After he’d managed to square off everything that needed doing, Kouji decided to drop by the Faraday Ruins and look for something… shiny. While he’d heard whispers and rumors that there were more shining sparklies to be found, well, he didn’t even know where to start!
“I’ve been really out of it…” he remarked, rubbing the side of his head as he then looked around—who knew whether or not falling pieces of debris would suddenly drop on him from above!
He could only hope that this wasn’t the case, as he’d heard the horror stories from back then—that some explorers had ended up with concussion-related injuries in the city’s hospital due to random bits of floating rocks suddenly hitting them atop their heads.
Sighing, he then began walking around, looking up ever so often just in case something did decide to come hurtling down from the odd floating formations in the sky above him and knock him out for the time being.

It didn’t take too long for Kouji to actually step on something—he thought he’d very nearly crushed it underfoot! Wondering what his foot had steped on, he then hopped backwards and began scanning the ground, wondering where the heck the thing that he’d landed on had come from.
Once he caught sight of it, he was a bit surprised—normally he’d be turning up marbles here and there; but sadly, he didn’t know what the heck they were for. At least, not yet anyway. He could only guess if he was seeing things, as he spotted an oddly-colored diamond-like object half-buried in the ground, and reached out to pick it up, scuffing it across the sleeve of his jacket to get rid of the dirt.
“Hm, unusual little thing… maybe I’ll find out what you are once I do a little more research…” he remarked, pocketing the weird object and continuing on his way, winding deeper into the Faraday Ruins…

 The deeper Kouji went into the Faraday Ruins, the more he had to keep looking up just in case one of the floating islands suddenly decided to drop a nasty surprise on him and knock him senseless for a few minutes.
Thankfully, nothing of the sort happened, although it looked like he was developing a twitch every two minutes he had to crane his neck up and sidestep every so often just in case someone decided to throw him a huge monkey wrench and surprise him from out of nowhere.
Unlike the last thing that had surprised him, this time he’d very nearly lost his balance as his left foot landed on a marble, which caused him to slide forward for a few moments, almost hollering as he tried to steady himself.
“Wh—whoa!” he yelped, throwing out his arms and flailing, the better to get his balance back on track. Eventually, he’d come to a stop, and found the offending little object—even if it looked like something that he already had (or did he? He wasn’t sure) he knew that there was a market for these things…
“Alright, I can trade you for a pretty penny,” he conceded, picking up the object and continuing on his merry way.

 After he’d taken the marble—he knew he’d be able to find a buyer for it when he got out of the Ruins—he continued to go deeper inside. Kouji was well-aware that time was running short, and that he had to be returning soon.
What he wasn’t expecting was that the moment he’d decided to turn around and head back, he’d literally be tripping over gold! His right foot sailed out from underneath him as he stepped on something, which caused him to flail around for a few moments before he eventually lost his balance and eventually land, ass-first, on the ground!
“Oww… what the hell…” he hissed, rubbing a hand to his sore backside, before seeing the object that had caused him to take a spill—and blinking a few times, before pinching himself. Was he seeing things, or had he literally stumbled upon…
“Well, you’re forgiven,” he muttered to nobody in particular, picking up the very large chunk of gold (who knew if it was fool’s gold, but that was neither here nor there) and slowly stood up again, beginning his trek back to the city proper.

He was pretty much assured of quick money the moment he’d get out of the ruins, but he wasn’t expecting to pick up one more thing before he’d make a quick exit.
And, as always, he wasn’t expecting to trip over the thing that he’d be taking home!
“Ow! What the heck?!” he yelped, hopping on the spot as his foot came down hard on the offending object, yet again. Wondering if this was a case of déjà vu, he then hopped off to one side, still trying to hold onto the large chunk of gold as he spotted a brown thing half-sticking out of the dirt.
“Huh. You look just like that other one I found earlier… might as well…” he said to nobody in particular, plucking up the brown, sparkling object and pocketing it.
