“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” “Whewwwww…” Carrying a glistening film that highlighted her cheeks and neckline as she lifted a hand above her brow, Tachibana Saya let out a slow but deep breath as the slope she had been scaling seemed to finally begin to level off. I wonder if I can spy Yumi’s island from here? Dressed in a tank top and a pair of loose jogging botooms, the dark haired young woman turned slowly on the spot as she let her breathing return a little way to normal whilst simultaneously permitting the burning sensation in her thighs to ease as well, attempting to spot the place from which she had set off. Unfortunately, they look rather similar at this distance… The distant masses of floating land now like dark spots on the horizon, the blue eyes of the beauty could not do much to tell them apart anymore, and hoped that when she returned that evening a closer look might guide her way. For now though, Saya had other things to focus on, like her training. Carrying a pack on her back that she may or may not have placed a few large stones in alongside her other supplies to really make the most of her exertion, Miss Tachibana had stepped down from her pedestal in the sky in order to work on her stamina a bit by going on a nice, steep mountain hike. The place that the young woman had begun to think of her home nice enough in most regards but perhaps a little bit small and flat to really make it much of a challenge for someone who enjoyed the trials of nature, Saya was hoping to spend most of the day breaking a sweat as she traversed the lands that surrounded her surrogate home of Faraday. Well that’s enough dallying, sightseeing won’t help my strength or stamina… Sure that the crisp mountain air and rocky climbs might help to make her that little bit stronger tomorrow, she set off further up to slope to see what tests today might present…

Shooting Stars? Strange to see so many of them… Letting out a long outward gasp and looking toward the sky, as Saya weighted up whether she should put on another layer by looking at what the weather might bring her eyes were caught by something else. Trails of brightness seeming to draw lines across the sky above her, a seven fingered hand seemed to be spreading though the heavens with each digit seeming to veer away from the increasingly distant pack. The young woman waiting and watching this subtle spectacle that few would have the fortune to look upward and see, especially in the daylight, she quietly marvelled at the sight for a second or two before realizing noting that one of the shapes seemed to be dropping toward the peak that she was currently clambering up. Shhhhhhhhwoooooooooooooooooo-KUPAH! It’s going to land nearby? The sound of a quiet scream made by friction growing more and more apparent as the mysterious object drew nearer to her, Miss Tachibana’s eyes grew wide as she spotted the object pass over her head and then seem to crash into the rock beyond her with a noticeable crack. I wonder what it was? The ground beneath her feet seeming to quiver as something from the heavens slammed into it, while the quake that was created by this meteor was not enough to do little more than force Saya to spread her stance a little to steady herself, she couldn’t help but wonder what had dropped down from the sky. People used to say all sorts of things about shooting stars… The moment reminding the dark haired girl of many little tales she had heard as a girl, after a moment of consideration, Saya decided she could spend some of her training time investigating this crash. Souls returning from the afterlife, or kami descending from heaven… Fuelled a bit by the curiosity that her younger self had felt when hearing the tales associated with meteorites, Miss Tachibana sprang off the tips of her toes and broke into a light footed jog. Bouncing along with feet fast enough that she could easily correct a missed step, the altitude and incline made her pant as she rushed toward the fallen star, panting a little and pushing off with her hands where she could. Wasn’t there one about a great warrior who forged an unparalleled blade from a piece of a star? Mind filled with magnificent tales on which her brothers and herself had been raised, Miss Tachibana hopped and dragged herself over obstacles, following the signal of smoke that seemed to be rising toward the sky from the crater that this mystery had been created. Giving small, squeaking shrieks as she came close to slipping off the odd ledge but never deterred by the difficulty of the path, after a few minutes of jogging the young woman found herself breathing heavily and confronted by a dusty bowl that had been made in the mountain. Seems there was something left when it landed, then… Taking a moment to steady herself before moving into the fog-like patch of aeriated sand and earth, Saya placed her palm on the rim of the crater and found that in spite of the chilly climbs in which the meteor had fallen, it had left the ground rather warm. An encouraging prospect for the girl as she plunged a little deeper into the crater and waved her arm to try and dispel the cloud of dust that had been kicked up, as she stepped into the blanket of tan mist, the girl could see something glowing and then was given yet another reason to push herself forward. Areeereee! That… Sounded almost like a yelp?! A weak, almost pleading little shriek seeming to come from the area of the crater that was glowing, Miss Tachibana braced for a second at the sound of it before pushing herself forward boldly to see what was calling out to her. Guessing something, an animal presumably, might have been in the vicinity of the crash and maybe been hurt by it, Saya forced her way through the smoke and coughed a little, but what she found seemed unlike any being she had ever seen before. What is… A Hitodama? Shocked to find that whatever was glowing at the centre of this dusty crater was the same thing that seemed to be giving off pleading cries, though the blue eyed beauty had plunged into this chasing a few of the stories of her past, what she found reminded her of another. A small, tiny in fact little ball of light seeming to be whimpering gently, Miss Tachibana was reminded of superstitious stories about souls and ghosts and took a moment to stare at something that glistened and glowed and looked breathtakingly beautiful to her. “Goodness, are you OK?” Ducking down and kneeling next to the fallen star when it gave yet another whimpering call, though the ground right next to this tiny glowing being was hot enough to prickle at her legs even through the trousers she was wearing, Saya chose to ignore it. Reaching out toward the scared and seemingly injured little creature that had fallen down from heaven, the girl wondered what she could do to help the shining soul and then remembered something that she had in her pack. “Yumi-san said this is good for when Pokémon become injured, so maybe it will help you as well?” Twisting and letting the bag she had on her back drop to the ground with a small thud, Saya opened up the top and pulled out a small spray bottle that she had been given by her roommate. Apparently some concoction that could alleviate pain and promote recovery, according the redhead whom she lived with, while Miss Tachibana was not even sure if this glowing being even was a Pokémon, she decided to at least try the aid she had been given. “I hope that it will not sting too much…” Gently placing her palm on what looked to be the forehead of this star shaped being whilst the other hand gently sprayed a mist of healing tonic onto its flesh, while the odd creature jolted at the contact initially, the makeshift nurse was relieved to see that after a moment or two this mysterious being seemed to relax. The effect of the potion that Saya had used seeming help with the ailments it had suffered, the young woman smiled softly as she looked a pair of eyes that seemed to look a little less frightened. “Did that help?” The lips of the young woman parting just a little to show off teeth that seemed even brighter thanks to the radiance of this small, star-like being, Miss Tachibana couldn’t help but giggle as the glowing creature seemed to mimic her smile, grinning back at her. The act of chuckling seeming to make the tiny fragment of a star jolt, it seemed to zip up from underneath the hand of Saya to look at her face more intently, before mimicking that action as well. “Oh? Do you like me?” Giggling like a tiny glowing child before pushing forward to nuzzle her affectionately, Saya could quickly guess that this impressionable little extra-terrestrial had found itself endeared toward her, presumably because of her help. Wondering just what the creature was and thinking that Yumi might just be able to tell her, as the nippy little ball of light zipped and zapped through the air in front of her, Miss Tachibana found herself wondering if she should try to snag it like her red haired friend had taught her…

I wonder if Yumi will know what this one is? Holding out the red and white orb into which she had managed to coax the fallen star that she had encountered earlier, Miss Tachibana felt a little bit proud of herself. Managing to befriend a Pokémon partner without ever needing to resort to combat all by herself, there seemed to be a sense of achievement in the act she had performed, but as she continued higher into the mountains she would find that not all her attempts would prove so easily.
“Oh, hello…?” One particular opponent about to prove himself rather problematic to Saya as she marched along her highland trail, the young woman found herself a little shocked to discover what she thought was some kind of monk sitting crossed legged a little way ahead of her. Passing a greeting to the person that seemed to be considering something or other through meditation so deeply that he could not reply, the hiking girl paused for a second before deciding to move on quietly and discreetly, and that was when it happened.
“Ah!” Gasping in surprise as she felt something firm rap against her rump as she moved past the motionless man, Saya blinked for a second in shock as she realized something or other had just spanked her rear and had a good idea of who it was. “That was-!” Spinning on the spot and about to call out the character whom she had attempted to pass for his perceived perversion, to the surprise of the dark haired girl, when she turned she found that the figure had vanished. Seemingly no sign of the shape she had seemingly slipped by in the direction from where she had travelled, Miss Tachibana once again found herself blinking, before gasping again as the action was repeated.
“What are-!” Turning around as she felt a fresh tap laid onto her posterior, once again the dark haired girl found herself facing nothing at all and begun to wonder if she was imagining things, but was almost entirely sure she wasn’t. Taking a moment to steady her breathing and pulling the wooden practice sword she had brought along to defend herself just in case, she closed her eyes and held her sword aloft, high above her head and ready to swipe at anything that touched her. Luckily, she wasn’t in for a long wait.
“Ha!” Eyes snapping open as she felt that fast and familiar sense of pressure on her rear, with a movement that was more reflexive than designed, Saya swept her sword around herself and slapped whatever it was that was that was attempting such a vulgar act. Something or other behind her seeming to grunt as her piece of wood smacked its mitt, with the momentary delay that her response had created, Miss Tachibana managed to confirm her suspicions.
“Swine!” The husky monk that had been hunched over now standing up and shaking was she presumed was the paw that it had used to try and spank her, she shot forward and aimed to use her weapon to settle the score, swinging the polished piece of timber downward in order to knock this beast out. Yet, her effort seemed to be turned away almost effortlessly.
What in the world? The lecherous person seeming to somehow read the path of her sword perfectly, with the smallest of steps to the side, he seemed able to turn the strike away with a grassy prop he appeared to have been carrying. Flicking the fan in his hands just enough to deflect the attack of Miss Tachibana and send her just slightly off balance, as the beauty pushed her palm forward to try and steady herself she found that she suffered yet another rapping indignity from the spanking swine. The fan he had used to turn her attack away cracking against her rear, Saya found herself seething as her target drew his lips into a broad grin and began to howl with laughter, showing her that she might not be up against a man after all.
Those fangs… The blood of the beauty boiling as the ‘beast’ before her proved he was that in more than just name, a long and pointy set of canine tusks seemed to imply that what she was dealing with something a little less civilized than a person. However, this knowledge did not hold her rage back much, and so she launched into yet another futile effort to knock the animal out.
How does it know where I’m going to hit it?! Whipping her sword around wrathfully and only finding her anger growing as the ape-like being in front of her seemed to effortlessly weave its way around her attacks, the seething Saya was left panting and once more feeling her rear smarting from a fresh slap. Angry with this animal and yet her efforts thus far feeling futile to say the least, with a mind to make this monster pay Miss Tachibana reached for one of her Pokéball’s and decided to summon someone with the kind of swiftness and magic that might just get the better of him.
“Oh, great Tamadono, please help me in punishing this perverted beast!” The wind of the mountain whipping at the golden crest of the guardian that the girl had called upon, with tails seeming to snap and coil like the arms of an octopus Saya’s Ninetales was freed from her Pokéball and allowed to enter the fray. The eyes of the fox seeming to grow more slender as she sized up her opponent, after a second the vixen of Miss Tachibana leapt forwards with a pace her trainer couldn’t hope to match and tried to pounce on the ape, but once again the ape showed his skill in dodging. Tamadono was not done, however.
A torrent of fire exploding from the maw of the Samurai’s ally, the ape found himself on the back foot as the clever fox launched a follow up strike right off the bat, singing the fur of the smug animal and making him groan for a moment. However, he was far from done. Stumbling to one side before steadying himself, the beast used his leafy fan to brush away some embers from his body before seeming to cock his head in a manner that seemed to ask Saya’s friend if that was all she had, and something seemed to compel her to take the bait.

Growling angrily as her composure was seemingly burned away by the provocation of their enemy, Tamadono began to unleash blast after blast of flame, managing to tag her target again with one of them but more seeming to speed past the large but nimble frame of her target. Foxy fighter of the femme left heaving for breath when finally her array of attacks seemed to die down, and easy for the ape to dish out a reply to. Weaving from one side to the other to throw the vixen off as he attacked her, Saya winced as her Ninetails yelped with pain after being struck by the ape and found that she was compelled to intervene.
“Let us see how your tricks work on both of us, beast!” Springing forward with her sword at the ready to swat at their opponent, Saya hammered down with her blunt blade in an effort to get the better of the creature and yet once again he showed himself ready for anything that she could throw. Batting away the swipe of her sword once again as if her was playing with a child, Miss Tachibana grunted and thrust herself forwards again, aiming to run the ape down with her shoulder if she had to. Not given the chance to do so because of the beast’s admittedly brilliant ability in sensing what she was about to do, while the act did not afford the trainer much of a chance to do anything, it certainly did not either mean her efforts were entirely in vain.
Nice, Tamadono! Sent sprawling onto her hands and knees as she shifted too much of her weight to try and knock their enemy down, as Saya found herself falling next to her foxy fighter, she noted that the second or two that she had bought the Ninetales had not been idly wasted. Tamadono having sprung back to her feet whilst the ape had been distracted by Saya and readied one last ditch attempt at an attack, with his focus divided the cheeky monkey found himself with a torrent of fire rushing at him from point blank range and this time did not have the time to avoid it.
If you cannot take the heat… Mentally repeating part of a little verbal jab she had heard from Yumi’s TV as she was the fiery blast send their enemy spilling backward as a blackened mess, Saya smirked in satisfaction as she watched this wicked warrior slump down in defeat and then reached for one of her fresh snares. “Though, you still need to be taught some better manners, ape.” Launching a whirling ball towards the charred mess that had once been their opponent as Tamadono panted next to her, Miss Tachibana elected to trap this vulgar creature partly in an effort to prevent it continuing its base behaviours. Also sensing that the skill that this strange ape had shown could be something that proved useful, the young woman hoped that the slight tenderness her rear was currently experiencing would be enough sacrifice for her second attempt at capture to prove as much of a success as todays first…

It would appear that I have gotten quite high up now? Twisting as she pulled herself up and over the last ‘step’ of a section of short cliff faces and looking behind herself, Saya paused for a moment and looked out over the scenery that lay behind her. Taking small sips from her canteen as she tried to steady her breathing after the bout of heavy exercise she had just endured, the dark hair of the young woman danced lightly in the freshness that whipped past her as she looked over the landscape. Spying the crater from which she had found the glowing orb now looking small enough that it seemed little more than a dimple in the mountainside, Miss Tachibana smirked a little before recovering her footing and continuing on.
I wonder what Yumi has been doing today? Pushing her broad bottle of water back into one of the pouches on her pack before continuing on at a brisk pace, Saya found herself thinking of her roommate as she continued to blaze her trail higher still, speculating as to the activity of the other woman. Imagining that it probably did the two of them good to have some time apart every now and then, in hindsight some may have seen the friendship that the Miss’s Tachibana and Tasukai had built as a little rushed.
Establishing a quick friendship and moving in together despite only knowing one another for a few weeks, people might have been alarmed with the intensity with which the girls had grown close, but Saya wasn’t. Almost all alone in this world aside from the redhead she had waiting at home, it was a tremendous comfort to know she had at least one person who she could look forwards to seeing. Thinking of the sweet little moments that she had shared with Yumi as she continued, Miss Tachibana continued to march up the trail in front of her until she found herself coming across the second soul today who seemed to be meditating. This one, however, she guessed was a Pokémon right off the bat.
“Oh, hmmmm…” Perhaps the shameful experience that she had undergone with the ape making Saya a little bit suspicious as she spotted a small soul that looked to be wearing a hat shaped like an onion, the girl felt a little bit of hesitation as she looked at a serene soul a short way ahead of her. A being the size of toddler with bright blue skin sitting with their legs tucked up in front of them and hovering a little way above a small cresting piece of rock, the hiker narrowed her eyes a little and contemplated simply carrying on, albeit cautiously given the experience earlier. Yet, she couldn’t help but stare for a moment at the way that this seemingly spiritual soul seemed to float so peacefully, and did so for long enough that the creature caught wind of her presence.
“Oh, goodness, sorry if I disturbed you…” Only realizing how long she had been standing there and staring as one eye of the meditating mon then the other opened to look at her, Miss Tachibana felt suddenly as if she was intruding and made to move along, only to find her path being barred. Are we about to have another odd ordeal? The small, blue bodied being vaulting from the place it was meditating and settling on the ground in front of Saya, with a tip of its paw it seemed to indicate that it wanted her to join it on the ground.
“You wish to commune with the soul… Together?” The young woman a little confused by the gesture but at least carrying the curiosity needed to engage it, she pulled her pack from her back and laid it on the ground next to herself as she sat down, pulling her legs into a crossed position to mimic the creature in front of her and staring at it for a second. Meditation a skill that she had practiced many times as a compliment to her more physically orientated skillset, while the young woman’s experience today kept her still quite sceptical of this strange creature, she found herself slowly relaxing once she had closed her eyes.
The mountain... Listening to her breathing like it was some kind of tide that was rolling into and out of her, as more complicated thoughts began to melt from her mind, Miss Tachibana could feel herself being kind of ‘entranced’ and absorbed into her environment. The image of the mountain which she had been scaling seeming like the only thing she could picture, after a while it almost felt like she could see herself from outside her body, sitting on the mountainside with this apparently peaceful creature in front of her. The image of this peak seeming to be laid out in her mind for her to explore, while she had no idea if what she could picture was real or imaginary, she felt some kind of pull toward the peak. What lies upon it... Allowing this instinct to guide her, in the mind of Saya she could see something vague and yet important waiting ahead of her, and this knowledge seemed to awaken the woman from the dream she had entered.
“O-Oh!” Opening her eyes slowly and feeling part of the fatigue she had been feeling in climbing this peak seeming to have been lifted, as the vision of the girl cleared she spied a gentle pair of eyes and smile looking back at her. The odd little being before her giving her a small nod of respect that seemed to carry a sense of appreciation for sharing a spiritual moment with her, it seemed to hold out its paw to her gently as if to ask quite literally if she would need a hand?

“I would be delighted to have your company~” Taking the hand that was offered to her and gripping it gently, Saya uncrossed her legs and shifted to a kneeling position so that she might bow more fully to the blue being that offered her support. Both the woman and the Pokémon that she had managed to earn their respect of dipping forward with their hands together in prayer position, from a higher position something watched over the duo as they straightened and begun to climb a little higher up the mountain.
A figure that seemed to resemble the small soul who had gone with Saya watching the encounter between the two quite intensely, the eyes of this unknown figure seemed to follow the duo as they continued up the mountain. In truth a more evolved form of the Meditite that Miss Tachibana, whether it was a family member or friend of the partner whom the girl had made seemed vague, but it certainly appeared to have been watching over its younger form. What it made of the encounter between the girl and its child species anyone’s guess, rather than interfere in the pairing it seemed to instead choose to meditate on this development, leaving the impression it at least seemed to have a small confidence that things would turn out well.
Saya and her Meditite blind to the being that had been watching over them and instead setting off further up the mountain, with the vision of something special waiting for her atop the peak the young woman felt herself filled with vigour…

“We seem to be… Nearly there!” Panting heavily as she drew close to the peak of the mountain, the thinning air and strong wind that was whipping around these lofty climbs was leaving robbing Saya of her stamina, but her ‘guide’ fared better. Choosing to call the small, blue bodied being ‘Seion’ for lack of a proper name for her, perhaps it was the adaptation to mountain life that this meditating Pokémon had undergone or the fact that the wind seemed to afflict her small and lower to the ground stature less, but whatever it happened to be the onion headed being seemed capable of striding ahead of Miss Tachibana. Moving along and then taking a short break to let the woman catch up the dozen or so steps she drew ahead, Seion was overshadowing even the physical capacity of the swordswoman with whom she travelled.
“What is it?” The stalwart scaler stopping in front of Saya all of a sudden, while for a moment the girl wondered if Seion was allowing her to catch up again, something seemed different about her posture. Standing alert in front of Miss Tachibana and holding a hand out that seemed to say ‘stay back’, the young woman pulled the wooden weapon from her pack and scanned the mountainside, wondering if something was about to attack them. “Huah!” The instinct of the girl with hair so dark proving to be right on the mark, the mountaineering Miss found herself gasping in surprise as something lurched toward her, showing her expectation correct in most ways. What shocked Saya not the incoming attack but rather the direction from where it came, the girl let out a cry as something hammered down from above her, sending her rolling backwards and needing to jab her weapon into the ground to steady herself.
Is that… A Dragon? Panting heavily even from this light act of exertion, Saya lifted herself higher as something with a long neck and almost fluffy, feathered wings seemed to rumble before her. The beast that had dived down upon her seeming to give a low, quaking growl that showed it meant business, had the inexperienced trainer been more knowledgeable she might have wondered why a usually pacific beast was grumbling like this, but all she could see was something large and angry. A guardian of whatever treasure lurked ahead, perhaps?
At least we have it outnumbered… Saya readying her weapon to strike at this raging serpent and tackle it alongside Seion, she could just about see the white ‘hat’ of her ally thanks to the slope of the mountain and was relieved to see her companion still in the fight. Sword at the ready and lunging forwards, the girl was humbled a little as the dragon spun around on the spot and sent a squall her way to knock herself off balance, but her efforts were not entirely wasted. The dragon turning but the moment it spent to deal with her leaving it a second behind the stride if Seion, it grunted as the plucky little Pokémon used her whole body as a battering ram and slammed her skull into the belly of the beast.
“That’s it! A Dragon will not go down easily, but if we can keep it on the back foot, we may be able to get the better of the bout!” Smirking as her partner dished out a smarting strike, Miss Tachibana called out with encouragement to her battle buddy, holding her blade out and ready to deal out equal punishment when the grumbling creature dropped its guard again. However, before she could, it did something spectacular. The rumbling warning that the dragon had been giving them suddenly turning into a howl that seemed to bend the wild wind to its will, the foe of the femme seemed to call upon a far stronger squall to deal with Seion than which it had deterred her.
“Look out, Seion!” A spiralling channel of pure air that seemed to spin like a drill, while Saya shouted toward her ally in order to try and warn him of the attack, it did neither of them any good. Looping air seeming to envelope the small body of the onion headed ally and send him spinning horizontally backward, the dark haired mountaineer winced as her partner slammed into a slab of stone and then was left in a heap in front of it, seeming to leave her alone against this wild beast.
“Wicked serpent!” Far from deterred by the loss of her partner and instead spurred on by it, while the body of Miss Tachibana felt heavy from exertion and her lungs were still burning because of how heavily she needed to rely on them just to stand, she still lunged forward nastily. Whipping her sword across the skull of the dragon and hitting it with all the clout she had, while even this motion made Saya feel even more exhausted by this altitude she stared down the beast before her. Exchanging a steely glare with the serpent after her attack, while the strike that she had delivered seemed to do little actual damage to the head of the creature before her, it did seem to get its attention.
“In my homeland, it is said that even the smallest mouse can have the strength of a tiger when its back is against the wall, beast…” The dragon turning around again and focusing on her fully, with her sword raised and eyes narrow Saya spoke coolly in the face of the dragon that glowered before her. Wooden weapon held above her head and ready to strike down if it snapped out against her, for a second or two even the wind itself seemed to grow silent as two combatants stared at one another unflinchingly, before one of them gave a wicked howl and ducked forward.
“EI!” Giving a deep cry of battle as she saw the dragon appearing to lunge toward her, the arms of Miss Tachibana seemed to respond like a spring that had been waiting and waiting to release the tension within them. Arms snapping forward with a stroke which carried every ounce of exertion she could squeeze from it, to her horror Saya spotted something blue atop the skull of her enemy and slammed on her breaks, stopping her curved shaft only inches above the onion hat that Seion appeared to enjoy wearing.
The Pokémon that had been buffeted backward wheezing heavily and carrying no small number of wounds and bruises, Miss Tachibana gasped as her arms let loose a painful throb, leaving her trembling as she looked at the stern expression her partner carried. Seeming to have used the distraction that Saya had provided to hammer the head of the dragon hard into the mountainside, beneath the feet of Seion the beast they had battled growled, before going limp and collapsing.
“T-That was… A nice kick, well timed…” The young woman offering a little compliment to her partner through breathy words that spoke of her exhaustion, she spent a moment staring at the fallen dragon before reaching into her pack with one of her shaky hands. Seion seeming to sense the intention of the rookie trainer and nodding before hopping off fallen form of their foe, with a slightly limp throw Saya tossed a trap toward the large and powerful serpent in the hopes of snagging such a potent beast…

“Goodness, it seems the fight has taken a lot… Out of you?” Scooping up the Pokéball in which her furious dragon was now trapped, Saya turned toward her small but victorious partner with concern, but found herself being awed instead. Seion seeming to take a slow outward breath before crossing her legs and assuming a meditative position, as the trainer looked on she saw her guide take on a white aura, and in seconds the wounds she had suffered seemed to almost melt away? Bruises seeming to vanish whilst the cuts and grazes that the blue fighter had suffered seeming to close on their own, after hovering for a few seconds Miss Meditite appeared to be the picture of health and wellbeing, making her trainer wonder just how such a feat had been pulled off? “It would seem you have a few secrets beyond the simple method to enlightenment, or is that part and parcel of what you can do?” Putting the weapon she had drawn back behind the strap on her pack which she had used to carry it and then pocketing the Pokéball as well, Miss Tachibana flashed a smirk at her mountaineering companion as she opened her eyes, noting that while the spiritualist had healed her wounds she still looked rather tired. Seion still seeming intent on pressing forward, after the duo had taken a minute or so to catch their breath they both began to march up the incline toward the peak, wondering what exactly the treasure was that they might find. … “Almost… There!” Practically gasping for air as she pulled herself forward using her hands, as Saya finally managed to reach the summit of the ‘spire’ that she had been challenging, her body felt so worn that she almost collapsed when finally the ground levelled out a little. Stumbling forwards and landing on her hands and knees as she panted, a foot or two in front of her was Seion who was breathing a little bit heavily too, but far from as exhausted as her trainer currently was. “W-What is it, Se-Seion?” The onion-headed mountaineer seeming to glance around for a few seconds before giving a small cry, Miss Tachibana weakly wondered what had caught the attention of her blue Sherpa before spotting where the girl was headed. A small, bowl-like crest only a half dozen meters or so ahead of the duo, with a grunt Saya pushed herself back onto her feet and forced herself forward, curious to see what if anything was in it. Small enough that even the little above knee-high Seion could peak over the rim of this crater-like extension of the earth, the dark haired girl wondered if she might have found a smaller star child to accompany the glowing being she had found herself earlier on, but was mistaken. This was something rather different. “Is this…?” Still breathing rather hard from her climb but reaching forward as she spied something round and oblong resting in the natural gulf, Miss Tachibana lightly placed her hand on top of a blue ovoid, wondering if it was real. “Feels quite cold, the wind and altitude probably weren’t good for- Oh! It moved!” The brow of the beauty furrowing a little bit as she sensed almost no warmth from the egg she had discovered, though initially she had assumed it abandoned and wasted by whatever parent had left it here, the sudden sensation of the egg seeming to ‘jump’ slightly against her made the young woman shriek. Is it still alive? Surprised to notice movement seeming to come from within the almost frosty feeling object, she left her hand on top of the item for several more seconds and closed her eyes, trying to see if she had imagined the act. Eyes of the young woman widening as she sensed little tremors seeming to travel through the egg, without a moment’s hesitation Saya scooped the spheroid into her arms and held it close to her, trying to warm the surface up and preserve whatever slept beneath it. “I will take care of this young one…” Thinking nothing of lifting up the tank top she was wearing and shoving the orb against her stomach, while she shivered slightly at the coldness that she felt from the shell, Miss Tachibana opted to tough out the sensation as she wrapped her arm underneath the egg and her sleeveless shirt to support it. Finding that the heat of her body seemed to quickly take away the discomfort anyway, the young woman smiled softly with a bulge over her belly, stroking the shape gently as she stood up and looked back the way that she had come. “I do not know much about raising eggs and babies, but my friend might do… I must head back with all the haste I can manage?” Looking toward the blue shape of the friend she had made on the mountain and declaring her intent to race back down it as best she could, as the little onion-headed warrior woman gave a nod of affirmation, Saya found that her purpose seemed to restore some of her vigour. The feeling of carrying this egg and needing to save whatever it was inside it seeming to wipe away some of the fatigue that she felt, the femme set off with fast but steady steps and Seion following her close behind. Don’t worry little egg, I am sure that Yumi will know best how to look after you… Huffing a little bit breathlessly as she descended down the mountainside with a bulge that made her look like she was with child, Saya silently tried to reassure the unhatched being that she carried, ignoring the weariness that persisted in her limbs and striding forward. However, she was not given the chance to go too far before she found yet another ‘obstacle’ in her path. “What is…? Do you feel that?” Wobbling slightly as she felt the earth beneath her feet seeming to quiver as she dropped down to an altitude a little easier on her lungs, with one hand supporting her ‘baby’, Saya steadied herself on the side of a cliff and looked toward her onion headed partner. Sieon nodding with silent suspicion and stepping forward, Miss Tachibana proceeded cautiously behind her guide as the tremor beneath her steps seemed to grow stronger with every movement of her feet forwards, picking up the sound of something that seemed to be grunting at the same time as the quakes began. “Is that creature making these tremors?” Clutching her egg a little more tightly as she laid eyes on something that looked like a bright yellow sack bouncing off rocks and walls with everything it had, Saya looked at a rather strange but enthusiastic entity that seemed to either be trying to train itself to be tougher, or prove itself the ultimate masochist. Bouncing off boulders and the sides of nearby cliffs before falling to the ground and appearing to be enjoying itself, it was rather an odd sight to behold for the young trainer, and also one she discovered regret for interrupting. 1190 Words, continuing in follow up

“We would really prefer to avoid any conflict, if at all possible?” One of the bizarre falls that the turnip-shaped Pokémon threw itself into meaning it rolled over and looked toward Miss Tachibana and her chaperone, the girl offered a smile and her best attempt to dissuade the creature from hostilities, but it appeared to do no good. The yellow bag of a brute seeming to beat its chest as it brushed away her efforts to escape a battle and lunging forward, luckily it found its path being blocked by Seion, who gave a short but aggressive growl to the creature. “Thank you, Seion, but I know that you are already rather exhausted…” Seeming intent on protecting Saya and her egg, the young woman felt a little touched by the determination of the mountain meditator, but knew that the climb and battle that her new friend had undergone had already fatigued the creature a great deal. “Luckily though, I saw fit to bring along the strongest guardian today!” Nodding at Seion’s efforts to protect her but waving the notion away, with a flick of her free hand Miss Tachibana sent a ball forward which contained the Pokémon which she held in the highest regard, wanting to get this battle over and done with as quickly as she could. Unfortunately, the level of esteem she gave her selection might not have been shared by many. Wop wop wop wop wop wop wop wopwop wop wop A golden being with long whiskers and a majestic crown showing a complete lack of regal status as it flopped ineffectually on the ground, Saya smirked confidently as she revealed the Magikarp that she had brought with her, but both her blue partner and the yellow enemy they faced seemed more confused than anything. No one seemed more mystified than the fish, however. Bobbing around the ground and flapping his fins with very little result, while the movements it made were somewhat unpredictable, they were hardly impressive so far. “Hiiiiii! HIIIIII!” Their yellow foe growing tired of the farce after about a half minute, after howling and raising its mitts high up, the brute began to pummel… Itself? The fists of the fighter flailing as it pounded its own body angrily, as if throwing a tantrum, for a few seconds Saya and Seion watched over a scene that looked like some bizarre ritual. One side of the field featuring a fish that was flopping and flapping around with everything it had, the other had a golden garbage bag hammering its own gut, making for one of the weirdest dance contests one had ever seen. Luckily, this was just the warm up for the real fight. It seems to have worn itself out quite a bit? What a strange Pokémon… Saya arching her brow as she looked at their yellow enemy when its vigorous self-abuse finally seemed to ebb away, she couldn’t help but feel rather sceptical over what her foe had done. The sack of spuds wheezing and covered in bruises that it had given itself, while it was clear that the creature had hurt itself rather severely, it seemed to soldier on and continue the fight. “Now, show the enemy the true grandeur you possess, Shachimaru!” Whether it was trying to give itself a handicap or something Miss Tachibana did not know, but regardless of the intent, Saya was not prepared to offer a similar encumbrance. Shouting words of encouragement to her flopping partner as the golden koi continued to limply lurch around the ground, as their enemy loomed over the Magikarp it seemed that her words had been in vain until something incredible happened. Possibly spurred on by the faith of his trainer or perhaps having been a secret genius who had been feigning ineptness all along, as the yellow enemy leered at him, Shachimaru grew still for just a second or two. Seeming to sense the danger he was in and giving one hell of a flick of his tail as the bulky brute lunged forwards, by only a hair the fish lurched upward and into the air as if someone has set off an invisible spout beneath his body. “Whooooaaaaaa!” Evading the attack by a little but still enough to keep himself safe, as the ring-cheeked bully blinked in surprise, the little fish that could sped into the air with a jump that made even his trainer goggle. Saya watching on in awe as her golden pet climbed upward like Wadatsumi climbing from the ocean, a small tear began to build in the corner of her eye as the faith she had always had in something others always referred to as a failure seemed to pay off. Magnificent… Soaring through the air almost high enough to be level with the peak that the girl had climbed before turning back over himself like and acrobat and diving back down towards the ground like a diving eagle, as Shachi drew closer and closer Miss Tachibana felt like there was something different in his eyes. The water dweller looking like he had a kind of fire in his expression as he plummeted downward with a show of determination few others might see from a Magikarp, with an almighty slap the big body of the golden koi collided with the sack and hammered his enemy into the ground with righteousness, before flopping back on the ground and leaving the sack in his wake. “Amazing, Shachimaru!” Saya grinning from ear to ear as their enemy struggled to get back up after the heavenly ascendance that the Magikarp had performed, though her fighter had resumed his largely harmless flailing, the quivering state of their adversary seemed to imply the victory was his. “Now, you are mine, punching bag!” Whatever vigour that the bully had left seeming to not be enough to overcome the shock of what had just happened to it, Miss Tachibana gave a confident nod before pulling a fresh pokéball from her pocket and hurling it toward the foe they had felled. Reasoning that a masochistic monster like this one might make for a good training partner once she set herself up with a Shinai, or even loaning him to Ko-ken or Yumi’s other bruisers, Saya reckoned she could have rather an asset on her hands if her capture proved true…
