Lucien Matheo Benoit

The youngest of the siblings is threatening to become the tallest in the family. He stands about 6’7’’ and has, at first glance, a beanpole-like frame. He's not bulky but reasonably toned. His messy blond hair falls in wayward locks down his shoulders, framing his face. His eyes are a bright gold but can look pale against his features from time to time. His skin is normally a heathy pink hue but gets progressively darker the longer he stays out in the sun. In the summer, it’s almost always a dusty brown.

He has five piercings (two in his right cartilage, one in his right ear lobe, one in his left cartilage and one in his left ear lobe) and a tattoo on his left hip. He won't tell you what the tattoo is, and normally his pants ride the line on hiding it even when he doesn't wear a shirt. However, you can see the top of a blackened out Skull and Crossbones sometimes, and that is 100% what it is. When asked, he tends to get sheepish and say he was going for a pirate aesthetic at the time which is not very true but semi-more socially acceptable than why it's really there. All this is significantly less than he actually once had. A lot of piercings have been taken out and let heal up, and small scars remain where they once were.

If allowed to, he would wear nothing but swim trunks all year-round. Unfortunately, it’s neither climate efficient nor socially acceptable. Instead, he tends to wear sweat pants and a t-shirt. Sometimes if it’s cold enough, he’ll wear a hoodie over it. Regardless of weather, he’s always in sandals. It could be snowing, and he’s wear socks and sandals. He also wears those stupid toe socks so they don’t mess with his sandals.

Lucien is a pretty relaxed and straightforward person. He takes things at his own pace and treats them in a manner that is purely himself. He doesn’t seek to hide how and who he is, so what you see tends to be what you get. He’s naturally self-satisfying and self-indulgent but that doesn’t necessarily make him crude or callus. He lives purely for himself but does find value and meaning in others. He likes people and tends to find the good in them (even when it’s not readily apparent and debatably there). Overall, he’s generally easy to get along with.

Freedom, individualism, and creativity are extremely important to Lucien. While he doesn’t really like humanity’s grand total and can be rather skeptical of it, he likes individuals and can connect with people pretty well. He values what individuals bring to the table and how their own truths drive them in different ways. He loves creative individuals and finds all manner of music and art to be inspiring. He’s surprisingly knowledgeable in the world of dances and has picked up on single dances and duets. Getting him to dance when he’s not really feeling it though might be a challenge in of itself.

Due to his respect for individualism, Lucien is pretty understanding of all persons and all parties. He may not always agree with someone but rarely sees the need to start a fight over something as silly and flimsy as ideas. He generally goes with the flow, and while he can be melodramatic for personal comic relief moments, he’s rarely truly harsh or cold. However, he is surprisingly unforgiving towards those who would actively hurt others, and he would not hesitate to fight someone who has hurt his family. Despite being somewhat detached from them for years, he still feels strongly about defending them. Maybe it’s just in the family gene pool or something.

Outside of social situations, Lucien is an individual with little self-regard. He’s apt to take a nap in the sun without sunscreen. He’s quick to surf in a thunderstorm. He’ll fumble into a dragon’s den on accident and laugh a bit nervously on seeing the dragon. And yet for all of this, he does have some regard for other people. He’s personally aware of his own nature and strives not to put other people in danger because of it. He sometimes becomes the mom-friend of whatever group he’s in and does well in taking care of other people. That goes for everything, though. Humans, Pokemon, animals, it’s all the same to him really.

It’s really hard to stop Lucien from doing what he wants to do or what he feels like he should do. When put into a situation where he feels like his personal freedom is threatened, he can be a rather harsh person. Stubborn, unforgiving, and passive aggressive are the best traits one can hope for when cornering him. Otherwise he can be much worse and much less tame. More than anything though, so long as he’s not backed into a complete corner, he has a habit of slipping away / wandering off instead. He won’t mess with you if you don’t mess with him first.

The third child of a wealthy family, Lucien had everything he could ever have wanted and then some. His parents were loving. His siblings were … siblings. There were always a bunch of servants and whatnot around the house to cater to whatever his heart desired. Life was handed to him on a silver platter before he even realized what it was.

For the most part growing up, Luc was content with this. Even if he had some reference of people, he liked everyone well enough, and in general he got along well with others. He had your standard kid-fits now and again but also had the ability to bounce back readily. He met most of his childhood milestones on time or just a little after, and overall he was “just fine” as a kid.

Still, early on Luc grew into a rather lazy individual. Unlike his brother who was already working to become the next corporate heir or his sister who was plagued by wander lust, Lucien felt no real need to exert himself. He did mostly ok in his studies (at least enough to pass). He learned to play a violin, and he dabbled in painting. He learned the basics of cooking and how to fend for himself even without servants. However, even when he was encouraged to find a passion, he just couldn’t seem to be bothered. He was content to spend his days outside reading or sometimes just watching the clouds. Oddly, he grew an obscure knack for climbing and spent a lot of time in trees and on the roof.

When Sissy turned out to be aura sensitive and their mother came out as an aura practitioner, something clicked in Lucien’s head as well. While he didn’t announce it to the world, some of what he had started to assume everyone saw but some people didn’t seem to see started to make sense. He felt remarkably shy about it, for whatever reason, and it took the bulk of several years for him to even admit it to their mother (and even that had been an accidental admittance). She helped him start his own training, but he had little ambition for it in the way Sissy did. Instead, he started trying to capture the way in which he saw the world in more rigid detail in his paintings. It pushed him to see but didn’t push some of the other aura aspects as much.

His passive years seemed to wane as he got closer to the age of ten. He became something of a wild child, often arguing with others for no reason and questioning authority like a stubborn brat. He started growing his hair out about around this time as well but never bothered to keep it neat and tidy. He also seemed to be channeling his inner Uncle Daniel when he specifically demanded asked that his first pokemon be from the Alola region, and sure enough, when he turned ten and left on his Pokemon Journey, Luc headed to the beaches of Alola. (Was he really going to do much there though?)

His first couple of years in Alola were rather lazy. He did learn some of the culture and picked up surfing and some of the local dances, but for the most part, he wandered passively along the routes. Some routes were more dangerous than others, but somehow he always managed to get through them. He made plenty of friends (especially the kids who had just left on their own journeys or were on their way so to speak), and he picked up a painful amount of slang. Family money kept his impulsive side afloat, and he was all the rage in terms of being the most updated and fashionable of them.

In the years to come, however, he sort of … fell into a particularly nasty local group? When did that happen? Oops? It started with a couple of his older friends saying they were going to join, and he naively followed along with them. Turned out this was a lot more than he bargained for, but they wouldn’t let him out of it immediately. So instead, he let his brain take a back-seat ride for a little while, and he started doing stuff he would never have done had he been home. Yeah.. that was really dumb, really really really really dumb.

In just over a couple of months, Luc had a tattoo and a couple of piercings. He’d done things he regretted and got cornered by the police who ended up calling his parents. His father was furious and demanded he come home, but just as furiously, Luc refused. They weren’t on speaking terms after that, so instead Luc was left trying to figure out how to pay all his minor crimes back himself. After some talks, he was let off with a couple years of community service (baring that he followed through with it).

And he did, actually.

He worked where they asked him to work and did what they asked him to. He wasn’t a bad kid, they decided; he just fell into a group of bad kids. In true blue honesty, though, Luc just didn’t want to go home. He wasn’t interested in being pulled back to Kalos, being yelled at by his father, and being forced to do whatever it was he particularly wanted of him. If he was going to pick his poisons, it would be the one that gave him more choices and more beaches. Even if it meant bowing to Alolan authorities, at least he felt like he was making a choice there. Still, it was a pretty large shock to find out that his generous allowance had dwindled down to a mere fraction of what it once was. He wasn’t struggling per say but it was significantly less than he was used to. Learning to deal with that was a rather painful struggle.

Over time, Lucien made friends with some of the local businesses through his community service work and ended up getting a full-time job at a local bar and grill to supplement his income. While the bartender wasn’t technically supposed to show him how to make drinks, Luc sort of picked it up and turned out to have a natural knack for it. After a bunch of fumbling, it was sort of encouraged on the other end, and Luc enjoyed it. He found he liked alcohol, really, and while he wouldn’t bring himself to steal from his job, he would coerce a bunch of his older friends to buy it for him. They’d have wild parties and a lot of fun. He’d meet the first love of his life- and then second and third and fourth and fifth and- oh yeah. Guess you called those “flings”, actually.

On other days, he continued to wander the islands, catching Pokemon to help him company and looking for new landscapes to paint. He picked up the ukulele and the nî `au kani and had grown a deep respect for the various other instruments that were common there. He decided early on he would never be as good a musician as some on the island, but he enjoyed it for himself and therefore kept playing. He made a couple of lifelong friends this way as well as a substantial number of crushes and flings. It always seemed like when he admitted to not having any goals or desires, most ended up leaving. Oh well? Oh well.

It would be one of his longer standing friends that got him into Pokemon breeding. She worked at a nursery and encouraged him to come around a couple of times. When he found how fun and playful young Pokemon were, he stuck around for longer. He worked on the weekends mostly as a person who could do the heavy lifting. He wasn’t that strong but sort of learned to become stronger because of these expectations. After that, he started enjoying actual workouts in of themselves too (not just dances and surfing).

His little bubble world would be popped, however, when he finally received a message about what was happening to his siblings in the region of Veria. It shook him up quite a bit, and after a little, he made the decision to leave Paradise – for at least a while. Before then, though, he had a few loose ends to tie up and make sure the bar and grill had an indefinite substitute. It was only after that that he packed his bags and left for Veria.

Aura: Lucien has been aura sensitive since he was very young, and his powers have developed some over his lifespan. Only in the last year has he begun to truly focus and train his immense powers, but they seem to be coming along nicely. 

His own aura is mostly turquoise with hints of seafoam green, purple of different shades, and flecks of gold and silver depending on his state of mind. It’s soft, unobtrusive, and tends to be easily overlooked in many cases.

Aura Sight (Major, 2): Lucien’s Aura Sight has undergone a massive evolution as he has started to mature. He is now capable of turning his Aura Sight on and off at will. He can see in, around, and through walls clearly and easily. His focus tends to be definition rather than distance allowing him to pick apart details in a person aura or residual aura on items and the like. In short bursts, he can almost double his normal sight range using aura to the degree of clarity he would up close. With this high definition of sorts, he has found it easier to recognize certain patterns in people’s aura. He can recognize his family, friends, and even some random individuals if he happens to find something interesting in their aura.

Reading Emotions (Major, 2): With such a sudden increase in his Aura Sight, Lucien has started to pick out the details and shifts in color and form of other people’s aura. Through observation, he has started to be able to detail the boarder emotions of individuals through their aura, and while he can often be misled especially by strangers or new acquaintances, he has started to solidify his understanding of his friends. In time, he will be able to understand more subtle shifts and changes in people’s aura and could even begin to detail the connections associated with it.

Aura Tracking (Minor, 1): With his increase in vision, Lucien has also noticed different aura markings and patterns aside from the occasional wisps of interest. He has started to try and learn to follow an aura trail by a single item alone, though it is proving a little more difficult and doesn’t come as naturally/intuitively to him as his other skills.

Aura Reinforcement (Minor, 1): Lucien can reinforce small parts of his body (a limb, his core, etc) and some small objects using his Aura. He is thus able to deflect a decent amount of damage for short intervals of time. He can take up to three heavy blows rather well though this is very exhausting.

Aura Channeling (Major,2): With his aura, Lucien is capable of projecting positive/calming vibes as well as negative/unnerving ones up to 20 feet in any direction. These feelings are less subtle than his Minor form but still most often add or take the edge off of a situation. The closer in proximity one is to him when he's using Channeling will often affect how they are affected.

Lucien's main focus is on positive emotions / calming vibes. He can expend some aura to heal small wounds such as scratches, scrapes, mild bruises, and deeper aches either on himself or a single person in a short timespan (upwards of 30 seconds). Larger wounds are possible to heal but take longer amounts of time (upwards of a few minutes). His limit is ameliorating a couple of deep gashes. He can speed this up, however, by taking small bits of someone willingly giving him aura. Notably, he needs not only to be calm when doing this but also focused in a particular way.

With his Aura Sight and Aura Tracking powers on top of his advancing knowledge of Aura Channeling, Lucien is also actively aware of when Aura Channeling is occurring in his 'sight range' and can pinpoint the projector and receiver even from a distance. Due to his Aura Mediated Emotion Reading on top of this, Lucien can even get an understanding of what emotions are being channeled without necessarily feeling them for himself. To Lucien, Aura Channeling often looks like waves of aura moving out like ripples of water, sometimes linking people together and sometimes not. A heavier recipient of the feelings will often glow with another person's aura for a little while as well, and Lucien can 'sniff out' the giver rather easily thereafter.
