With Rikiya Oshrio having finally obtained his PhD, after all the time and work he put into his studies at the University, Rikiya found himself spending the next several months switching between Aleal and Faraday City. And while he missed his old friends and professors at the University, the shift in action between the two cities made things worth it alone. Aside from his new employer being good to him so far, the fact that there was so much more crime, and therefore more action in Faraday compared to Aleal was great for him.
The best part, however, was the fact that he now lived in the same city as his beloved Andrea. The two of them no longer had to rely on Abra teleportation to see each other, and with Rikiya having his own place, they didn't have to worry about any roommates or annoying neighbors ruining their time together. Thanks to the relatively quiet nature of the area he lived in, with people who minded their own business, he and Andie were able to just hang out, and cuddle in peace.
Of course, tonight was going to be far from a peaceful night. The blue-haired engineer would patrol the streets of Faraday, looking out for stray Pokemon causing trouble. While it wasn't the most exciting thing to do, it was at least action.
Baby steps, right?

As Rikiya walked down through the moonlit streets of Faraday City, a high-pitched, childlike scream resonated through the area. Immediately, Rikiya turned to the alleyway from which the scream had originated from. When Rikiya finally came to the source of the scream, he would see a boy, no older than ten, being cornered by a Spiritomb in the alley.
But the strangest part to the Gym Leader was the fact that the Spiritomb had no trainer present with it. And while the creature was distracted, Rikiya would bring out his Grubbin, Siemen. Rikiya would point to the Spiritomb tormenting the child, and gesturing to the insect with an x opening and closing in a similar manner to scissors.
The Grubbin, recognizing his master's sign language, crept up towards the Spiritomb, before biting down on specter with an X-Scissor. The Spiritomb cried out, as if a collective of disembodied voices were crying out in pain in unison. It was at this point that the boy lowered his arms to see his tormentor turning turning his attention to the Grubbin that had come up behind him, and bitten down on him. While the Spiritomb was distracted, the boy ran towards the end of the alley, where Rikiya was waiting.
"It's okay, I'm the Gym Leader.", Rikiya assured the panicked kid as he nearly bumped into the older man. "That thing belong to a bully or some shit?", the Gym Leader asked the boy. The boy shook his head hurriedly. "Aight, just hang back, yo, we got this shi-", Rikiya told the kid, before Siemen was launched back several feet with a Feint Attack.
"Oh fuck! Siemen!", Rikiya shouted as he grabbed another Pokeball, this time containing Galvan the Alolan Geodude. The Geodude looked at his ally, who staggered up after recovering from being knocked back by the Feint Attack, then at the opposing Spiritomb in the alley. But rather than acknowledging the backup his opponent received, the Spiritomb would instead attempt to finish off the Grubbin with a Dark Pulse.
"Siemen, Dig!", ordrered Rikiya.
Siemen would immediately burrow underground, narrowly avoiding the Dark Pulse coming his way. "Galvan, punch that bitch out!", Rikiya called out to the Geodude. With a grin, Galvan rushed over to the Spiritomb, cocking his fist back for a Thunder Punch. The Spiritomb, not exactly being mobile, was unable to move very far before the electrified fist struck him. The Spiritomb once again wailed in pain as the attack struck him.
Once again, the Spritomb would smash into the Geodude with a Feint Attack, which the Geodude was better able to take, despite it hitting him quite heavily. In that moment, the Spiritomb readied yet another Dark Pulse, only for Siemen to emerge from underneath the Spiritomb, hitting it with the Digging Attack. As the Keystone Pokemon was interrupted by the attack, Galvan recovered, and slugged at the Spiritomb with yet another Thunder Punch. This time, the attack managed to finish off the Spiritomb, causing it to retreat back into the Keystone, though still giving off the purple and green glow from the cracks to signify that it was merely unconscious.
"Fuckin' a! Good job, you two!", Rikiya called out to the exhausted duo.
It was at this point that Rikiya got a text about a Spiritomb that managed to escape the Safari Zone somehow, and make its way into Faraday, terrorizing anyone unlucky enough to encounter it.
"Well, lucky fuckin' day.", Rikiya said, producing an Ultra Ball, and tapping the unconscious form of the Spritomb with it.

After Rikiya picked up the ball containing the Spiritomb he managed to capture, the trainer would pull his phone back and, and work towards sending a text to the League to confirm the capture of the escaped Spiritomb. The text itself was a shortened form of an incident report, one that would detail the location and time of the encounter.
As Rikiya worked on sending this message to the League, while neither the Gym Leader, or the kid who he had saved earlier were paying attention, something flew up being the latter. Silently, it would approach the kid, before crying out, and swooping down towards him.
Rikiya, as he was finishing the report, was snapped back to reality by the child's scream of terror. Rikiya immediately ran over, taking his focus off the phone, in order to check on the kid, who was being chased by the Zubat that had managed to get in while he wasn't look.
"For the love of Arceus, Galvan, kick this fucker's ass! Thunder Punch that Zubat into next week!", Rikiya called out to his Alolan Geodude.
The Geodude cried out in acknowledgment, and floated over to the Zubat, aiming a fist at the Zubat, before attempting to punch it out of the air. At the last moment, the Zubat managed to detect the Geodude coming towards it, and would manage to move out of the way of his attacker. From there, the kid was free to get away from the Zubat.
In retaliation for the attempt at the surprise attack, the Zubat would loose an Air Slash from range, managing to easily hit the Alolan Geodude. However, much to the disappointment of the Zubat, the Alolan Geodude was barely phased by the attack, his typing allowing him to easily take the attack. So either the Zubat was going to have to play this game for a while, or try to get up close and personal with the Geodude.
"Galvan, wait!", Rikiya called out to the Geodude.
Galvan would wait in place, as Rikiya ordered. Despite the Dark Pulse he had taken earlier from the Spiritomb, the Air Slash from the Zubat barely hurt him, and even the Geodude was confident in his ability to tank such hits.
In the end, the Zubat made his decision, to try to wear down the Alolan Geodude. First, the creature would unleash a Confuse Ray at his opponent, hoping to throw him off, and potentially get his opponent to damage himself. Galvan would try to look around, getting double vision as a result of exposure to the Confuse Ray. From there, the Zubat would fly in, attempting to bite down on the Geodude with Poison Fangs.
"Galvan, try to use Thunder Punch!", Rikiya called out to his Pokemon.
The effects of the Confuse Ray would wear off quickly for the Geodude, who's vision returned to normal, just in time for the Zubat to approach his range. Once the bat was close enough, Galvan would cock his electrified fist back, and slam it into the Zubat's face, knocking out the poisonous creature with one blow.
"Awesome work, Galvan!", Rick called out to the Geodude.

After the Zubat was confirmed unconscious, Rikiya would carry the incapacitated Pokemon off to a safe spot where it would eventually wake up, and be able to fly off. After all, it would be a shame if someone accidentally ran it over, because it was lying in the middle of the street.
With that being done, Rikiya turned to the boy. Despite the danger being over for the time being, the boy was still visibly upset, on the verge of tears. Rikiya would crouch down to the boy's level, making eye contact with him. Despite the tattoo, and his yellow eyes giving him an intimidating look, his expression was far warmer.
"Yo, what's wrong? Those fuckers give you a scare?", Rikiya would ask the boy.
"M-mom's gonna kill me. I was supposed to be home two hours ago...", the boy whimpered to the Gym Leader.
"And were you actually staying out late, or were you chased down for the last two hours?", he would ask.
The boy looked down with a guilty expression. In truth, he was staying out with friends, friends that had encouraged him to skip curfew. However, when the Spiritomb came, they all ran off, leaving him at the mercy of the spectral being.
"Fuck it, I can tell 'em you were being hounded by stray Pokemon.", Rikiya told the kid with a shrug.
The boy would look up at Rikiya in surprise, shocked to hear that the Gym Leader would vouch for him like that. Rikiya gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder, before standing back up. "Now, let's get you home, before your mom starts calling the cops, or the parents of your friends...", Rikiya would tell him, letting the boy lead the way.
The boy would look back at the Zubat momentarily, before looking back towards the way home. "Wait, you got any Pokemon on you at all?", Rikiya would ask the kid. The boy shook his head, prompting Rikiya to look back at the Zubat as well, and then back to the kid, offering him one of his spare Pokeballs.
"Here kid, it's your lucky day. If your folks try to give you shit, I'll talk to 'em myself. After all, that shitshow with the Spiritomb, and the Zubat too, is more than enough of a case for why you should have something to defend yourself with.", Rikiya told the boy.
The boy would capture the unconscious Zubat in the Pokeball, watching as it got sucked in.
"Now, I can give you some lessons, to help you control that Zubat. Just watch yourself in the meantime, a'ight?", Rikiya would offer the kid, who nodded to him, taking the newly captured Zubat.
On the way home, the duo would be stalked by a lone Salandit, who would chuckle quietly to itself, devising a plan to attack them. It would rush ahead of them, attempting to cut them off down the path. Once it was at a corner, it would step out, and attempt to loose a Flamethrower.
Rikiya immediately shielded the kid with his body, prepared to take a Flamethrower, before Galvan would take the attack for them, his Rock body being able to withstand the attack. Meanwhile, Siemen would burrow underground, and attempt to tunnel to where the Salandit was, while it was distracted.
The Alolan Geodude cried out at the Salandit, attempting to keep its attention. Meanwhile, Rikiya would move to get the boy out of dodge again. Once again, the Salandit attempted to loose a Flamethrower at the two humans, with Galvan attempting to move in to shield him. But before the Salandit could do it, Siemen emerged from underneath the Salandit, striking the creature directly, and incapacitating it immediately.
With the threat dealt with, Galvan collapsed, nearly unconscious. Siemen went to check on his ally, with Rikiya quickly rushing in, checking out the Salandit, before tapping it with a Pokeball.

Rikiya grinned when the familiar sight of sparks flying from the button showed itself, telling him what he wanted to be told. That the fight was over, and the Salandit that ambushed him was his. Or at least, would be traded off to a good home, and no longer trying to torch random people. While giving it to the boy was tempting, the Gym Leader quickly wrote it off as a terrible idea. He felt that someone with a little more experience would be better suited to deal with such a troublesome specimen.
With the encounter finished, Rikiya and the boy quickly rushed to the latter's home. Outside the door, an older man with a prominent gut stood outside, looking angry. The boy quickly averted his gaze in fear, while Rikiya looked the man in the eye, with seemingly no fear.
"You this kid's father? Thank Arceus, kid's had some shitty fucking luck tonight!", Rikiya quickly called out to the man. "Yeah? And it's about to get worse for him! And watch your language!", the angry man replied. "Yo, before you punish the kid, you gotta listen! He was being hounded by a Spiritomb that escaped from the Safari Zone when I found him. Kid's friends were out with him, when they got attacked by the Spiritomb. They got away, but your son didn't. So for a good three hours, the kid was playing hardcore hide and go seek with a Spiritomb, until I came along.", he told the older man, pulling out his phone, and quickly pulling up the details of the escape and capture.
The man looked at what Rikiya presented him, and looked back to his son, his expression softened. "Your mother was worried sick about you, kid.", he would say. It was then that a woman stepped out of the door, rushing up to her son, and giving him a hug. "Thank Arceus you're alright!", she would say. "Yo, before you scold your son, lemme explain what I explained to his father here.", Rikiya said.
With the child's tardiness explained away, Rikiya would look at the two parents as they sent their kid inside. "Before you two go, I'd like to propose something.", he would say to them. "Your kid, throughout his ordeal, was completely defenseless. I know you two must be hesitant to allow him to do so, but I'd suggest giving him a Pokemon for self-defense, as well as personal growth. I'd be happy to take him under my wing, of course.", Rikiya said to them, flashing them the Gym Badge that marked him out as one of the City's Gym Leaders.
Both the husband and wife looked at Rikiya, before looking back at each other. "We'll give it some thought. And whatever our answer, we will give you a call.", the woman would say to the blue-haired man.
"Fuckin' a! Here's my card.", Rikiya told them, handing them a card with the address to his Gym, as well as numbers to contact him. "Just take care, a'ight?", Rikiya told them as he headed off, both parents heading inside.
Rikiya would soon be greeted by a Tynamo, floating right in front of him. The small, white creature looked up at him, while hoping to get a battle from him. Rikiya looked down to his belt, sending out Galvan the Alolan Geodude. Despite looking exhausted, the Geodude grinned, looking ready to fight.
"Galvan, start with Rock Blast!", ordered the Gym Leader.
The Geodude fired off a barrage of rocks at the Tynamo. The floating eel managed to weave through the first two, advancing towards the Geodude in the process. But as it got ready to fire a Charge Beam at its opponent, the third rock came, smacking the creature in the face. The fourth and fifth rocks would follow, nailing the Tynamo a total of three times.
"Go for a Thunder Punch!", ordered Rikiya.
The Alolan Geodude rushed over to the Tynamo as fast as he could, fist cocked back for a Thunder Punch. The Tynamo, seeing this coming, quickly floated out of the way, once he was close enough. He would then fire a Charge Beam at the back of the Alolan Geodude, knocking it out of the fight.
"Galvan, you had a good run.", the trainer said to his Geodude, recalling it, and sending out Siemen the Grubbin.
The Tynamo attempted to fire off another Charge Beam at the new opponent. "Dig!", Rikiya called out. The Grubbin, in response, quickly burrowed underground, before tunneling towards the position of the Tynamo. The floating creature looked around in confusion, before the Grubbin emerged behind it.
"Now, X-Scissor!", Rikiya called out.
The Grubbin lunged at the Tynamo, pincers pulled back for an X-Scissor. The Tynamo barely had time to react as the Grubbin managed to latch onto its body, biting down on it. The Tynamo cried out in pain, the well-placed X-Scissor seemingly knocking it out.
"Great job, Siemen...", Rikiya said to the Grubbin, readying a Pokeball for the Tynamo. "This one's joining us...", he said.
