It had been a while since he’d gone fishing. On realizing that Orion immediately regretted it. So wrapped up in home life, work life, and whatever else life decided to throw at him, he’d gotten caught up for far too long. He needed to continue expanding his collections of fish, and while he could certainly pull some strings and have them bred, he preferred to catch them every now and again too. Winding up a line, holding back a reel, and then chucking both forward. He watched the lure hit the water and bobble around slowly. Hopefully something of interest would bite…. But if not, he could take the time to zone out of his own accord. That could be nice in its own ways depending on the day.
Alongside him, a Mareanie seemed to circle around on the dock. He was a restless creature, and some part of Orion vaguely wanted to return him, but it was his day of sorts so… He’d just deal with it and let him do whatever he did. Go with it in the meantime.

The line of his rod began to roll, and Orion was quick to catch it. “Finally!” he snapped starting to pull in. Reeling back a ways, he found it suddenly stalled and then pulling back. Gritting his teeth, Orion tugged. The line tugged back harder still. What the fuck? Had he caught a boat or something? Orion grit his teeth reeling and fighting. “What the fuck is it?” This would go on for almost ten minutes. The sound of the line zipping and snapping echoed in Orion’s ears, and somewhere in the back of his mind, he prayed it wouldn’t snap just yet. Whatever was fighting him so badly had to be strong ri—
What pulled itself out of the water was none other than a massive Gyarados. Orion’s eyes grew wide over the red rims of his glasses, and he stared for a moment without word. “Oh fuck…” The Gyarados roared, and Orion was scrambling as it dive bombed where he’d been. “You’re up Mare!” he called. The Mareanie seemed frozen, however. Orion swore, diving to avoid being bitten by this massive fish. “What the fuck man!” Scooting around, he raised a fist and slammed it into the Gyarados’s face.
The great fish roared angrily and Thrashed about, trying to hit anything in his path. A sharp “Shit!” escaped from Orion a he dove out of the way again. This fucking thing was annoying him! Fishing out a Pokeball, he released a Treecko. “Treecko, Giga Drain!” he called. “Mareanie, Toxic!” The Treecko leapt into action, running sideways and stealing energy from the Gyarados. The Mareanie finally had enough gal to release a Toxic substance on the Gyarados.
The vicious sea dragon, however, was still Thrashing about violently slamming into everything and anything. Slammed by the move, the Treecko cried out and went sailing sideways. The Mareanie withstood it but seemed more frustrated than anything. “Treecko! Endeavor!” Orion snapped. The antsy Grass type forced himself upwards and summoned up power. Running forward and slamming the Gyarados with it, he succeeded in doing a lot of damage. “Mareanie!” Orion called. He didn’t need to give the final order, however. The toxic Pokemon already understood what was being asked for. Summoning up a Venoshock, he slammed it into the Gyarados. The sea snake collapsed sideways towards the water, and without hesitation, Orion threw an Ultra Ball at it.
What… what he didn’t expect was what came next. As the Gyarados was drawn into the ball, the sounds of rushing water would hit Orion’s ears. Turning just in time to see two Gyarados break from the water, Orion stared for a moment mortified. Arceus fuck??? “Treecko, Endeavor both of them! Mareanie! Toxic Spikes then Posion Jab!” Using his weakened self, the Treecko went barreling at the first Gyarados, lowering its health down to his own. The Gyarados was not yet down, however, and Thrashed about. Light and agile, the Treecko avoided the damage as best he could before slamming an Giga Drain into him. The Mareanie, meanwhile, was too busy setting up Toxic Spikes to avoid the Thrash of another Gyarados. He yelped briefly before recovering some and shaking his head. Forming a Posion Jab, he slammed it at the Gyarados in question. Right after, the Treecko came in with yet another Endeavor and weakened it enough that one more Posion Jab was enough to finish things.
Orion couldn’t afford to pass up the opportunity. Even if the balls were expensive, he had to catch them while he could. Tossing out more Ultra Balls, he was about to congratulate the two when two more showed up. Thankfully these ones were poisoned by the prep work, but that didn’t stop Orion from swearing. “What the fuck?” Orion emphasized irritated now. The Treecko huffed but lunged forward, already using an Endeavor to weaken the Gyarados once than twice. The Mareanie was more in synch this time issuing out a Venoshock on both. The Gyarados fainted in unison only for one more to rise up.
A small, ‘tch’ sound escaped from Orion as he threw down more Pokeballs and gave the order again. The Treecko lunged, the Mareanie shocked, and the last Gyarados finally went down. Orion huffed and threw a Pokeball at that damn one too.
