Despite the overcast day, Jemma noticed a small sparkle in one of the bushes she was exploring. When she moved to get a better look, however, out popped a Sewaddle. He was defending something, it seemed, but the blonde was focused more on dealing with the aggressor and released Ami, her Spheal. The bug jumped into action, a reverberating noise causing Ami to cringe. Then he released a few balls of green energy at the dual-type. Ami became a little dazed at this point, but Jemma was quick to support her Pokemon, instructing her with, "Use Frost Breath and then Rest!"

And so Ami did. The burst of cold air that came from her caused the Sewaddle to make a squeaking noise out of surprised discomfort. By the time he realized the air was less freezing, Ami was already asleep, snoring adamantly. The bug squinted at this, only to feel like a large gust of wind was blowing him back thanks to the move Snore. As he was reeling, before he could retaliate, Jemma pulled a Pokeball from her pack and tossed the ball at the little creature. Crossing her fingers in anticipation over the shaking capture ball, the woman bit her lip excitedly.

Once the Pokeball had clicked shut, Jemma cheered quietly and walked over to pick up the sphere. As it ported itself to her PC, she looked over toward the bush she was originally going to investigate. Curiously, she walked over to find not only a Shiny Stone, which Misty would benefit from later on, but an odd-looking piece of metal. She blinked at it and picked both up, shrugging and setting them in her bag.

As she turned around, Ami let out a little snore, causing her trainer to giggle softly before returning her. Then she continued on her way, unaware of a little bird that had found her interesting enough to begin following her. The Natu stayed at a distance, making sure Jemma was entirely unaware of her.

Jemma was unaware of the Zorua right up until the Pokemon tried to attack her. The Natu, which had been watching her for some time by now, was quick to fly into action. It took the Feint Attack for the woman, collapsing into a heap thanks to a critical hit. The blonde gasped in shock, gazing down at the fallen bird before locking eyes with the Zorua. She grit her teeth and threw out a Pokeball, releasing Devi, her Nincada.

The Zorua growled, then turned around and wagged his tail at the bug, Taunting her. Devi was shocked. How DARE he?? She buzzed angrily at him, but Jemma knew that it didn't matter. She hadn't intended for Devi to do anything but be on the offensive. "Use X-Scissor!" The Zorua looked shocked, turning and looking at the trainer like she'd betrayed him. Jemma steeled herself. She wouldn't be fooled! Devi ran closer, slashing at the dark-type with her front claws. The Zorua fell onto his side, a small shiny object falling from his mouth.

Suddenly it all made sense. He was protecting his treasure. Jemma pursed her lips and then sighed. She pulled out two things: a Pokeball and a Revive. She tossed the Pokeball at the Zorua and knelt down to scoop up the Natu. While the Pokeball shook, she attempted to help the little bird chew the crystal so that she could recover. Once it was ingested, the bird's eyes fluttered open and gazed up at the human holding her. Jemma expected her to jump out of her arms, but there the bird lay. The blonde head tilted slightly at the Pokemon as Devi moved closer, still keeping a close eye on the Pokeball.

"Are you all right?" The green ball of feathers nodded in response to the woman's question, causing Jemma to smile. "I'm glad. Thank you for helping me. Would you like to join us?" The Natu hesitated briefly before nodding. Jemma returned the gesture and produced a second Pokeball, offering it to the Natu who tapped it with her beak and allowed it to absorb her. Once the ball was safely transported, she moved to pick up the shiny thing that the Zorua had dropped. It was just a golden bottle cap... How did it end up golden? She figured she might be able to get some mun for it, so she pocketed it and turned her attention back to the first Pokeball she threw.

"You did great, Devi. Thank you. Want to stay out and keep me company?" The Nincada nodded, crawling up to perch on her shoulder. The woman grinned in response to this and chuckled at the bug's antics. "Today has been a crazy day already... but guess what?" Devi perked, emitting a questioning noise. Jemma produced the Shiny Stone she'd found earlier and showed it to the Nincada. "This is a Shiny Stone. It's used to evolve a few different Pokemon. Misty will be able to use this once she evolves into a Roselia. Isn't that great?"

Devi looked at her curiously. Then she nodded, but Jemma could see the question in her eyes. "Don't worry, we'll get you to evolve soon enough. I can't wait to see you evolve into a Ninjask." Then she hummed softly in thought. "I've heard stories about Nincada evolving and being two separate Pokemon, actually. I wonder how that works..." Devi just looked at her in confusion. Becoming two separate Pokemon?! How could she do that?

Devi was alert the whole time and when she saw a Weedle about to climb up a tree, she was quick to act. She jumped from Jemma's shoulder and burrowed underground, quickly moving to burst from the ground beneath it and whack at it. The Weedle was quick enough to get a Poison Sting attack in, causing Devi to recoil slightly. Before she could move in to hit the Pokemon again, a Woobat swooped down and hit the Nincada with Assurance.

Seeing how this was going, Jemma pulled out a Pokeball and threw it out, hoping this could help. Out popped Ami, who promptly let out a deep snore as she was still resting. It hit hard and the Woobat decided it best to prepare ahead of time, using Future Sight and then looking confused as it used Amnesia to raise its defense. The Weedle followed up with a Bug Bite, nipping at the sleeping Spheal. Devi was not amused by the poison and hit the Weedle with a Metal Claw to finish it off, then focusing her attention on the Woobat. Before she could hit it herself, though, Ami let out another hideous Snore. Between the noise of her own snore and the glow that began to envelop her, Ami woke up. As she did, however, she transformed, evolving into a Sealeo.

Jemma gasped and squealed in excitement. "Oh my gosh! Ami, look at you!" The Woobat was much less amused and tried to use his charms to get out unharmed. It didn't seem as concerned with Devi, as he then turned around and hit her. "Devi, use X-Scissor! Ami, come on now... erm... give him a hug! Body Slam!" She hoped that would work to "trick" her Pokemon into attacking something she was now infatuated with. And it worked! Sort of, anyway. Ami shook herself out of her interest in the Woobat long enough to launch her attack, which was just enough to knock him out. Jemma made a noise of excitement and ran over, hugging the bigger seal. "You did so good. You evolved; I'm so happy for you." The Pokemon expressed her gratitude to her trainer and to Devi, who came over and expressed her own delight for the water-type as well as some disappointment that she was not evolved yet herself.

The blonde gave her bug a gentle pat and smiled. "Don't worry. It takes work. We're getting you there. It'll be wonderful to see when you evolve too." Ami made a noise of agreement and they all began to move, only for Devi to dart off and come back with yet another Shiny Stone, just like the one Jemma had gotten earlier for Misty. "Oh... Well, maybe we'll bring someone else into our family that can use this later, you think?" Devi buzzed at the possibility, causing the woman to giggle before she gave a thoughtful hum. Kneeling down to take the stone, she took out her Pokemon's capture balls. "You both did great, but I think you need to rest. I'll get you healed soon; I think it's time to head back toward home, anyway." Devi seemed disappointed, but both Pokemon went back into their "homes" without complaint, leaving Jemma to head back toward home.
