Kyren Riscal

Kyren appears to have stepped out from some old western tale. From the dirt-stained leather cowboy boots up to the brown leather cowboy-style hat that shows age by the extra creases in it. Generally wearing a set of jeans and some plain looking shirt of one variety or another.
Kyren stands at about 5’10’’ with a lanky frame. His hair is a coal grey shade, often identified as black. His hair falls to the base of the neck and flow over the forehead with scruffy bangs. His skin is well-tanned due to long hours in the sun. Kyren’s hands are well calloused from work.

Perhaps the best descriptive word for Kyren is laid back. He’s the guy that just takes things in stride bot the high’s and the low’s. Kyren would label himself lazy and it is true that he prefers to do things at his own pace. While he might take time to just lay under a tree and enjoy the weather more often than not he would find a way to be productive even while lying around. Perhaps braiding a bit of rope, or telling pokemon how they should train while he watches.

Kyren wouldn’t be shy of starting a fight with reason but as fights can take more effort than he often wants to put into it most the time he’d rather talk his way out of things. If something comes up that he feels worth fighting for he’s often happy to go all in. A black eye or broken bone won’t be the end of the world, though they do create irritating situations and quite frankly, hurt.

Kyren has morals, but they are of his own making. Society doesn’t dictate the way he see’s the world or the morals that it should go by. As an example of his law’s of thought it would be wrong in his mind to steal and yet if you can con someone into giving you what they want then its all fair. If you have a relationship with someone whether it be friend, traveling companion, even a friendly rival then you should stick up for them if they are in need. Kid being bullied or starving deserves a helping hand. However it’s ok to lie, deceive, spy on other conversations and walk onto private property. Hey, no one’s perfect.

A last note - he dislikes bug pokemon.  They are pests who seem to enjoy getting into barns when unwanted

Kyren grew up on a small blip of an island that his family had lived on for more generations than he could keep up with on that family history chart. They weren’t the only family there but the numbers were small. Those who lived there created a reason to encompass the existence of the island and lay claim to all of it.

The island is made up of those who either breed, train, study, or market different sort of ranch pokemon. Kyren’s direct family works on raising the ponyta and tauros for different competitions such as racing, jumping, and tauros-riding. The house to the east of them focuses on attempts to breed a different conformational make-up to the ponyta and blitzle lines. Literally trying to make some hybrid version. While there is no success yet it is true that their bloodlines in conformation are impressive.

To the north side of their land is another neighbor who runs a tourist-ranch where rich people can come and enjoy a variety of games in the ranch-like setting. There is even a rocky area people can try to mine and a huge sandbox for kid’s to dog up trinkets in.

In this landscape Kyren spent all his early-child to late-teen years. He could ride a ponyta almost the same time he could walk. He learned all about waking up early, working hard, and sleeping deep. However as he got older and roamed farther on his free time he spent some of that time watching the tourists that came to visit their island. Some of them had new accents, some dressed in attire no one on the island ever bothered with. They brought along some pokemon that seemed quite strange to him and some that were common to him were apparently accepted as more exotic elsewhere.

When Kyren reached 16 he chose to take up a job at the tourist ranch instead of his families land. He enjoyed teaching people how to ride ponyta and listen to them talk of what they did off the island. It was funny to see how they were so entranced with what to him was normal way of things. Several people that made their way to his island had been to numerous other places, taken many cruises and painted a wide and amazing world that Kyren wanted to see.

At the age of twenty he decided to leave the island. It was one of those rare points he felt a welling excitement bubbling in him as it would be an entire change of lifestyle. He was already set to take his rapidash and growlithe with him on his travels. A friend loftily informed him he shouldn’t travel with only one sort of pokemon type but then laughing had given him a present; one of their blitzle’s. His parent’s gifted him with a young tauros, that was a bit smaller than the rest.

It was from another relative he was given pokeballs. Kyren would rarely bother putting growlithe in a ball but unfortunately the other pokemon were a bit large to always have wandering with him in many areas. It was a great boat ride with meeting new people. For the first few months of his new life exploring new land’s he was a lot more bubbly than normal but eventually it faded to his more normal laid back state. Kyren made his way from place to place offering his services as a handy-man most the time. Having lived on a ranch gave him experience in fixing a variety of simple things like fences, furniture, sinks, and other sorts of things. Manual labor was also a thing he could offer up, and as often was ready to work for a bit of food or place to lay his head versus cash.

Kyren worked with his pokemon at points during his journey’s on learning how to fight but not very seriously. It was a thing to do when inspired but wasn’t needed for any grand goal. However there comes a point when one finds a need to have some goal in life. So it was that a few months before turning 24 he decided to take up the role of an actual trainer.

Dex – Major
Between learning good balance when riding, climbing tree’s or avoiding the hooves of an angry tauros Kyren got plenty of lessons in learning how to be flexible. Topping that there’s also the use of a lasso a past time competitor of darts that help that hand – eye coordination.

Endurance – Minor
There is no such thing as growing up riding and never taking a fall. Between long work days on a ranch and later days spent traveling new terrain to gain more endurance. Drinking too much or even a bit of foolish pride has lead to more than one fight in a stable, especially in those teenage years.

Kyren’s primary and most base skills go to what he learned on the ranch.

He’s great at riding and roping.

Basic repairs of simple things such as wood crafts are right up his ally. Whether its with a hammer or duct tape he’ll try to put it together.

He can hold his own in a brawl. Not to say he’s amazing at it but he’s won as many as he’s lost.

He’s a decent liar and has a cool head on his shoulders

If you like it simple he can cook. Beans anyone?

He know’s how to line dance and square dance (that’s about it on dancing though)

Able to read numerous pokemon tracks.

Fidget the poliwag was once more in the water. Whether he was playing or helping in the search for more pokemon was a question no one but another water pokemon would likely know the answer too. Naiche imagined it was a nothing but a dream to expect he would be up soon to to report a great pokemon find.

"No Bud," Naiche sighed and glanced at the turtwig, "the shell is nice, but its not exactly a pokemon, which is what we are looking for." Apparently Bud liked looking for buried treasures. It was true he did drop the shell, but he also went right back to digging. Great. Naiche walked the beach, a lazy slouch with shoulders forward, back leaning a bit forward as he lazily walked along.

"Tep-tepig!" Rang out in excitement and a second later, "Sni! sni sni sni, snivly sni!" an even more excited Vex hollered out. Naiche made his way quickly over and whistled in appreciation, "Now we're talking!" At least some of his pokemon were helping. Why was it that the pokemon he got along with least were the ones that were working the hardest?

The vulpix was in a stare down with Rufus, but by the way his body's weight was shifting Naiche guessed it wouldn't be long before it fled.
