It was the same time of year for the annual ‘Star Festival’ in the Veria region, and Cyrus had lived on the continent long enough to learn that there was no way to avoid the damned thing. The aging man didn’t have anything against it in particular, but he had always preferred to keep a low profile. Almost anyone that met him could tell that he wasn’t from here, but at least with all the commotion going on.. he could pass for a foreign tourist if he had to. A cool night sky had taken over the town known as Liggs, but wasn’t going to stop a celebration all about the stars! Streetlights around the city had been dimmed, or completely shut off to give a better view of the sky above, most of the light that was illuminating the area came from candlelight. Russ’ dark skin tone was almost hiding him in the night as he pushed his way through the crowds slowly.
Tents lined the streets all around him, each a little different than the last. Some sold clothing, and trinkets. Other vendors had gadgets. He wasn’t looking for any of that right now, his stomach was empty.. and all these people brought his favorite kind of merchant.. ones that sold food. Normally a very grumpy individual, the smells that enticed him brought a sly grin to his face. Even the angriest dog had to enjoy a meal once in a while. Before long, Cyrus found himself in a small tarp hut haggling over a rack of smoked ribs. He knew most people had a set price, but Russ was a cheap bastard by nature... and his annoying habit won out. A couple nasty glares got him some fine meats at a discount, and without wasting any time he elbowed his way to the nearest table he could find. Once seated, he waved at the cook, and requested a plate a greens, and another of some chopped sausage.
A pair of Pokemon burst out of red beams beside him, and looked around confused. One was a trusted bug, Hammer the Heracross, and opposite to him was Victor, a young Murkrow. “What are you looking around like that for? Don’tcha want dinner?” Cyrus snapped at them both, and practically inhaled his own plate right in front of them. He wasn’t going to bother waiting, even if they had an excellent day of workouts behind them. “Your’s is coming guys,” The pepper haired man reassured them, and wiped his face along the side of one of his shirt’s sleeves, “Eat up boys, you earned it.” After only a couple more moments, the rest of his order came through so that his team could eat once Cyrus had already long finished. Without even batting much of an eye at the bill, the man laid out cash on the table to cover it before sitting back to relax in his chair. As he did, it gave him a chance to scan the cramped tent with fresh-fed eyes.
A sound a couple seats over perked his interest, and Cyrus turned to see just what it was. Dice. There was some sort of gambling game going on, and his tapped his fingers on the table mildly interested. While it was tempting, he wanted something else. A drink maybe, though hell someone might be up for a little battling! Who knows?

rise to be the change you wish to see This was getting absolutely out of hand. He let out a low huff air while Freja rolled her eyes, walking next to him. "At this point, I feel like we're failing him." Aleks spoke up to the girl next to him, who simply looked back at him with bored eyes, one eyebrow lifting up. "You have a point, I'm afraid.". Well, at least Freja was agreeing with him.
This was the second time today they had lost their middle sibling to his tendency to wander away. "It's a wonder how he can navigate the wilds as well as he does, but the moment you turn your back in a city, he's gone." His sister shook her head as well "This sucks." They both let out another collective sigh. "You'd figure we'd also be adept at finding his-" Aleks's thoughts were cut off by a "holy shit I found you guys" from behind them. They both whipped around to see their brother running over to them, people moving out of the living tank's way.
"Bjarke." Freja was shaking her head while Aleks heavily considered lecturing him, but they didn't. Instead, Freja agreed to take him to the ranger's stall to find their dad and he got to watch as his sister pulled on the middle sibling's arm, dragging him away, knuckles white and bent on not letting him get away from her again.
Aleks had started walking backwards, turning around just in time to nearly bump into a man that had been at a table. His face turned red, realizing that he would've crashed over top of a table. "Ah, sorry." He spoke up quickly, straightening his self. He had been off duty for the day, so instead of the ranger attire, he was wearing a tanktop and pair of jeans. So... at least he wouldn't shame the Ranger's colors by acting like an idiot in public... hooray?

It didn’t take long for Russ’ train of thought to get derailed, some kid almost came tumbling over his team’s table. Both the Heracross, and Murkrow startled for only a moment, before continuing on with their meal greedily. Cyrus turned his gaze toward the younger lad, and realized that this guy mean no real harm. His whole face didn’t give much of a reaction, but his eyes thinned.. if only for a moment. “Eh, it’s not big deal kid. Even if these one’s got a little bit spooked,” He waved off the apology before pointing over to his two Pokemon, “Not much room in the whole town today” He wasn’t particularly worried about being recognized, or caught by a complete stranger because lately his shady activities have hit a bit of a lull. Soon though, Cyrus wanted to change that. Ambition was starting to burn within him for something grander than just the pebbles from a theft here, and there.
The crowds were starting to gather together just outside the tent, and it was getting more dense with people than ever. Whispers, and conversations started to overlap... but then a loud noise silenced them all. Explosions, but not violent ones. Colorful trails started to illuminate the sky in the form of fireworks, and collectively an ocean of ‘oooohs’ and ‘ahhhhs’ started to break through the folks outside watching. “So, kid,” Cyrus said drawing his attention away from the light show outside, “Considering it’s gonna be a hassle to walk through that mess right now, got time for a drink? I mean, if you’re old enough for one anyway. Think of it as a token of gratitude, Hammer would’ve lost it if his veggies ended up all over the place.” The Heracross grumbled at the suggestion, and hugged his salad bowl to him protectively.. which made the aging trainer laugh hardly. “See that! The true face of Gluttony himself!” He shouted with a point, and a sly grin as he pulled up another chair for his table.

rise to be the change you wish to see Oh no he also startled the Pokemon. He blinked though when the large man took it in stride. He nodded his head though in silent thanks as he brushed it off. Ok, well, maybe this wouldn't be as bad as he thought it was. He looked to the two Pokemon that were eating their meal, at least they didn't seem too entirely disturbed by him crashing in like that. "Yea. This festival is crazy." He agreed to the comment about there not being much room. Pokemon crowd control got out of hand way too much with this crowd. It's like people sometimes forgot that there were wild Pokemon in alley ways and such, and therefore, should be respected.
He looked over to the man and shook his head. "Ah. I'm sorry. I shouldn't drink." With the fact that one, he'd never had alcohol, and two, Bjarke's exposure to anything alcohol related should be low, he had to deny. "I won't take your gratitude forgranted. Some water would be fine." He looked to the Heracross and smiled. "Sorry Hammer." He usually wasn't so clumsy, but he had a way of defying even his own logic. Sitting in the chair carefully, making sure he didn't hit his knees or legs on the table.
"He reminds me of my brother." Aleks said in a joking, low voice, grinning at the Heracross that clung to the salad as if his life depended on it. He'd let his own Pokemon out.. but he didn't want to intimidate the other pokemon. A Braviary would be a bad idea, and Mudsdale weren't allowed on city streets. Sucks.

As the crowds intensified in the streets, any space for critters roaming about the urban landscape was gone now. “It juuuuuuuust gets worse every year,” Cyrus grimmaced with an expression of exhaustion, “This is going to be my third Festival, and I’m still getting used to it. I mean don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with big cities...” Almost as if on cue... a sound erupted from a couple tents over, but this one was different than all the other noise. Someone was clearly screaming out curses inbetween the fireworks, and it was not going to be ignored. Infact more voices started up, and joined together.
“YOU DAMNED DEVIL!” “What the- YOU ARE MAKING THINGS WORSE!?” “OW! It... This THING just BIT ME!” “ALMOST GOT EM!”
“Uh...” Russ stuttered, “I’m gonna go take a look at that..” Hammer had eaten most of his greens by now, and was withdrawn back into his ball. It’d be easier to move through the crowd that way, and investigate what was bothering people. Cyrus decided to keep his bird handy, just in case, but any kind of fighting with this many people around would only end badly. Even someone as aggressive as him could understand a basic fact like that. “You wanna come? I’m sure most of these vendors don’t want to leave their wares, and it’s probably something wild giving them hell,” Ramos huffed, “Leave it up to the masses, and everyone of em’ would just cut, n’ run.” It was a little bit cynical to think that way, but the truth... at least through Cyrus’ eyes. He had other motives of checking things out though, the night was young, and everything was an opportunity to scout the tempers of the local stall owners. You could see who was careful, or careless. With a smile, the pepper haired man waved his young acquaintance to follow if he chose to. “C’mon man, it shouldn’t take too long,” He added, and then made eye contact with Victor. The Murkrow looked at it’s owner curiously for only a moment, before hopping out of the tent gracefully.. and only taking flight once he had the room outside.
From above the crowds, Victor could see what all the commotion was about, and it wasn’t a huge deal. Well, besides the cotton candy man swinging a baseball bat around. It took a couple minutes of working through all the people, but eventually Cyrus found the source of the noise. His Murkrow landed carefully on the older man’s shoulder, and leaned over menancingly. “What the hell is going on here? What’s with the bat man, c’mon?” He asked with a frown, before spotting a chunky little Pokemon running around. It had a combonation of pink, and blue sugary candy smeared all across it’s face.. not to mention a couple tears in it’s eyes. Cyrus recognized the tiny beast as a Munchlax, but it wasn’t wild, there was clearly a red collar around his neck. “You’re over here trying to beat on somebody’s Pokemon?” He questoned before turning to the other people who were standing back. There was a small child, and her mom who were just trying to buy some cotton candy.. and they looked pretty damn scared. Meanwhile, the Munchlax was struggling to hide it’s tubby body underneath the man’s cart.
“This one here,” The merchant spat out, “He comes out of nowhere, and starts eating out of my cart... and then bites a little girl! It’s bad for business!”
“He... it stole from me, and got me.. right in the hand!!” Screeched the daughter through her tears, and was comforted by her parents.
A part of him wanted to snatch this little one up, but he knew better. It wasn’t worth it, but this chunky guy was only following his nature. That’s why he ended up by all the food, just like Cyrus he must’ve been called by the smells. “Well, I’ll tell you right now. You’re not gonna get him out of here like that. He wants to eat,” Cyrus said with confidence, “What do you think?” If the kid was still around, he wanted to know what he thought about it all. I mean, Cyrus wasn’t about to hold anybody hostage, but who knows. This kid might have a different idea of how to deal with this.

rise to be the change you wish to see Aleks nodded his head, internally dreading the growth of the population and the attendees to events such as this. "I see. A growing population can just be troublesome at times." He let out a sigh, looking up to the man from the table. His eyebrows shot up, his ears seemingly tensing and perking as the shout resounded through the area. He was already on his feet though and looking towards the noise.
"Yea. I'll come with." He nodded, making his way through the crowd with the older man, eyes looking for the source of trouble, immediately locking his eyes on the man with the baseball bat. "Sir, put the bat away." Aleks spoke firmly to the man, holding his hand out. Even off duty, he couldn't catch a break, but he wasn't about to sit here and let this Pokemon be terrorized like that, especially when it was obviously owned by someone.
"It's just a Munchlax." Aleks spoke to no one in particular. "A baby pokemon. By the looks of it, lost as well." Without second thought, he grabbed a Pokeball and let his Eevee out. The little fluff ball shook her man gracefully, a Ranger's scarf hung around her neck as well, identifying her as just that, a Ranger's Pokemon. "Hmm. I can try to have Abigale reason with him, she's always had a way with baby Pokemon. Try to calm him down first. You think you can get the man here to put the bat away? It's just stressing the pokemon out and the parents are handling the child. Hopefully they can calm her down some more. I can't imagine what all this extra noise is doing to the poor guy." He shrugged, looking to Abigale and squat beside her, speaking in his native tongue. "Abigale. Calm this little one down for me the best you can, would you?"
He probably couldn't get near the Pokemon anyways in it's state of stress, and more than likely, it had been struck by the bat. So while Abigale stepped towards the Munchlax, Aleks pulled out his phone and sent a text to the chat that his whole family was in, telling them to notify the Rangers of a lost Munchlax. Red collar and that he and someone else are trying to console and get it to trust them right now.
