Mission name: Manipulative Management Participants: Marceline Labelle Spawning?: 3 spawns of business situations Marcie has to deal with using her power. Ranging from a double crossing on the criminal side, or legal business like a loophole she has to manipulate Mission details: Marceline has been using her psychic suggestion in abundance lately, and as such she is soon to improve them. Before that, she has a few associates she has to deal with, some that may push her to use her skill in more creative ways. New Skill:
Psychic Minor : Suggestion
Marcie's capability to influence people is fairly subtle. Those she is influencing tend to be oblivious to the faint pink ring that forms around her eyes as she speaks, but subconciously find her words more enticing and convincing. Her ability to use this power is aided by her training in naturally reading and manipulating people, but on a more basic level, she can only push people slightly beyond their natural limits, able to earn discounts on almost anything, or bring more info out of those she has scared and terrified, leading most to just believe they get a little "loose lipped" around her.
Psychic Major : Suggestion
After much use and further training of the skill, Marcie has grown more powerful in her suggestive capailities. Her words can be far more compelling and reach more recipients, though she does still prefer to deal with one person at a time. With some time and patience, she can pull most of a person's secrets out of them or convince them to even push hefty limits on what they will or won't do. Marcie can not reach wide crowds like some with the suggestive skill, but she can "Implant" an idea, able to whisper in someone's ear and, if they are receptive enough to the suggestion, make them believe it was their own thought without ever registering her speaking.
Sitting in her office, Marcie was toying with an executive toy, the pendulum swing, or a "click clacker" as many people referred to it as, pulling one end into the air and watching it slam down, the forces transferring through the ball bearings and lifting the ball at the other end. It was a...quiet day to say the least. Orion had requested the day off, Misora had work, Momo was still underground and she had no real business to deal with, to the point she almost jumped for the speaker button on her office phone when it finally rang, sighing in relief.
Boredom was the whole reason she left Kalos...
"Labelle, how can I help?"
Hearing one of her business associates on the other end (Breeding or criminal, mod's choice) Marcie was oddly relieved, thankful that some form of issue had arisen with her work just so she didn't have to sit in here all day waiting for meetings that had been abruptly rescheduled to tommorrow.
"Right, I'll be on it in just a moment."

It seems some plans for a merger of business between a larger firm has fallen through. The main man in charge has decided he'd rather keep furthering his company and not sell out to Ms. Labele. This would mean a lot of work already done would be going down the drain. How to fix this? 750 words

Marcie had recieved the details of the murder falling through from her lawyers who had been dealing with the legal side of things. She wasn't too invested in the project herself, but it put a lot of already succesful ranches under her if it managed to succeed, which would mean no investment in rebuilding, and she could tell anyone investigating them that she just added them to the success of her existing business if they questioned why they were suddenly bringing in a greater income under her control. Afterall she did have the magic Marcie touch. It was...something she didn't need...but she wanted it, and she'd put in a lot of time and effort to make sure this went through to begin with.
"So if the big man upstairs wants to focus on his own business I'm going to need some leverage..." Sitting at her desk for a moment, she debated what she could use. It wouldn't be hard to find dirt on anyone but with this being a merger she'd still need to work with him...she'd need to garner a sense of trust between them to make sure he was easier to manipulate and slip things by in the future...Didn't he have a son? Young boys always found themselves..if she could find something he got into she could try and resolve it as a bartering chip...or she could go past him entirely? No no...he had a majority share...as much as she could make sure the other stockholders were pissed, he still had the final say in anything...
"We'll have to see what we can do with the kid..." She pulled out the files she had on the company, making sure she had her names right before moving on to looking up the family of the owner. She needed to make sure she had everything right, because if she mis-aimed here...
Before long she knew who she was targeting, and a day after that she had the boys general schedule. This could take some time but she needed to make sure she had things in place. The boy had a few low level crimes under his belt, misdemeanors really, nothing he needed bailing out of or the like...so she needed to make one. Using her shadier contacts and connections, she made sure that the boy would have plenty of...temptation, on his normal route.
About a week later, she had a meeting with the man denying her a merger...and a confirmation that his son was in a little deeper than even she'd anticipated. Oh, now this was delightful.
Finding the older gentleman Marcie took a seat opposite him in a more private dining booth, smiling quietly. They shared pleasantries and Marcie made sure they had some fine treatment from the staff. For the most part it was just pleasant conversation, and by the time their main course came, both of them at least seemed as though they were nice and softened up.
"Look...Miss Labelle-"
"Call me Marceline at the very least. We've shared enough meals to be on first name basis don't you think?"
"Marceline..." He was clearly both on edge and at ease with that comment as he shuffled in his seat. "I know we were both looking forward to this but my heart is set, I just need to focus on my own business at this stage. I hope you can understand..."
"Oh no, no, of course. Honestly I couldn't understand more. You know I was exactly the same when I started Eclore breeding. You want to make sure you have your own name on the door, simple as that right?" The man gave a nod of understanding, and Marcie smirked with delight as she added her psychic twinge to her words with the drop of her bomb. "Besides...I doubt you're in any fit state to be playing risks with your son-"
"What about my son?" The reaction was quick, and Marceline struck like a vyper at a sudden movement.
"Oh just...oh...Oh I thought you knew." She placed a hand over her chest as she feigned sympathy and caution on the issue. "I just...I have a few friends in the...lesser areas of the city and...well...they apparently saw your son getting into some pretty heavy gambling...now I don't know how that's going to look for business but I assume you must at least be taking a financial hit..." She reached across, hiding a smirk and squeezing his hand as she watched the look of dread set in on his face. "Don't worry...I'm sure we can work something out...~"

There has been a recent up swell in the criminal underbelly of Caravella. Quite a number of criminals are coming in and shaking things up. This, in turn, has increased the police watch in the area, and well that can’t be good for business. Marceline must either quiet the criminals causing a ruckus (a small gang known as the Seviper Vipers) or moderate the police to keep her own criminal dealings from being messed with— or perhaps she finds another way to control both? Well, let’s see.

Well...this was trouble and no mistake. A gang not only moving in on her turf but also stupid enough to rile up the police in the process? From the name of them, they were either some idiotic kids getting too big for their britches, or an older gang that was just starting to resurface. The kind to have a brand tattoo and all that. Kalos didn't have much experience with such gangs, heck the regional 'team' was a bunch of rich kids. They even had a million mun entrance fee of all things...for a GANG. Italians just sounded more fearsome, and Marcie had half managed to convince herself none of these nobles could get to where they were without SOME form of illegal backing...
All the same, she had to deal with this. The police were getting too sharp and her own business as suffering. She had to cancel any illegal shipments with how close an eye they were keeping on the docks, and Orion, as discreet as he could be, had been assigned to actual ranch work for a fair few weeks now just out of caution...if she lost any of her workers, she didn't want it to be him. No. She had to sort this out, and sort it out quick. Drumming her fingers along her desk, her espeon curling around her feet, she wondered just what she could do...she did have a few bribed officers in the police force already, but it seemed there was only so much they could do, which she understood. She loved her control, but she knew she couldn't expect too much of a dirty cop when the rest of their offices seemed on the up and up...she needed to figure this out, and be discreet about it.
"Gardevoir, hand me that file we have on the new gang?" Teleporting across the room the psychic pokemon was happy enough to comply, handing across the file carefully and allowing Marcie to parse through it. With more criminal connections it was easy enough for her to figure out who was leading the new family...clearly old crime blood, but a bit too young to have experience...no actual criminal record...but his family where much worse off. Most in jail, or killed in criminal activity...perhaps she could work with that. Get him to calm down by working some strings and getting their family out of jail...no. Too messy. Would reveal herself to them too much. The police chief wasn't as easy a target either, too good, incorruptible almost...no dark family secrets to toy with, that she knew of at least...ugh. This was proving more trouble than she'd ever anticipated.
She needed to use the keen eye of the law to her advnatage...she knew what the vipers were doing, and while she didn't know how they were getting away with it...getting them caught would be far easier than convincing them to stop...
Over the next few weeks, Marcie would establish some small contacts within the vipers group, under the guise of trying to ensure their two groups held some strong relations. In truth, she was testing each of those she spoke to directly, testing who was more or less susceptible to her psychic influence, finally finding someone almost as susceptible as her old aid Beatrice. With careful choices of her words, she managed to draw them into her own side, and, with a bit of light...'encouragement', it wasn't long before the viper's had slipped up, and the cops were on their ass for such a foolish mistake.~
"Look at this, here they are taking all the credit for my hard work~" Chuckling as she watched the news reports on her laptop, Marcie went over the gang in her head, assuring herself none of them could suspect her, and that all business ties between their two organizations had been eliminated. Of course she'd have to find work for the gang member who'd caused the mess up that allowed the police to take them in, but with such a susceptibility to her psychic powers, it would be more than beneficial to keep him on the payroll for some time to come. Of course, this also meant Orion could get back to work, he'd really appreciate that.~
"I wonder if we can do the same with the cops some day...or just tellt hem what we did. I'm sure the chief of police would love to have a friendly partnership with someone who can make his job so much easier for him.~" Giving a snickeirng chuckle, Marcie slowly ran her fingers along the espeon on her desk, enjoying their soft and silky fur as she rested her cheek in her free hand, proud of the little trick she'd managed to pull.

Orion has asked Marceline for some help in lowering the listing price on the house he and Nik are buying. It turns out the house was owned by an older couple whose kids have grown up now, and they’re looking to downsize. The house has only been on the market for a couple of weeks, and they insist the price is “fair” but it is still rather expensive. Their kids, on the other hand, do sort of agree that it is rather expensive for the area and age and might be reasoned with a bit easier than the couple themselves. Of course, there are other legal ways to go should that be a desired route as well.

Well...this was certainly going to be an interesting meeting.
With papers on the house tucked under her arm, as well as the selling family waiting in one of the meeting rooms of her offices, Marcie was getting her head straight on how to deal with this. Really it shouldn't be too difficult, but had been such an out of the blue request that she was thrown for a faint loop as she tried to figure out how to handle the family, getting both their approval on a price while also making sure it was low enough for Orion to afford. A hostile takeover of the land the house was based on could have worked if it was somewhere in Alterna, but being artificial, Pahalla's land laws were...a confusing mess to say the least, and it would be easier to simply talk to the family than hire a lawyer to help her figure out how to smooze them out of it to begin with.
With a deep breath, she looked over the files one more time...the house was nice, but the price was a little steeper than it had any right to be. From what Orion had told her, the grandparents seemed more invested in the house than the children, which made it seem as though the children where the easier targets but...maybe that was somethings he could aim for instead. She checked briefly how long the grandparents had lived there...well over 30 years. Given they were only in their fifties that was likely not only a good chunk of their lives, but one of the first homes in new Pahalla relatively speaking. Give the place ten years to establish itself, prove its viable, and bam, move in while everything's cheep...the home was definitely sentimental, especially if the grandparents had lived in old Pahalla as kids. if the price was met they'd likely give it up...but she had a different angle to work.
Right...she needed to get in there, she could hear them discussing between themselves already, and if they started an argument about the price without her guiding influence, that could raise guards before she had a chance to use it against them. Stepping in confidently, but with an air of seriousness about her, she slipped into a seat at the edge of the table, but close to the family, the table divided between the two younger kids and the grandparents who officially owned the home.
"Right, let's get down to business shall we? I'm sorry to call you all the way to Caravella but I'm sure you can each understand why my client would like a more experienced hand dealing with this case. I'm sure he and his boyfriend never struck you as the most educated on legal manners such as this, and they'd never want to offend any of you with their poor attempts to barter."
Marcie gave off a tone that seemed both understanding and affectionate, while also...condescending, as though she knew better then them all while also understanding their plight. "Lets get to it shall we?"
Opening up her papers, Marcie started weak, trying to gauge reactions above all else and going through simple factors about the home. All in all, it was in incredibly good condition, but trying to knock off a few hundred here or there told her how malleable the parents where, and even a brief use of her psychic influence let her know how much power it held with them. Humming along as she made some light notes, some genuine, and some just pretend scribbles in illegible shorthand.
"Well, that's the matter of the house settled but..." She cleared her throat, leaning forward on her elbows, feeling more comfortable with her plan now that she knew the family more, and how susceptible the older members where to her hypnotic suggestion. "If I may be so bold...I can tell you don't really want to sell. I mean, I'm sure someone might be able to meet your price, and you might be happy with it...but you're not going to be happy with it and that's what matters. Right?"
The older members of the family shared a glance, but it was clear in the kids' eyes that they agreed with Marcie's view...but the house did need to be sold.
"It just...it has a lot of memories..."
"I understand, trust me I do." She reached across, hand over the older mother's, her tone far softer and reassuring...her eyes a subtle tint of pink. "But...my client is eager to create memories of their own, in a home as comfortable and, honestly, fantastic as your own. I struggled to even do my job its so hard to find any fault in it...open space, a fantastic kitchen...I know full well my clients would love to finally start some sort of life together, and your home seems to be the one they're banking on. They could start anywhere, sure...but they want their own memories to fill such a wonderous home, and for their memories themselves to have such a beautiful, inviting, homely backdrop. They don't just want somewhere to live...they want to call it home..."
She slowly pulled her hand back, smiling warmly. "But...I do understand if its hard to let go...it must mean a great deal to each of you.
The older man and woman shared an unsure look as they heard it put in such terms...and out of their sight, Marcie's lips curled into the slyest of smiles.
