Appearance
Akari is slightly shorter than normal, but very muscular. She generally wears a workout top with short sleeves (not pictured) and leggings with tennis shoes - this is her training and combat outfit. She likes letting her hair blow freely as she travels, but will always tie it back for a Pokemon battle. Her deep blue eyes are heavily lidded, and she sometimes seems almost sleepy except for the competitive fire always burning in her gaze.
Akari wears a small blue crystal pendant around her neck. Her voice is high, piercing, and loud - perfect for commanding Pokemon and attention. She moves with the lithe grace of an endurance athlete.

Personality
Born to be a Winner - Hailing from Blackthorn City only sharpened Akari's innate competitive edge. From the time she was born, she always had to be number one - and she always has been. Though she may come across as nothing more than a cheerleader, Akari is willing to put serious work in to be the very best.
Her Pokemon's Biggest Fan - No Trainer is more supportive of their Pokemon than Akari, especially in the heat of battle. Her feverish encouragement and constant strategizing keep her Pokemon energized and ready to attack every battle with a fresh perspective. Equally dedicated on and off the battlefield, Akari works tirelessly as her Pokemon's caretaker and friend.
Energetic and Kind - A real sweetheart, Akari will often go out of her way to brighten someone's day. Though some may find her madcap energy to be overwhelming, she knows just when to dial it down so as not to get yelled at. Nothing makes her sulk like someone telling her to quiet down or butt out.
Calculating - Always looking to get a lead before the battle starts, Akari can seem quite robotic in the ways that she analyzes situations for her own benefit. Some battles are worth walking away from if the odds are heavily against her. So are some people.
Tantrum-Prone - Unfortunately, the problem with being the best all the time is...well, sometimes you just aren't the best every time. Akari never learned this fact well, and will still break down in an outpouring of emotion whenever she's been heavily invested in a battle or a situation that doesn't go her way. Give her a minute...or an hour.
Obsessive - Failure is not an option. Repeated failure is completely unthinkable. If she loses a battle, Akari will go to any length to get the upper hand in the next meeting. She'll plot countermeasures, catch new Pokemon, teach her current Pokemon new moves, even spy on her opponent just to avoid tasting defeat more than once in a row. She holds a mean grudge, too.

History
Akari was born in Blackthorn City to a pair of Ace Trainers. Both her mother and father had challenged the Pokemon League before she was born, her mother in Kalos and her father in Johto. From the time she could walk, Akari was learning how to command and befriend Pokemon. Her parents kept several Pokemon of different evolutionary stages and types around so that she could become comfortable with training all kinds of Pokemon. She never forgot how proud her parents were as she went off to her first day at the Trainer School.
Akari was talented and she knew it. Top of her class on sheer battling skills, Akari never even bothered with homework or practice. Her parents tried to drill good study and work habits into her, but nothing ever penetrated her belief in herself (read: arrogance). However, just because she was top of the class didn't mean she wasn't personable. A kind-hearted and smiling girl most of the time, Akari continued through her formative years without ever really thinking about what she would spend her time doing: it would be Pokemon battling, of course!
As a teenager in Johto, Akari traveled with her parents to challenge Gyms and begin collecting Pokemon. She quickly proved to be a force to be reckoned with for Gym Leaders and other Trainers alike. After clearing the Gym Challenges of Johto and Kanto, Akari took a hiatus from competitive Training to apprentice with a Move Tutor in the hills of Kanto for several years.
Her tutor was harsh, not letting her keep any Pokemon from her teams for herself throughout her training. Instead, she learned to commune with the wild Pokemon around her. Once she had mastered communicating with Pokemon, the Tutor began teaching her about the processes through which moves could be learned, and further how you could teach some special moves to Pokemon who would not otherwise be able to learn them.... After becoming versed in the basics, Akari began helping her master tutor paying customers' Pokemon. She was satisfied with the work, but longed to venture back into another region and challenge their Gyms.
Her master eventually became satisfied that Akari would not embarrass his name should she go out into the world and become a Move Tutor. With his blessing, she took up from Kanto and began maneuvering her way through the other major regions of the world. Along the way, she met many Pokemon and fought some furious battles. Confident that she had conquered many of the world's toughest challenges, Akari turned her sights to Veria, where a unique and challenging set of Gyms lay in wait.
