are always eager to welcome new friends~
Emi is frequently mistaken for a teenager by those first meeting her; it doesn't help that, at 5'3", she's somewhat short for a grown woman. Her build is slender, her complexion on the pale side. Her hair style, color, and length have all changed on a number of occasions, but for now her hair is long, reaching midway to her chest, and a pale sky blue; lavender tints remain near the tips of her hair, hints of a former dye job not fully undone. Her eyes are a bright pink. Emi is partial towards dresses and wears them nearly-exclusively, though they vary in style from the drab and mundane to the wild and eccentric. (She's even tried making her own dresses before, though they never turned out quite like she wanted them to; there's a reason she's a painter and not a fashion designer.)
Emi tries to befriend people whenever and however she can. She takes pride in accumulating friends during her travels and is warm and outgoing when meeting new people. If anything, she may come off a little too strong.
Emi is at least somewhat aware of her privilege in the world, and wants to do what she can to help others with what she has. Whether it means comforting a crying Pokemon or giving generously to a beggar on the street, Emi is committed to making the world a better place however she can.
Emi tries to be herself as much as possible, in whatever form that takes. She means what she says and does what she thinks is best. She won't go along with something she disagrees with just for the sake of keeping the peace, though she'll generally do what she can to soften the blow.
Emi isn't overly afraid of risks along the course of her travels--far from it! She enjoys taking on new challenges, whether those be literal Gym challenges or participating in unusual local traditions. When faced with an adventure, Emi would sooner run towards it than shy away.
Emi's creativity shines most in her artwork, naturally, but it can be seen in other ways as well. She excels at finding unusual solutions to problems and imagining what could be a few steps down the road.
While Emi likes to think of herself as worldly, the truth is that there's a lot in the world she still hasn't encountered. By and large, all she's ever seen is the good side of the cities she's visited, and to some extent she doesn't realize how bad things can get elsewhere. She also tends to assume that others are as open and honest as she is, and that any stories she's told are the unvarnished truth.
Emi never makes plans, because if she did, they would be broken constantly. Emi changes her mind on what to do next frequently and follows her impulses rather than listening to others' better judgment or sticking with the tried and true. While she means well, she often gets distracted from important issues by whatever catches her eye in the moment.
Emi isn't used to getting criticized, as for most of her life, people have cushioned their words or told her what she wanted to hear. While she isn't egotistical, exactly, she does have a strong perception of herself as being a good person and is easily wounded by someone saying otherwise.
Emi likes to talk. If she finds a willing conversation partner, she will gladly ramble on for some time about whatever comes to mind, or whatever topic she is steered towards by that conversation partner. Whether this trait is endearing or annoying is entirely up to one's perspective.
Emi has a strong belief that things will work out in the end for everybody, and that the world is essentially a good place. Her optimism shines through even when things look bleak, though bleakness by and large hasn't been present in Emi's life.
Emi was an only child born into wealth, with both of her parents being high-powered executives and from rich families besides. Though her parents owned several houses, Emi spent most of her childhood at the family home in Lilycove, overlooking the beach and the vast ocean beyond it. Her early years were spent occupied by tutors and nannies, her parents being too busy to give her much of their attention. Every so often, however, they would go on extravagant family vacations to distant locales, and Emi treasured the memories of those trips immensely.
From an early age, young Emi showed an inclination towards the arts, often being found with a sketchbook and pencil in hand. Perhaps in order to encourage that inclination, Emi's parents gifted her with a Ditto, which made a wonderful model for a wide variety of portraits. Emi wanted to name the Ditto Mannequin, but at the time she couldn't quite pronounce the word and usually settled for Manny; though her difficulty with pronunciation has long since faded away, she still uses the name Manny to refer to her Ditto now and then.
Though her parents never fully voiced their expectations, Emi knew that, as their lone heir, a lot was riding on her. She knew that they likely expected her to have a high-powered career like theirs, or to go on to further schooling and make something of herself that way. However, when she said that she had decided to travel the world and hone her art skills along the way, her parents didn't blink an eye and agreed to fund her travels for as long as she wanted to engage in them, even gifting her a Ralts to assist her in moving from place to place.
While traveling, Emi came to two important realizations about her art. The first was that, much as she liked sketching, she loved painting even more. The second was that, though she had imagined that during her travels she would focus on depicting the local scenery, what she really enjoyed painting was Pokemon, and specifically Pokemon in motion. This inspired her to capture more Pokemon, and to battle with them, becoming more of a proper Pokemon Trainer. Pokemon battles are a great source of inspiration for her--and if she can't paint fast enough to capture the scene she's after, her beloved Ditto is always there to help recreate it.
Currently, Emi has rented out an apartment in Caravella City, though she travels frequently. Veria isn't the first region Emi's visited during her travels, and odds are good that it won't be the last. Will Emi remain in Veria for a month, for a year, or forever? Nobody is entirely sure, including Emi herself.

A Dexterity Major has very fine motor skills and can manipulate things quickly. Weapon fighters would be able to hit with point precision and accuracy often hitting the weak points in their foes. Other uses of the major would be delicate surgical work, extremely detailed artistic designs, and craftsmanship (tool making to specialized cooking) in other areas. In Emi's case, her skill in Dexterity is most obvious when she is painting. Her paintings are detailed and intricate in design, requiring careful handiwork. Without seeing her create her art, few would ever guess that she was particularly dexterous.
Emi is a terrible liar, though it's rare that she attempts to lie in the first place. However, she has tried acting from time to time, and is fairly good at adopting another persona that way. Emi goes by Emi and Em more or less interchangeably, depending on the preference of the person addressing her. Emi tries to keep in touch with friends encountered during her travels and has a good memory for names and faces, though her memory in other fields can be a bit shaky.
