Thunder crashed nearby. Or maybe it wasn’t thunder - maybe it was a hunk of ore or jagged piece of earth crashing down from the floating islands above. Asher couldn’t decide which was deadlier - lightning or debris. He knew one thing for sure, though - Hummer loved being outside in this thunderstorm. The tiny water Pokemon skittered ecstatically from puddle to puddle, bullying other Pokemon out of its precious pools. Asher smiled in spite of himself. Hummer was aggressive and domineering, but he was a real goofball sometimes. He’d learn to share and collaborate as he grew as a Pokemon.
A thunderous crash shook Asher out of his reverie regarding his Clauncher partner. A chunk of earth the size of a Wailord had embedded itself a few meters ahead of Hummer, who was doing his best to seem brave despite his clattering claw and shaking legs. Asher dashed forward and scooped his partner up, examining the debris. It had a curious luster to it, and Asher could swear the puddles around it looked different.

Claiming Grassium-Z Sure enough, something was different about the way the puddles around Asher sparkled. These stones weren’t any ordinary gravel. Some were really beautiful gems, some looked like valuable veins of ore embedded in larger rocks. Nothing that Asher could carry back with him without dangerously slowing his progress. Hummer had alighted in one puddle, though, that glinted with a unique green light. Asher got a little closer, wincing as more thunder rumbled in the distance (or perhaps it was falling rocks). Asher vaguely recognized that perfect diamond shape from some scientific journals from Alola, but he couldn’t quite recall why it would be important. Still, it was unique and small enough to fit in his bag, so Asher snatched it up. Hummer’s bravado had started to falter a little bit in the face of the impending storm and the real danger of falling rocks. However, Asher was feeling empowered by their small success. If they took a slightly roundabout way, they could pass by some larger chunks of debris on their way back to the city center…. Asher indicated the path he was considering to Hummer. The Clauncher looked surprised for a moment, but then clicked his claw approvingly and skittered forwards, eyes peeled for any new shiny treasures. |

Claiming Sun Stone Asher felt like regular ol’ prospector, panning for valuable gems in the rushing rivers of a mountain - except the rushing rivers were a torrential downpour and the mountains were literally falling from the sky. Still, the jittery excitement of darting from cover to cover, scanning the sky for any impending lightning strikes or falling debris, had Asher and Hummer in a good rhythm. Hummer would strike out ahead, carefully searching each puddle or stream for anything interesting. Asher would cover him from behind, calling out falling rocks or hustling forward to scoop the Clauncher up. As they circled the large piece of rock embedded in the earth, Hummer chirped with excitement and skittered forwards. A warm, orange glow emanated from just under a large stone, completely submerged in a puddle. Hummer struggled to push the stone aside, to no avail. Asher almost hesitated to get his shoes wet, then remembered that he was soaked to the bone anyways and jumped in to help his Pokemon. Together, they pushed the heavy, flat stone over to reveal a glowing Sun Stone. “Wow! What a find, Hummer! This will for sure come in handy someday.” |

Claiming Lucarionite Asher and Hummer made their way past the giant chunk of earth into a small crater. It had probably once been the site of a massive mountain that now floated above them, and the walls were slick with mud. Hummer slid through the mud swiftly, chittering happily as Asher groaned in disgust. The absolute worst part of any outdoor endurance exercise was mud in his clothes - so gritty, uncomfortable, and wet. Still, the site of the city limits so nearby renewed his energy, and he joined up with his Clauncher in the middle of the crater. Hummer was fixated on a small, faintly glowing object. Asher knelt down to examine it - it was a perfect sphere, the inside alight with a beautiful red and blue pattern. The coloration was strangely familiar, and surely unique. Asher clutched it in his palm and felt the echo of some distant power as he put the stone in his bag. Hummer was already over the lip of the crater as Asher straightened up and began to slog back through the mud. Surely there would be one or two more places to scavenge in before they made it back to the city. |
