He scratches his chin, “Not necessary I suppose, it’s just less stuffy than calling you rookie all the time. I have a hard enough time keeping work at work and not bringing it home anyways.”


As he continues down the path Xavier notices the shelmet and steps to avoid it. Bahamut tenses up, sensing some unseen danger further ahead. A low rumbling can be heard as a large turtonator makes its way down the path towards them. Letting out a roar once it spots the group that makes the shelmet tuck into its shell for safety.


Putting on a severe and intense face, “Let me handle this Sarah, stay back. The shell on this thing is explosive and I don’t want you getting hurt. I guess a gym leader is never off the clock huh.” Looking down to his charmeleon, “You ready Bahamut? This guy looks tough. Hit him with a dragon pulse! That should loosen him up some.


A blue/purple light issues forth from Charmeleon’s mouth aimed towards the turtonator, who quickly turns around to show the attack its shell to soften the blow. It then lets out a low growl, flames building it’s snout as it begins to glow a faint red color with heat. A vicious gout of flame spews out towards the Charmeleon. “Bahamut! Hide yourself in a smokescreen!” With a quick nod it opens its mouth and smoke quickly fills the tunnel. Xavier ducks quickly to avoid the overheat fired by the turtonator as it flies overhead.


“Damn, that was close. Time to return fire! Dragon rage, then use dragon pulse!” Letting out a sharp growl of understanding the smoke quickly dissipates in blue flames that consume the turtonator, whose shell explodes violently from the heat of the overheat it just used and now the draconic flames of this attack.


The tunnel shakes with the force of the explosion and traces of blue light can be seen in the blast from the charmeleon’s continued attack.


Once the dust clears from the air, the turtonator is still left standing, a look of brutal determination on its face as if its willpower was the only reason it was left standing at all. Taking the opportunity before the monster regains itself, Xavier throws a pokeball at it.


“You did good, Bahamut!” visibly calming down, “Everyone else ok? That overheat didn’t hurt anyone did it?”

Watching the munchlax, Deanne, take off, “Yeah, I think we should follow it to make sure it doesn’t eat anything it ought not to…. Although that would be a rare thing indeed for a munchlax.”

Retracing their steps back out of the mine tunnels, “Well, this was a pleasant excursion. We should hang out off the clock more often I think.” Chuckling softly, “Hopefully the next time we do something it won’t involve turtles exploding at us.”


As Xavier finishes his sentence an agitated insect started screeching nearby. “For pity’s sake. What now?” looking around he quickly discovers the source of the aforementioned sound. A nearby karrablast seemed to be incensed by something. He could tell there was another pokemon around… some sort of trickster it felt playful although he couldn’t see it. It was after dark, so running into a ghost of some kind wouldn’t be unheard of. They were known to play tricks on other pokemon for fun. One seemed to have really worked this little bug up good. It began charging at the group once they made their way a little closer. “Damn it, I’ll handle the karrablast, see if you can’t find the pokemon that riled it up like this. It’s most likely a ghost type. See if Deanne there can’t sniff it out!”


“Bahamut, looks like break time isn’t here just yet. Soften it up with a dragon rage! Let’s see if we can’t calm it down.” Nodding the charmeleon unleashes blue flames upon the angry bug, which doesn’t seem to do much to slow it down at all.


The karrablast retaliates by swinging at Bahamut with its horn in an x pattern. Seeing it get close, “Good job! Now that it is close, finish it off with an inferno!” The charmeleon snarling as the bug dares to attack it. Just before the bug made contact with Bahamut he gives a sly smile, fire coming from between his teeth before he opens his mouth to unleash a blast of fire right into the karrablast’s face.


Its outraged cries turn to one of surprise as it falls over, very KO’d and twitching slightly. “How’s your battle going, Sarah?”
