Looking over the file idly, Sam almost jolted as she heard the voice of the man who'd just entered the room. Ugh. Now she recalled part of the reason why she wanted to go away for to the Hoenn branch for that operation. That wasn't actually true in the slightest, but her brain would let her believe it. Even if she'd gotten along better with Josh at times, that was still mostly thanks to his Pikachu, and the light disdain on her face wasn't somethings he tried to hide, at least not until she looked directly at either of them, putting on a light smile and a tone of fake politeness.
"Well its good to see you made it through okay, I hope the local authorities didn't take too long." The small daggers in her eyes almost said the words she wasn't rude enough to voice. 'show off.' Eyes flicking back to the commander, she smirked a little at the comment about knowing his face, and began to stand as he explained the past commander's current situation as best he could. "Well, that's certainly a shame, but it's good to have you all the same, Commander." Tucking the file under her arm she gave a quick nod and finished with "This should be plenty to go on for me, I'll come to you if I have any developments." With that she began walking out, shooting Josh a light "look", not quite a glare but it was hardly polite. Lightning meanwhile got such a sweet smile you wouldn't believe the two faces were made by the same person so quickly.

The look that Sam gave him said it, really. He merely nodded at her words, and gave a blunt "It turned out fine, we just had to disarm them and their Pokemon before it got too messy, and authorities were there before long", quick and to the point before looking toward the commander. The blonde dismissed the "look" that Sam gave him, and the overall rudeness she generally showed with a light motion of his hand as she left. Her attitude didn't bother him anymore, he really didn't care. So long as her attitude didn't get in the way of work - and thus far it had not - then she could do what she wanted so long as she wasn't disruptive. He just didn't give a damn enough to give it a second thought beyond that. He chuckled lightly at the note about recognition. He kind of forgot sometimes that he could be recognized with the things he'd done entertainment-wise. Maybe that was a good attitude to have. Either way, the new Commander wanted an incident reported, and he nodded his head. “Already intended on it, sir.”Once the questions began, he nodded his head once more. “I was looking for a new case, yes, if there are any sir. I was also wondering if there was any changes in the guidelines, that seem to come with new Commanders. Or if there'd be an orientation later."He had to still his tongue to keep from saying "another" orientation. He was still a little sour about how cold the other one came off. Apparently he hadn't realized he was working for the Rocket boss and not the head of Interpol, he had thought at the time. This one at least, seemed like they might not be so quick to bite his head off. Not that he intended to slack or relax in the office, but walking on eggshells was always, 100% of the time, a detriment to a workplace. I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

"Sounds good," Kai told Samantha briefly before waving her off. Her back to him, he couldn't really see the faces she gave Josh or his Pikachu, but the latter seemed to like her well enough.
As Josh confirmed he could use a new case, he nodded and thought a moment. "Your face is a bit too well-known for the recon work needed on some of the simpler cases we've got at the moment." Such as the smuggling operation he'd shown Sam. And.. a lot, really. He tried not to judge his subordinates too quickly or on singular aspect, but merciful Arceus this kid working as an agent with his fame left a foul taste in his mouth. "How about for now you get in touch with Benoit and see if he could use any work on his case, and I'll let you know when I find something that takes more muscle than finesse."
Josh's other question gave him a bit more pause. He'd read over both Diedrich's personal policies and the ones before that given they'd been so recent, but that sort of stuff was... honestly a little more 'arbitrary' in his mind than case files. The important stuff was consistent so he didn't have to worry about that; it was stuff like dress code where the two policies he'd read were kind of blurring together in his head, so he wasn't entirely sure just now what had been current and what was now a bit outdated. Eh.
"Probably no formal orientation so much as a mass email later. I trust you can all manage from just that." This wasn't college, after all. Admittedly, being able to greet everyone all at once sounded nice, but on the other hand he was still genuinely considering that little mini-party idea, heh.
"Off the top of my head, casual dress from now on. Not that it makes much difference for you, but I'd rathr have most agents able to go out and blend in on call than wearing flashy suits or uniforms. And I can't recall Diedrich's policy on Pokemon in the office, but.." He nodded back toward Kyaria, and the Farfetch'd looked between him and Josh. "Meet my personal secretary. I damn sure use mine, so as long as they're well-mannered and not too large, like your buddy there, I welcome having 'em around."

Josh visibly frowned when the Commander would remark that his face was a bit "too well-known" for the recon work, and by the look on Kai's face, it was likely that wasn't the only thing that the Commander felt he couldn't do. While he got the logic, it did upset him this idea that just doing something outside of work that he enjoyed was going to get in the way of his work here. Though when he'd first came in before, the Commander before Rhaf had given him an idea... Least he could do was throw it, as this was the first he'd heard that he'd be downright unable to do some missions. "I can do that, sir" He would respond, and after a moment's pause seemed to decide to speak what he'd been thinking. "The Commander that recruited me, two Commanders ago I mean, suggested I use a hoodie for recon when I came in, as I'd done some contest hosting at the time and he wasn't sure if I could do any scouting without one. So long as I try not to look too out of place, he had said. Has worked for me in the handful of times I've been sent scouting, didn't run into any problems" He would suggest in response to his first comments about scouting. "If you feel that won't work, though, I'll respect your judgement, sir."
He kept his expression, though it wasn't hard to tell that the fact his own side-things might get in the way of his Interpol job, was bothering him. Not really a surprise, he had been here for a lion's share of time, and had stuck it out despite the issues he'd had with certain rude co-workers. It was clear the job and what Interpol did for Veria was important to him. But whatever the Commander felt was right, he'd respect that and abide by it. Josh continued to listen as he would inform there would be no formal orientation, just an email, to which he curtly nodded his head. When he would dictate casual wear from here on, he would let out an audible breath and while he tried to hide his relief, it was pretty clear from the look on his face he wasn't a fan of the uniform he was presently wearing. "I brought my usual wear with me for when I got off, I can change into that right away" He would respond, before looking over at the Farfetch'd. His smile from there was warm as he would wave heartily but calmly at the Pokemon. "Nice to meet you" He would speak toward the Pokemon, and the Pikachu on his shoulder would raise a waving hand before letting out a chirp, in the form of a "Pika!" At the least he was fine with having Lightning around, that was good. The Pikachu could be a bit of a handful sometimes but hadn't given any problems in the office so far. "I actually only found out we could have Pokemon in the office a little while ago" He would admit, speaking on a more personal and honest level instead of a business-informative one, for the first time since the meeting had started. "Sam told me, after someone undertook a stealth mission into my bag" He would admit, his tone giving light amusement at the memory. "Speaking of masters of stealth, this is Lightning, my partner" He would add, motioning toward the Pikachu on his shoulder. But he soon returned back to business in tone as he would then nod his head once more. It was very much clear the Agent wasn't used to having a Commander that could speak more casually and more personally, and appeared to respond as such. "Understood loud and clear, Commander. Is there anything else I should know before I file the incident report and touch base with Benoit?" He would inquire. I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

As Josh talked about using a hoodie, Kai held his tongue. He thumbed through some files, spun his chair slowly to face the opposite direction as if looking for something and multitasking, then rolled his eyes heavily once Josh wouldn't see.
It really wasn't that he'd been given any reason to dislike him as a person. Attitude-wise, he was making a good enough impression, really. Respectful but friendly, close to at least one of his Pokemon. And part of Kai could admire his ambition, to an extent, hence holding his tongue. He just... Mm.
When Josh asked if there was anything else, he resurveyed his thoughts and found a rather more neutral-sounding answer than had first come to mind. "Not policy-wise, no. Regarding recon potential, I imagine your being an agent wasn't such public knowledge back when you were first recruited. Now it's a factoid touted by game shows you've guest starred on." He'd like to say he'd come across one Caravella Couples Battle Show in looking into information on all his new agents-- and needless to say wasn't pleased with that little advertisement-- but he was actually... aware of it beforehand, thanks to a squealing 14-yr-old who might have a poster or two of the young man in front of him on her bedroom walls.
He sighed. "Honestly, were it not for that, your celebrity status might be an asset in certain situations. But with both being common knowledge, it turns into a liability. A hood and shades might work if all you need is to eavesdrop, but any mission requiring making contact to gather intel is best left to another agent."

He hated to admit it, but he was absolutely right. The Commander noted that the game show that he'd entered with the prospect of learning Z-Moves, literally done so that he could do his job more efficiently, had flat out publicly said he was part of Interpol. He bit his lip, for a moment unable to meet Kai's eyes as he recollected himself before listening to the rest. He didn't know what to say, for a bit, but seemed to come to a resolution once he'd recollected himself. "No, you're right" He would remark once Kai had finished. "You're absolutely right. It's been some time since I've done recon work, things have changed a bit since."He held up a hand to get a look at the Z-Gauntlet that he'd had made to be able to quickly and efficiently use the Z-Charm that he had obtained from it, and frowned a moment. Had it been worth it? Until Kai had pointed out his celebrity status was a liability thanks to that little bit of "advertising", he would have said yes. His frown remained from there, he really wasn't able to hide that anymore. He'd done these little things, acting, the contest stuff, all sorts of things like that on his off time because he enjoyed it, but the Interpol job was more important and the fact that one was now in the way of the other greatly annoyed him. Maybe he needed to be more careful of what he appeared on. He had stopped doing the contest hosting and hadn't for some time now. The atmosphere backstage was a bit... Toxic in some of the events he had appeared in. It just wasn't an environment he wanted to be in for something he was meant to be doing for fun. So that wasn't a problem. The game show... Things like that, maybe it was good to keep away from if he wanted to have people -not- constantly bring up the fact he was in Interpol. He'd already cut down on that side of things overall really. Helping with a company, and his job with Interpol came first. That had been his stance before now, and one that would continue. He really didn't do this for fame at all, it just kind of... Happened along the way. He was disappointed that he was limited from certain types of work, but that was how things worked. His head at that moment was swimming with ways he could fix this, that was just who he was. There was a problem, and he wanted to find a way around it. He really wasn't a fan of game shows and the like anyway, and had only agreed to that one due to practical benefits. People would forget things as they were out of sight... Perhaps in time, he could return to recon work if the cards fell into place right. For now, he'd have to deal with the hand he'd been dealt. That was life. He would bow his head respectfully then. "If that's everything, sir, I'll get to work right away. Thank you for your time."I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT

Well, at least he could own up to it, even if it still grated on Kaimana's nerves that this wouldn't have been obvious from the beginning. Eh... Nothing to be done now but mitigation and damage control and he was going to pretend that the words Discipline Priest didn't just pop into his head because he swore he wasn't always that big a nerd.
"That should be all, yes. Thank you for coming in to see me." By which he meant, well yes Josh showed up for work, but he was trying to acknowledge the conscious effort he seemed to have made to come see him promptly on his first day and all that. "Here's to all of us working well together."

Josh nodded his head when Kai would end the briefing. "To all of us working together" He repeated as he would turn and walk out. He wasn't all that happy with what had transpired, but life was about ups and downs, after all. He would deal with it, he decided, and that was okay. Besides, at the least he got what he came for. His voice would ring out from the other room as he would pass by Sam's desk. "Sammy, could you do me a favour and let me know when the Bat clocks in and roosts in his cave if you see him before I do? Need to check in with him on his case, but I'm gonna be busy for a little bit and might not see him. Thank you~" He chirped warmly, the "bat" likely referring to Thomas as was their joke. He smiled toward his co-worker as he would head back to his desk then, and get to work on the incident report. [Exit Josh, for now?] I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT IT
