“Come on Jazz, let’s give Luke a breather,” Orion mused as he pulled Jazz along slightly behind him. “We can catch up in a bit, but we should catch some Pokemon while they’re swarming up here~ right? Right.” His smile never wavered, his heart oh so straightforward, clearly. Heh, yeah. Sure.
Looking over his shoulder briefly, Orion smirked watching Luke watch them and slowly deflate of his own accord. Knew it… All three of them had been at the Summer Celebration fairgrounds all day, but whereas Orion and Jazz had yet to really settle down, Luke was very much tired. He wanted a break but hadn’t said it outright. Orion just knew couldn’t quite blame him (and really didn’t want to smother him too much just… in case, you know). So, Orion took this opportunity to get Jazz out to do some catching.
Once they were far enough away, Orion let go looking back to Jazz with a silly grin. “By the way~ Ready to do some training while we’re at it?” he asked, brow quirked.

The Summer Celebration was a blast and Jazz was still so excited and energetic, even after exploring the fairgrounds all day. They had seen most, if not all of the booths, been on quite a few of the rides, and well...gotten lost in the maze quite a few times. It was still a lot of fun though and Jazz didn't want it to end. Well, that was until Orion started pulling her away from Luke. A whine escaped her as she dug in her feet, trying to protest until he reminded her about the swarming Pokemon. Eh? "But what about-....?"Jazz started to protest, only to be dragged away from Luke before she could ask the entire question. Jazz wouldn't get the chance to see just how tired Luke had been. But...well, maybe catching some Pokemon would be fun. It would have been more fun with Luke but.... sigh oh well. Maybe some other time. Falling into step beside Orion rather than make him drag her the rest of the way, Jazz had been about to complain when his question stopped her short. A wide grin appeared on her features as she laughed, shaking her head slightly, "Yer a mind reader, 'rion. Ah wuz jis thinkin' Ah needta train sum. Need ta kick yer boyfriend's ass afta all~,"Jazz mused, smirking at Orion after that. " 'sides, Ah've been thinkin' about challengin' sum gyms. Might as well make teh first be Nik's. Gotta make ser 'e dun hurt ya 'r nuthin,"Jazz explained briefly, "Watcha wanna do first?"she asked, setting her hands behind her head as she started walking again. If there were Pokemon here, there was no sense in just sitting around and waiting for them to come to them.

Orion was glad not to have to drag Jazz the entire way out to the fields beyond Aleal, but Arceus damn the first thing out of her mouth warmed his features a bit. “He’s not my boyfriend,” he sighed shaking his head a bit dismissively. This would change in the coming weeks/months, but of course he had no way of knowing then and foreshadowing is funny. “I wish, of course but,” he snorted softly, dryly shaking his head again. As things were now, he was fine, though.
The mention of challenging gyms, however, did have Orion’s eyebrow quirking a bit. “It is quite fun, I’ll admit,” he answered with a small, amused note. Battling no fighting Mia had been a lot of fun. A lot of lot of fun. “Even not taking home the badge.” Or the hundred mun that supposedly went with it. Man, now that would have been nice, but oh well? Work paid well enough right then.
Looking out along the path, Orion made a head gesture in the direction he wanted to go and started on down it. Hopefully they’d see some Pokemon soon.

When she saw the blush on Orion's features, Jazz couldn't help but snicker. Right. Like she would believe that. Every time Orion came back from Nik's or Nik left visiting, he acted like some lovesick school boy. It was amusing in its own right but even if the title wasn't official, it didn't change how Jazz saw their relationship. "Riiiiiight,"Jazz replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm before laughing again. The comment about gyms being fun had her grinning again. Since when had Orion challenged a gym? Oh well, it did sound like a lot of fun, as long as she could actually train her Pokemon to be able to stand a chance against a gym leader. Heh, maybe Mia's gym would be the next on her list but for now, Nik was gonna be her goal. "Yeah? What gym did you challenge? What was it like?"Jazz asked, leaning in a bit, excited to hear the rest of this story. As they walked down the path, Jazz didn't really see anything that caught her eye. Well, that was until Galant decided to come out of his own accord and opted to challenge a...Deerling? Really? "OI! Galant! Git back 'ere!"Jazz called out, only to face/palm when the Honedge didn't even acknowledge she had said anything. This was a noble steed worthy of his attention after all! That stupid Galant. Ugh, whatever. Fine. He could challenge the Deerling if he wanted. "Fine! Jis hurry up,"Jazz called back which.... still didn't earn any acknowledgement from the Honedge but he did at least start showing off with a Swords Dance. Good. The Deerling wouldn't be able to stand up against Galant like that. The next thing the Honedge did was rise up into the air while the Deerling tried a Double Kick except it...didn't work? Nevermind that Galant was now floating up much higher than it could jump, that was still a good move! Galant wasn't going to leave things to chance however and moved to strike the Deerling down with Sacred Sword. The poor Deerling didn't have time to react before he collapsed, unable to continue battling. "Great! Lessgo, Galant!"Jazz called out, only to face/palm when the Honedge stubbornly remained by the Deerling's side. Grumbling under her breath, Jazz tried to return the Honedge... several times but each time the damn Pokemon kept evading the beam. Ugh stupid, stubborn, pain in the neck.... Rather than try and fight Galant and his stupid quirks, Jazz tossed a pokeball at the fainted Deerling. "THERE! Now git o'er here, NOW!"Jazz hissed, relieved that the stupid Honedge at least listened that time. Honestly, the gang wasn't kidding when they said Galant was 'defective'. What the heck was with him and chivalry? Jazz still didn't understand why it was necessary to bring the Deerling along with them but apparently Galant wasn't leaving without them. Whatever. "Dontcha say a word,"Jazz all but hissed at Orion, not in the mood to talk about Galant's behavior right then. That dumb Honedge had a mind of its own, and Jazz never knew what to make of them. But a Deerling? SERIOUSLY?!

“Mia’s,” Orion smirked sticking his tongue out briefly. “Her gimmick is she makes you fight her while your Pokemon fight hers~ It’s a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing.” Which, of course Orion of all people did. It seemed, however, a battle was coming to them— or at least to Jazz, anyways, as Galant went out of his way to battle a Deerling. Orion snickered watching the battle.
It was indeed a short battle won over by the power of Ghosts against Normal Types, but as Jazz was made to cacth the Deerling not of her own accord, Orion was laughing harder. Man man what was up with her Pokemon? Still, a finger raised to his lips as he silently promised not to say anything… yet. He would make a comment later, though. That was for sure. Just as he was about to continue on, however, Orion caught sight of something rolling down the bluff way. A spherical Spheal was on the move somewhere, but for a moment, Orion’s eyes turned to hearts.
Water Doggo. Bingo. Fishing out a Pokeball, he’d release a Mareep out in front of himself. “Marie, focus on that Spheal,” Orion ordered. The Mareep straightened some and nodded. Ok, she could do that! “Start with Confuse Ray,” he ordered. The Mareep blinked a little but summoned up the lights and shot them towards the Spheal. The Spheal, meanwhile, was suddenly very confused?! He’d been rolling on his way, but now the world was all rolling! What had happened?! Twisting his vision around, he’d see a tall green haired man and his Pokemon. Oh! He hadn’t even realized he’d been invited to a battle! Summoning up a cloud of Hail despite his confusion, he’d cause it to come raining down.
“Shit,” escaped from Orion as he swatted some hail coming down above them. The Mareep was hit and whined at some minor damage but was otherwise ok for now. “Marie, change of plans, use Discharge,” Orion ordered. Summoning up some power, the Mareep released the move shocking the Spheal debilitating. Rolling back and struggling to get back up, the Spheal found himself paralyzed. More hail came down, however, and the fluffy sheep whined softly again. “Keep going, you’re doing fine,” Orion said flatly. She supposed that was supposed to be encouragement, wasn’t it?
Confused and paralyzed, the Spheal struggled around for a moment before hurting himself in confusion. Nearly at the end of his rope, he cried and whined more than anything. Seeing the end of the battle in sight, Orion snorted softly. “Discharge again,” he ordered. The Mareep squeaked on being hit with more hail but managed to focus enough to release a Discharge once again on the Spheal. The rolly polley Pokemon rolled back fainted, and the hail cleared up almost instantly after. Orion dusted some ice off his jacket and wished vaguely he’d worn a warmer coat. Fishing out a Pokeball, however, he tossed it at the Spheal. There, that was one more for the pack.

In the heat of the battles, numerous Pokemon would take notice. Some turned and fled while others seemed to show interest. Looking out from behind a tree, an Avalugg happened to be the latter. Watching the humans take down their opponents, he huffed. Those were small Pokemon! Weak Pokemon! How dare the humans pick on them! He was large and strong! He’d take care of them! Letting out a battle roar, he’d start charging towards the larger of the two humans.
Just as the Pokeball clicked in capture, Orion found his attention grabbed. What the hell was— What was that? A big block of ice was running at them. Pft, at least it was easy to tell its type right off hand. Fishing out a Pokeball, he’d release a Ponyta. “Flame Charge," he ordered hoping the speed collision would keep the Ice creature at bay. The Ponyta neighed loudly before running forward, slamming right into the Avalugg and bursting into flames before running beyond it. The Avalugg did stop and hissed at the heat but was far from finished. Ushering out a menacing Blizzard upon the area, he caused the greener plants that had stretched up from the summer to coat again with snow.
The Ponyta was just fast enough to dodge the brunt of the blizzard, but Orion certainly shivered from it. The entire area was now slick and slippery with ice which did nothing for the hooves of the Ponyta. Ugh, annoying. “Be careful,” was Orion’s only order. “Flame Charge again.” The Ponyta nickered and quickly burst into flames and knocked into the Avalugg once again. The Avalugg was starting to become irritated and used a Sharpen in hopes of showing that Ponyta what consequences there were for getting in close.
Orion, however, saw and was ready for it. “Stay out of range and use Flamethrower,” he called. The Ponyta hopped back some more and took in a breath before spewing flames. The Avalugg released a Blizzard in response. Despite the opposite typing, the Blizzard was just strong enough to stave off the Flamethrower. Orion frowned. The Ponyta stomped his foot irritated. Hm. “Bounce up and over it and use Flamethrower at its back,” Orion ordered. The Ponyta sprung upward with his strong legs and flung himself over the Avalugg. Taking in a breath, he released a flamethrower yet again.
The Avalugg was not fast enough to twist around and use a Blizzard this time and took the full brunt of the damage. A hiss escaped from him as he sunk down on the ground some. He… he wasn’t done yet! N-no! Just as the Ponyta came down from the Bounce, the Avalugg Body Slammed right into him. Hardly as sturdy and structured as the Avalugg, the Ponyta went crashing sideways slamming into a normally frosted tree.
Orion fidgeted and looked back at the Avalugg who seemed sturdy at least in sight. It is strong… Orion would give it that. He’d been about to fish out his Pokeball and return the Ponyta when the fire horse forced himself up of his own accord. Orion frowned but gave a nod. “Keep out of its way, Flamethrower,” Orion ordered. The Ponyta took in yet another breath and did just that. Fires spewed forth, and even as the Avalugg started to use a Blizzard, it was not fast enough this time and took the full brunt of the move. As it fainted, the Avalugg cried out in frustration. Orion smirked and tossed the appropriate Pokeball at it. One more Ice Dog.
Ponyta 3 pts.

As soon as Orion mentioned what gym he had battled, Jazz face-palmed. Right. He'd mentioned it before. Where had her memory gone? Probably held hostage by Galant at this point. Ugh, stupid Honedge. "...how did I fergit that?"Jazz complained, shaking her head at her own forgetfulness. The aftermath of the battle and being effectively forced to capture the Deerling however had Jazz squinting at Orion as he laughed. It wasn't her fault that the stupid Honedge was clearly disfunctional. Heck, it was sometimes all she could do to get Galant to listen to her at all. As Orion started to battle the Spheal, Jazz was trying to get the aforementioned Honedge to finally listen to her. Instead of just staying put like a sane Pokemon would have, he decided that it would be best to survey the area in case there were others worthy of his attention. "Oi! C'mon Galant, we need to get outta here!" Jazz called over to the Honedge, only to sigh exasperatedly when he still didn't acknowledge her. There were days Jazz could have done without the lousy Honedge but well...he reminded her too much of Dad to ever part with the stubborn thing. And then the Avalugg appeared and Jazz found herself swearing as the Blizzard covered the area. Her hoodie helped somewhat but damn did that hurt. That was when Jazz saw Galant going towards the Avalugg and- "Arceus dammit, Galant! No!"Jazz yelled, running through snow to tackle the Honedge to the ground just as he was beginning to unsheath himself. Fuck, that was too close, but dammit she wasn't about to let her Pokemon get mixed up in a battle against that beast. Not when Orion seemed to have it under control. Galant was clearly displeased at being pinned down but at least wasn't resisting and wouldn't move until his ridiculous trainer loosened her grip on him. Of course that wasn't until after the blizzard had finally faded away and Jazz didn't have her face in the snow anymore. As soon as Galant was free he immediately started heading away from Jazz while she picked herself up and brushed the snow off. Ugh now she was cold. Why couldn't Galant just behave and stay out of battles that weren't his. Stupid good for nothing Honedge. Muttering curses relating to the Honedge under her breath, Jazz wasn't paying attention to the Sneasel that was sneaking up on her. The next thing Jazz knew, Galant had unsheathed himself and was now directing a Sacred Sword right at her. A yelp escaped Jazz as she dove out of the way of the attack that could have very well killed her and ended up with yet another face full of snow. Why... why....WHY did she have to have such a USELESS Pokemon. Instead of hearing the crunch of snow however as the move missed, Jazz heard another Pokemon cry out and fall into the snow. Daring to look up again, Jazz blinked when she saw a now fainted Sneasel in the snow. Had Galant just-.... "Galant? Did you-?"Jazz began, only to rub the back of her head sheepishly, at a loss for words for the time being, "Thanks man, really,"she continued briefly before looking back over at Orion. Galant nodded at her, and for a moment it...almost looked like he had smiled? Well, it was nice at any rate. Maybe she was actually getting somewhere with the Honedge after all. A pokeball would be tossed at the Sneasel as an after thought. For all she knew, Galant would throw a fit if she left it and Jazz wasn't going to go through that again. "C'mon, let's get outta here,"Jazz murmured, brushing more snow off of her jacket... again, " 's cold 'n I cud do without moar ice types sneaking up on us,"she continued, rubbing her arms to try and restore a little bit of warmth in the Arceus forsaken snow covered field.

As he finished up his own battle, Orion let his attention flicker back to Jazz. Watching her capture the Sneasel, Orion couldn’t help but smirk a little as Jazz complained. “At least it’s not winter up here?” he asked with a small shrug of shoulders. It could be so, so, so much worse, honestly. Hell, even Eran North seemed cooler than this but… heh he understood just general hate of the cold too. Turning off in a general direction, he gave a small head gesture and continued walking.
The Ponyta, meanwhile, looked from Jazz to Orion and then back to Jazz. Rather quickly he trotted over to the latter and pressed up against her hoping to warm her a bit in the process. The flames of his mane were calm, tempered, not meant to burn or singe just… heat. If she’d let him, he’d continue to walk alongside her to keep her warm enough. Thankfully it seemed once they got away from the battle area, things became a bit greener again.
Hmmmm weren’t there supposed to be Fire type Pokemon out here? Orion’s eyes flicked one way and the other as he continued to walk a little ahead of Jazz. He sure as hell didn’t mind the Ice doggos, but it was summer, and that wasn’t quite what he was expecting to see. Stretching both arms up, he exhaled loudly on bringing them back down again. Meanwhile, further off, Orion’s noise would cause a small head to pop up from behind a rock. The Vulpix stared at the man tilting her head one way and then the other as she watched him. She wasn’t in the mood for battle – but she was curious enough to see what was up. Slowly coming around her rock, she snuck over to the man- closer, closer, POUNCE- HUH?
Just as the Vulpix had pounced, Orion had turned around. Face crashed with face, and Orion stumbled slightly before wrapping both arms around the- ah. Hm, this was what was making that sound then? The Vulpix, meanwhile, was squirming and writhing on having been ‘caught’. Whining, she finally broke free and bounded away. Orion laughed dryly and shook his head slowly. He already had one but… it was stil rather cute.

At the response, Jazz stuck her tongue out at Orion. Right, it would probably be much worse if it was actually winter but well, it was still fucking cold. That was one of the good things about not being in Era anymore at the very least. The winters had always been the worst and Jazz had always hated the cold. When the Ponyta walked over to her, she was more than grateful for the warmth. An audible sigh escaped her as the warmth washed over her. Smiling at the Ponyta, Jazz hugged him, draping an arm around his neck while they walked. That was better, at least until they got to a greener, warmer area. Galant meanwhile, stayed close behind his trainer, guarding her from anymore unseen attacks. It was a little obnoxious certainly, but after the last time Jazz was glad he was there to watch her back. They didn't get very long before the Honedge suddenly darted off again, leaving Jazz behind. Well, so much for having him guard...what was it with the stupid Honedge and running away all the time? Cursing under her breath, Jazz raced after the crazy Honedge and tried to tackle him to the ground only to be suddenly blinded by light. Shielding her eyes, Jazz could only wait until it faded, revealing a Doublade. While Jazz was glad that Galant had evolved, it also meant that he would be harder to stop now. "Of all the times..."Jazz swore under her breath and after weighing the options, decided to tackle Galant anyway. Owwww, ok, bad idea. Very, very bad idea but at least the infernal Doublade had stopped now. So much for turning over a new leaf, now what had made him fly off like that? Looking around, Jazz couldn't really see much, well, aside from a smol fairy thing cowering behind a flower lei. Between that and the Vulpix that had just pounced on Orion, there wasn't anything else around? What the heck was going on? Sigh, why was she stuck with a paranoid Doublade of all things. Ugh. It took a bit longer for Jazz to dig out the pokeball and return the Doublade but once that was done, she flopped out on the grass, exhaling in relief. The next thing she knew there was a lei in her face? OK? It seemed the Comfey liked Jazz and wanted to thank her for the rescue. Well, it was pretty cute after all. "Thankya, yer purty sweet~,"Jazz replied, chuckling as the Comfey seemed to sing something before racing off to gift Orion and the Ponyta with a lei too. The little fairy was just adorable and well, maybe it wouldn't be considered too girly to bring her with them. "C'mon out, Knight,"Jazz said after a moment, pulling out another pokeball to reveal a rather small Pawniard raring for battle, "Hey, slow down there, champ. Yer gonna ask that Comfey if she wants to battle first, no sneak attacks this time,"she cautioned, smirking a bit when the Pawniard glowered at her. He was just about to go over and ask the Comfey to battle when said Comfey saw the newcomer and hurried over to give him a lei. The look on Knight's face was priceless as he looked at the thing as if it had bitten him and Jazz couldn't help but laugh. At first, the Comfey was confused but opted to laugh along with Jazz while Knight glowered at his trainer. Once Jazz managed to get control of herself again, she waved a hand in apology which seemed to be enough for Knight who got in a battle ready stance to challenge the Comfey. The Comfey looked confused and distressed, why would her new friend want to fight her! "Hey, 's ok... that's jis Knight's way of saying 'e likes ya, ain't that right?"Jazz explained softly, nudging the Pawniard to make sure he followed her lead. Luckily for her, Knight realized that this was the only way of getting his battle and nodded quickly which cheered up the Comfey right away. Well, why didn't they just say so! Satisfied with this explanation, the Comfey twirled and nodded her assent to battle. "Alright, start off with Torment, then Metal Claw,"Jazz ordered once she had gotten a safe distance away. The Comfey certainly looked harmless enough, but Jazz certainly didn't want to be caught in the middle when Knight started to get serious. Knight didn't waste time before using Torment, eliciting a distressed sound from the Comfey but they seemed to take it in stride, at least until the Pawniard came charging at them with Metal Claw. They had been so caught up in the prior move that they didn't move away in time and was caught up in the attack. Ouch! That had hurt! But Knight had looked so cool doing it that the Comfey thought she should give him a Draining Kiss. Knight saw the Comfey move forward but she was just too fast for him to dodge. He could feel his energy drain away and immediately jumped back, rubbing the spot where he'd been kissed as if that could stop the effects of it. "Shake it off, keep using Metal Claw!"Jazz called out. Well, at least the Torment would work in her favor this time. That kiss couldn't be used next turn, that would buy her some time to do more damage. Shaking his head, Knight charged again and used Metal Claw consecutively, not giving the Comfey a chance to get away. Still stuck in the Torment, the Comfey tried to distract Knight with an Aromatherapy but to no avail. The second Metal Claw made the Comfey faint and fall in the grass. Seeing her chance, Jazz threw a pokeball at the Comfey and waited.

Orion stopped and watched the small Fairy set a lei around Jazz, and a small smile quirked at his lips as she thanked it. As it seemed Jazz was going to catch it, Orion couldn’t help but snicker a little. Well, just as Nik had said, they did make wonderful healers. He knew well enough even if he’d had one for only a short time now. Watching the battle ensue, he shifted around a bit and ended up looking around the area again.
Hm? A flock of— Those are those island birds, the Oricorio with many forms? Well, as if they didn’t have many forms just in their cluster to answer that thought already but- heh. “Yo, Jazz, lookie,” Orion called once Jazz had finished her battle. “That one’s like the one Luke has.” He pointed out the Sensu style. While he considered catching that one— the red and yellow pair were much more interesting. Fishing out two Pokeballs, Orion tossed them upward. “Toxi,” he called to the first, a Grimer. “Gunk Shot down that bird!” he pointed out the yellow one. “Tomtom,” he called to the second Pokemon, a Marshtomp. “Ice Ball at the rest!”
The Grimer threw back her head slowly staring up at the Oriocorio as it flew passed. Rearing up, she spewed gunk at the Pompom style causing the bird to cry out as she was struck. Whipping down with a Revelation Dance, she shot sparks into the air. Toxi cried softly swaying in her own slime but was ultimately unfazed by it too much.
The Marshtomp, meanwhile, summoned a large sphere of ice in his fins and then chucked it hard and fast at three of the birds. One managed to dodge it, the second two flailed too much and were both struck. A soft cry escaped from them as they reclaimed themselves. The third, meanwhile, was irritated and used his own Revelation Dance. The rush of fire hit the Marshtomp but was ultimately ineffective.
A small tch sound escaped from Orion through all of this. “Toxi, Disable then use Crunch,” he ordered. The Marshtomp, meanwhile, needed no order with such a repetition power going on. Disabiling the Revelation Dance, the Grimer caused the Oricorio to freeze briefly as she had been about to try another attack. Swimming in right after to bite her wing, Toxi made sure to Crunch down. The Oricorio recoiled and tried very briefly to take to the air. The Grimer, however, had grasped her legs and was dragging her down again for another Crunch. The bird would faint right after.
The Marshtomp, meanwhile, was throwing out more and more Ice Balls, each bigger than the last. The birds were swarming struggling and flying to avoid the moves. Two were hit by some of the harder ice chunks while a third was batting them away entirely with his Fire. When the round had ended, however, the Marshtomp was a little worn but still ready to go. The birds, meanwhile, were much weaker than before.
