A strange sound would stir both dog Pokemon and their trainer. “Psyyyyyyyy!” W-what? The Herdier and Rockruff looked back at Orion. Orion squinted ahead of him. What was— “Duck!” Oh Arceus. Orion’s lips pressed together in a firm, fine line as he realized just what it was. How do I not have one of those? It was a Water Type and evolved into effectively something awesome so? Well, technically every Water Type was pretty awesome in one way or another. They were part of the Fish clan and all.

“Rockruff,” Orion mused. The dog hopped forward, growling. “It’s a Water Type, don’t be reckless.” The Rockruff growled and pawed the ground. He bet he could knock this thing out with one blow! Leaping forward, he snarled, releasing a Crunch and chomping down on the Psyduck’s head. Orion face/palmed. Well that was one way to go about it. The Psyduck in question yelped from the pressure and released a Confusion in response. The Rockruff yelped back and shook his head a couple of times in return. Orion squinted debating on giving more orders but… also kind of wanting to watch this semi-comedic scene play out.

Growling a little, the Rockruff bounded forward with Electricity in his maw this time. Chomping down and releasing the Thunder Fang in full, he caused the Psyduck to cried out even louder and flail. Suddenly, however, she went still as Amenesia about the traumatic incident made her forget what was happening. Orion snorted. Well, at least the Rockruff learned what to use but… “Hang on, pup,” he called tossing a Pokeball at the Psyduck.

It was only after the Pokeball dinged in capture that Orion (and his writer) seemed to remember he’d been on the phone. Looking down at his hand, he found that yes he was still connected. “Ah~ sorry got distracted,” he mused. “I’m focusing now, what were you saying?” The person on the other line was very displeased and kept reinforcing that he should at least say something before getting distracted. “I know, I know, I wi— oh, hang on got something else. I’m… going to have to call you back actually.” A loud ‘Don’t hang up!’ reverberated before Orion hit the end button anyways.

Rockruff was snarling, his fluffy fur all on edge. Herdier too seemed on edge by whatever was incoming. Squinting down the tunnel way, Orion couldn’t quite see anything just yet. The sound… the sound of flying, however, was readily becoming disconcerting. Fishing out a Pokeball, he released a Gurdurr. This might have been a blunder anywhere else, but they were in the Tunnels so.. So. “Get ready.”

What came flying in was a flock of Murkrow and Honchkrow all yapping and carrying on. “Herdier, Thunder Fang those three. Rockruff Stone Edge. Ryder Stone Edge!” Orion called. As the birds came closer, the Herdier released several rounds of small shocks that spread out over the birds knocking them down as they came closer. Rockruff was quickest to get his Stone Edge up knocking out one of the Honchkrow immediately. Ryder was slower but effectively released two Stone Edges, taking down two of the Murkrow in the process. Orion smirked a little dryly.

“Herdier, get the last three,” Orion called. “Paralyze them and finish them with Thunder Fang.” The Herdier was quick to throw out more Thunder Waves, snagging the three Murkrow in an electric snare of sorts. They dropped but were not down yet. One whipped out a Haze that started to fill the area. Another forcefully used a Taunt to keep the Herdier from doing any more. The last was paralyzed, however, and struggled and cried instead.

A small ‘tch’ escaped from Orion, but he’d be the first to encourage the Herdier onwards. “Thunder Fang.” Launching herself forward, the Herdier bit into one of the Murkrow causing him to flinch if not faint. One managed to beat the paralysis that turn and ushered out a Sucker Punch right after. The Normal dog growled irritated but withstood the attack otherwise. The last, poor thing, was still paralyzed. Another Thunder Fang would finish the first Murkrow while still more would do in the other two. It took more time, but Orion was more than willing to let her have it.

Fishing out a couple Pokeballs, Orion tossed them at the birds. He could keep a few, sell a few, ah yes. Hm?? Walking over to one of the ones he hadn’t selected for capture, Orion pulled up one of the treasures it’d been carrying. A Nature gem eh? Heh.
