YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Sarah stretched getting off of the metro train near the Liggs Mines and waited for her brother to follow. She had managed to coax him, kindly, into coming with her to check out the festivities in the regions capitol but had chosen to get off at the earlier metro station to give him a chance to adjust from being in the bustle of the train. It was early afternoon and Sarah had compensated for work by going in this morning earlier than her normal shift and had stayed late the night prior. She was, admittedly, tired but a few cups of coffee and the excitement of the festival sights had her alert and uncharacteristically, to her peers, peppy; to her brother though her eagerness was a normal trait for his sister. By choosing an earlier time in the day to explore the festival guaranteed a lighter crowd both in the upper and inner cities, which meant less people for Malik to have to deal with. This had been one of her selling points, also offering to take him out to lunch and do or get (within reason) anything that he set his mind on. Overall Sarah was bursting with excitement, their first festival in their new home and a chance to start new traditions. MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Malik had been incredibly reluctant to come out today, but since Sarah was going to lengths to get him out, he wound up rolling out of bed out of sheer pity he felt for her. While they were on the train, her energy was noticed, but went ignored by Malik. Rather than look up and around at the passengers of the train or the going ons that passed them as it moved, he had his elbows on his knees and his head down, blonde hair helping hide his face from strangers.
Eye contact was the last of things he wanted right now. The over stimulation that came with school had worn him down for the week, even with a teacher and classmates that understood when and why to give him space simply from the nuances he gave off, he found his self drained more than usual. Luckily though, Sarah was being quiet, for the most part. That or he had accidentally blocked her out when he got distracted counting the spots on the train floor's pattern. It took the train coming to a halt and everything around him producing significant noise and movement to snap him out of it.
As Sarah was reaching a full stand, he finally looked up and around, standing up to follow her out of the train as well. Even in the daytime though, the place was sure to be busy. People trying to get in as much time at the festival as they could before having to head to bed for a variety of reasons. Shoving his hands into the pocket of his sleeveless hoodie, Malik gave the place a glance before lowering his head to focus on Sarah's heels as she led the way.
As he adapted to the noise though, he was sure to come out of his shell just a bit more. NOTES: go ahead and open it if you want. IDPC ☼ TAGS: Sarah Hawk

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Sarah knew the reality that Malik had came out of their little abode for her sake more than anything, she appreciated that even though she was trying to do something for him. Their dynamic at least showed that they looked after the other; she wanting to help him acclimate and do knew things, while he just wanted to ensure that her energies were not wasted. Once he caught up to her she lead the way out of the station ensuring that the path was clear of excess bodies that miled around them. As they passed into the lobby Sarah spied a discarded pamphlet of the festival which she grabbed giving it a new patron to service. She opened it up so she could look at it seeing an array of activities from food, vendors, games, and even art and science exhibits. She guided them over to a bench so they could determine what activities they were most interested in. “So,” she said crossing her legs and opening the pamphlet up so he could see as well “what strikes our interests? They have a science and arts exhibit…” she pointed out She also noticed that there were some ranked pokemon battles and that would be interesting to watch as well. There were so many opportunities though. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS NOTES:|TAGS: Malik|WORD COUNT:

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Well, at least she wasn't talking and talking and talking nonstop. He might have literally gone insane if that had been an event to start up while they were out here. There were so many voices, all chattering, some people speaking much too loudly than what was neccessary for their friends to hear them. Malik actually placed his hands on his ears for a little bit until he bumped into Sarah as she picked something up.
Removing his hands from over his ears, he followed her to a bench where they both sat down. Carefully, he peered over to the pamphlet as she opened it up to go down a list of things that were going on for the day. His dark eyes looked over it carefully, but there weren't too many things he was horribly interested in going to or seeing. He wouldn't mind science and art, but it was also a question of what Sarah wanted to deal with.
He despised feeling like a burden, and he hated doing things that only he enjoyed if others were around. Blinking and staring at the pamphlet a moment longer, his gaze turned to Sarah's shoulder. His answer? At first, it was just a light shrug, he had no honest clue what to do, outside of hiding from the presence of others that were out and about. "I dunno. What do you want to do?" He asked quietly.
In the long run, it'd just be considerably easier for Malik to follow around Sarah and let her do things. He'd read signs and billboards that they happened across as they moved. He was a fast reader, and never had to spend time lingering to absorb whatever he was reading, so it was easy for him to follow people while literally reading the surroundings.

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Sarah had been with Malik for fifteen years at this point and she had spent a lengthy amount of time going to the effort of being able to adapt to his set of needs. She knew he had always seen it as troublesome, she didn’t have a way around that except to be as open and flexible with him as she could. She was glad she had pulled him out of the crowd and into the quiet corner for the time being. When he shrugged lightly and deferred to her she smiled softly in understanding and patted his knee reassuringly. It was her silent way of telling him that she would take it slow and not overwhelm him, also that she had his best interests in mind overall. He bore with her on days when she needed to rattle things off even when he wasn’t really in a place he could process it all. They had a push and pull, she was starting to notice more lately how he would defer to her preferences, while she appreciated his consideration it was a new concept for her only because she had spent so long watching over him instead of being watched over herself. “Well, I think the art and science exhibits would be a great place to start…it would be quiet and we could meander a little and see where we get carried too?” she offered curiously. She wouldn’t take him to the match rings unless he opted for it. It would be too high on the stimuli and if the noise of the station was enough to overwhelm him he would overload there. No, this afternoon was more for his interests that her own. At least in her book, now that they were here it was possible he might try to eek away from her agenda with that. Nothing wrong with either one. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS NOTES:|TAGS: Malik |WORD COUNT:

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ Malik looked to the phamplet once again and gave her a silent nod. "Science and art are nice." It'd be a good starting point, she was right. It'd give him time to see how well he'd be able to adapt to all of this. More than likely though, he'd slowly crawl out of his shell and be a little more accepting of all the noise and people potentially bumping into him or trying to initiate any sort of contact, verbal or physical.
Shuddering some at the thought of being social, malik shook his head. Maybe if he didn't have a headache after all this, they could go watch battles. "When do the battles start?" He asked, voice still soft as ever as he peered over to the phamplet once again, eyes reading the page once again, looking for the time to double check.

YOU'LL HAVE TO RISE ABOVE THE BEST AND PROVE YOURSELF, YOUR SPIRIT NEVER DIES ❝ Sarah lowkey kept her surprise at Malik’s continued attempt at interest. She had honestly thought by the time they had gotten to the station in Liggs he would need to promptly turn around and get on the next train. She smiled softly and looked at the map “The exhibits are here,” she pointed to the artsy district of the map where more specialized vendors were set up “if we cut through this corner of the carnival grounds we can get there without dealing with too much of the high traffic paths” she trailed her finger along the map. Then at his question she did look at him with mild surprise and smiled before flipping the map and looking at the schedule. “Looks like they take an intermission…and resume around 3pm” she mused “that gives us a couple of hours to take it easy, meander, and see if we have the energy to watch some of them if it’s something you are interested in?MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS NOTES:|TAGS: Malik |WORD COUNT:

MY ACTIONS WILL SPEAK FOR ME AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL BE MORE LOUD ☼ He was definitely fighting the urge to curl up somewhere or to run back to the train station and wait, but he wouldn't do it, no matter how much his body was screaming at him to get out of this place. But he held it together, eyes locked on Sarah's shoulder. "Lead the way." He told her quietly, standing up, his eyes never leaving her shoulder.
"We'll see." He answered to the battle comment. A couple of hours was a hell of a lot of exposure for him in such a crowded event. He didn't know where his mind would be by the time that came around, or if they'd already be on a train back because he was being overloaded because these.... crowds were ridiculous.
