Mia Kearney
The Blonde Bombshell | 20 (Dec 16th Chocolate covered anything day Sagitarius) | Female / Lesbian (Homosexual demi-romantic) |
Liggs | Gym Leader (Fight) | Fighting GL |
Appearance
Mia isn't your average woman. With a rather tomboyish nature, her body has grown to match. Her main feature to anyone seeing her dressed may be her long blonde hair, a feature she is oddly proud of despite it being constantly unruly and unkempt. Maybe she just likes it because it's so easy to keep it in "her style", as it never seems to turn into the full blown mess most girls tend to fear.
Undressed however is a somewhat different story. Proud of her muscles, Mia will typically wear something that exposes her stomach when not in a formal meeting with the other gym leaders, showing off the strong set of abs she's developed over the years, something certainly beyond what even some men could hope to achieve. Her biceps and legs tell a similar story, though perhaps aren't quite as defined. Her chest, despite extensive exercise on a daily basis, has never seemed to drop beneath its roughly D cup range, and is another proud asset she's sure to flaunt, especially in the face of male opponents. If she's gonna beat them anyway, she may as well let them enjoy the beating~
At 6'0, she's a pretty fair, realistic image of an amazon
Personality
Mia grew up in a city where work is everything, and as such, she has a pretty good view on anything that takes effort. "Make sure ya do it well, and then try to do it better. Oh, and make sure ya have some fun!~" Has been her motto through life, and sticks with her even to this day. As a Gym leader she feels she must make an effort to keep her body, mind, team and gym in top condition at all times, but whether she be exercizing with her hitmonchan, or painting the outside of her Gym with her Hawlucha, you'll never see her without a smile on her face!
In an odd way, Mia is both always serious, and at the same time, never serious. She will always do something to the best of her ability and then some, but the way she treats any event is with an extremely light air. She'll put tunes on her ipod before a big battle, she'll put on some dorky shades when things are about to go down. Whatever happens, it's likely she'll be the one to ensure everyone laughs through it, while having the time of her life making sure they make it through.
Many challengers may however see her as very lax. Her behaviour as a gym leader is somewhat unusual. She's very much what a kid will think of when they want to be a gym leader themselves. She'll shake hands with her challengers, ask them about their day mid battle, and never have that big imposing "You'll never beat me" style of holding herself. Instead, she'll start up the battle, put some tunes on the loudspeakers, and enjoy herself. Win or lose, the bigger the challenge, the more she'll enjoy herself. Sometimes, a loss may even bring her more joy than a win.
Of course, life isn't always gonna be fun and games, but the moments where Mia has a frown on her face or tears in her eyes not caused by immense joy, are few and far between.
History
"Oh how do I start....I mean I know you all are expecting this grand tale of how i rose to the position of Liggs fighting type specialist, and gym leader, but truth be told guys, it ain't that special! I wasn't some poort orphan who rose to power, or some little prodigy who always knew what they wanted to be.
Okay I got it. I'll start from the beginning, and you can see whether ya like it or not.~
Ya see, I grew up in this lovely town that sat on the paradise line. Liggs, to be specific. It's this great mining city that sorta has two levels to it. The people who leave on the surface refine the ores we mine and ship it off or put it to use. Meanwhile, I grew up in the underground housing, where a majority of the miners make their home. Saves them one hell of a commute let me tell ya.
Now, the thing most of you will hear about the underground from poshpants tourists is "it's no place to raise a young girl." Growing up I was surrounded by buff miners and housewives who made sure the place was nice and clean for when their husbands came back, exhausted from work. Admittadly, most girls would find it a nightmarish place to live, but if ya grow up there it ain't half bad. By the ripe old age of 10 i was rushing into the mines, jumping along railtracks and taking my dad his lunch. I did it so many times I was on first name basis with most of his buddies in a month!~
Thing is, I always wanted to do more than just take my Pa his lunch. He'd sometimes come home after one too many with the lads and blather on about the Liggs motto. "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." In his case, he loved mining, it was something his own Pa got him doin at a young age and had been his line of work ever since, so, of course, little me wanted in on the family biz so to speak. After begging my dad for a whole hour straight, he got me working in the mines with him. Ya shoulda seen his face when I started swingin a pick! Almost as good as the face my mom made when I came back home with a black eye from a loose piece of rubble I hit just a taaad too hard.
Before long, I was able to keep up with all the boys my age, pushing carts, collectin ore, and swinging my tools with the best of 'em. My time in those tunnels left with absolutely no regrets. Heck on my 15th birthday I can remember just staring at my muscles in the mirror. I had them here there and everywhere! It was awesome!....but.....it wasn't what I loved. The job, I mean. Really, I enjoyed my job, I did. I got to hang with Pa, the crowd was more..."me" than all the girls I knew, but I didn't love it. It was still work to an extent, and my Pa's drunken repetition of the city's unofficial motto would swirl in my head, but I couldnt just leave the city for a year and try and find this miracle job, could I? I'd just have to wait, and hope it found me.
Heh, let me tell ya. I NEVER thought it would show up in the shape of a punch to the gut.
Now now, before ya all start worrying, I did sorta deserve it, even if I didn't know it when i did the dirty deed. Ya see I was working in the mines when a lad my age squared up to me. Apparently...I may have slept with his girlfriend. In my defense she never said a thing and was waaaaaaaay more into it than I ever was. Eventually, my cocky smirk antagonized him enough to give him the balls to shoot the first hit. Straight to the abs. After that it's all kind of a blur. I just remember standing over him, aching all over, with the kid bleeding out his nose and a pal of his trying to drag him out the tunnels.
Boy did it feel good.
Look I'm no sadist or masochist or whatever, I didn't enjoy watching the guy in pain, but I enjoyed the rush, the adrenaline pumping through my veins and that sweet taste of victory. Ah heck, I loved it! Bloomin epiphany moment! This was what I wanted to do! I wanted to fight. I wanted to step into a ring and feel that rush, that spark in me that just made me feel alive and made all the pain slip away in a second. In hindsight, I didn't handle that epiphany well. I started a tonne of barfights, and even the more professional fights i got into didn't end too well. Still, even when i was kicked aside and had so clearly lost, it felt so, SO good to have done it.
In the coming months, when i started actually learning how to fight professionally, I kinda realized i could get a similar rush from pokemon battles. I'd train with this pint sized tyrogue i found wandering around the city, and wouldn't ya know it, the little tyke was one hell of a surprise in a fight. We'd be taking out opponents left right and center, and before long, me and my buddy hitmonchan were pretty decent in any sorta fight. We were even good enough for one of Liggs' gym leaders to take an interest and show us all the tricks and techniques we hadn't learned yet!
2 years passed since i realized what I loved, and my Mentor said he'd taught me and my pokemon all he could. I don't...really get emotional? But he er...had this long chat with me. About how he'd been wanting to travel for a long while and he wanted to leave the Gym in the right hands. He was worried the league would send in someone too serious, too methodical ya know? I was really damn shocked when he said he already had the paperwork ready for me to takeover. I was...I don't think scared is the right word. There were all these emotions, and I knew deep down this was what I had wanted for a long time. A way to take on tough opponents and make a living doing it, doing what I love! Course I said yes!
My mentor still visits every month or so of course. He needs to make sure I havn't burned down the city or nuttin, but he's a good friend, so I don't mind. Heck I look forward to it. These days, You'll find me in Liggs' underground, waiting for y'all to grow a set of balls and bring me a fight I'm gonna remember. So....
Which of you is gonna be first?"

Skills (6/11)
Physical traits
Master : Strength (3)
- With compact, sturdy muscle, Mia didn't so much get stronger as she learned how to better use what she had since the rank of major. Under Hugh's rigorous (if unusual) training methods, Mia has reached the peak of her physical skill, able to lift immense weights with strain, and even some more mildly impressive feats with relative ease. Punching concrete blocks dosn't take as much preperation as it used to, and beating her in an arm wrestle is nearly impossible. Whether it's a string of combos or that one hard knockout punch to send someone flying, Mia's "Knockout strikes" are her typical "Z-Move" as a human, and while usually used in battle, can be pretty devestating to inanimate objects too.
Enduring battles with both her pokemon and other people, Mia has developed the ability to fight through most injuries, once managing to win a fight before popping an arm back in that had been dislocated 5 minutes earlier, and still be ready for the next challenger. She of course isn't invulnerable, and tends to have a lower resistance to non-combat conditions, specifically dry or hot conditions she dosn't commonly have to deal with.
(Due to living in Liggs, she naturally feels fairly energetic in any other city par Faraday, simply due to a much more Oxygen rich environment, aiding her stamina too)
Mia used to be right handed but has become semi ambidextrous due to her injury. Her right arm is not quite as accurate it used to be yet either, but her general sense of her own placement and motor skills has increased. Her punches and blows are far more accurate, and over time she will develop finer motor skills, such as being able to play her guitar again, or handle a video game with a strong sense of accuracy. She still sucks at fighting games though. Damn combos.
Other Information
GEAR
- The Gauntlet - A device she custom requested the league to develop for her, Mia carries two gauntlets with her at most times. Appearing as bracelets when not in use, the can extend over her firsts and reveal the 3 miniaturized pokeballs carried on either one. These pokeballs can be launched with a simple punch at incredible speeds, and can even be returned to the gauntlet by a special magnet within, locking them back into place. To return a pokemon, she can even move a pokeball to her palm by spinning the revolve like section of the gauntlet.
These offer her no actual aid in a physical battle, and are more for show and ease than anything else. In fact, it may even hinder her ability to send out pokemon in some cases.
MEDICAL CONDITION
- Isolated Dextrocardia - Mia was born with her heart literally on the opposite side of her chest. This condition has no actual effect on her health, and is more just an interesting tidbit. She inherited this from her father's side of the family, and is the only one of her three siblings to have the condition.
During a sparring match with her mentor she told him about it after he apologized for punching where her heart should have been. He proceeded to joke that it was destiny, that her heart should match her good fist.
