Orion stretched slowly before ruffling fingers through his thick green mess of hair. Man, where did the time go these days? Don't answer that. It was still fucking cold, but they were already passed the New Year, somehow. Best to just keep rolling with it, yeah? Yeah.
He had… at some point suggested that he and Mia hang out "more" and had apparently even set up a date and time to go treasure hunting in the Liggs mine but ahahahah maybe he should just flop back into bed and wait for death or something. Nah. Nah, he was fine. It was fine. He was up. Up and fine. Sure, yeah.
And he had most definitely zoned out for almost ten minutes standing at the kitchen counter before Nik had said something that snapped him back into reality and ah fuck he was going. He was going. Toast for breakfast wasn't the most appetizing thing, but he may or may not have packed on a few pounds from Christmas that he needed to get off anyways.
Right. Well then. Letting Kara teleport him off to Liggs, he wandered through the underground before finally coming to the mine. He… was late, wasn't he? Actually wait, no, apparently he was early. Nice work, time distortion brain. Nice work. Guess this was how this day was going to go.

The mines not too far a walk from her gym, Mia was a bit chill getting ready as per usual. She'd just gotten done with her morning exercises, pecking Vesta's cheek and thanking her for breakfast on the way back to her room. As much as she...tolerated, Orion, she didn't exactly wanna give him any reason for Nik to bitch her out later. If she showed up smelling of sweat he...honesty Orion didn't seem the type to complain...neither did Nik if he found out honestly but....
Who was she kidding. Vesta wouldn't let her out the door if she reeked this bad...
Changing into a light tanktop and some cargo pants, the underground staying pretty well heated even in the winter, especially with all the machinery generating loose heat around the mines. Grabbing her arm off the stand she'd made for it by the bedroom door, it was an easy enough fix to put on. Slip it into place, test the fingers, quick flex...yeah. No issue today. Flicking her jacket on her shoulders she made her way to the meeting place, spotting Orion easily enough with that green head and tanned skin. Made spotting him in a town full of people with either sut stained skin or pale tunnel dwellers.
"Sup Greeeeeen giant?~" She smirked a little as she put on a smile, resting her hands in her pants pocket, only a slither of gold color marking her metal arm. Her words came out in the tune of an old commercial she remembered but shrugged it off if Orion didn't get the reference. "Ready to go for a little trek?"

Hmmmm?? Orion blinked a couple of times before snorting softly. He wasn't that tall, was he? Nah, not compared to some of the bears that seemed to be wandering around, especially in Liggs, but he'd take the compliment. "Yeah~ hopefully we can find some interesting things down here," he mused fighting back a strange yawn that bubbled and fell in his throat. "Even with Sableye wandering around, the region seems so plentiful somehow." She… probably wouldn't get why that in specific was so surprising to him, but he wouldn't be pestered to explain further unless she asked. Or maybe she would given Nik? It'd make plenty of sense.
Yellow eyes flickered along the mine wall before he turned and started down it alongside Mia. "I've been down here a couple times, but it always seems to surprise me." Mega Stones, Z-crystals, rare items, and evolution stones- what else was there? Probably more in the larger sections of still uncharted tunnel space, heh.

"Yeah, should be as fruitful a trip as any. I know one of the lesser used tunnels a short ways in, so should have plenty we can pinch. Public access too so we won't get in trouble.~" Did that imply sometimes she did go to work tunnels and pilfer the goods? Maybe, maybe not. Its not like she'd get in trouble if she did anyway, heck no one probably would, it tended to just be a restriction so they couldn't get sued if you got caught in mining machinery. At the fact the region was plentiful being a surprise, Mia narrowed her eyes...didn't Hoenn have sableye...? And...wasn't there champion known for collection rare stones or some shit?
"Er...if you say so...?" She shrugged and started to walk in, locking her fingers and stretching her arms together over her head, her phantom limb symptoms still giving her an itch or the need to stretch now and then, which was especially easy to indulge now that she had an arm TO stretch. "You looking out for anything particular? I'm still on the lookout for some Z-crystals myself...actually you know what they are? Know not everyone does so..."

Orion's lips quirked up a little as Mia spoke. He did wonder if she meant that she went off beyond the restrictions frequently but decided not to ask. Nah, since they were all in enough shit as it was past Friendsmas, it was better not to ask about the pettier stuff yeah?
The question, however, had him looking thoughtful. Since he'd gone on that impromptu mission with Niso, he'd collected the last of the Types he needed in terms of Z-cyrtsals, but there were quite a few specialty ones apparently roaming around still. He couldn't be too sure why Arceus had decided Pikachu and Raichu needed three crystals between themselves when there was already an Electrium-Z, but he never planned to raise a Pikachu or Raichu considering who else he knew who had a specialty one and no of course he wasn't vague passive-aggressive at this point hahaahahh. He didn't have a Snorlax or Mimikyu either, though Nik's Mimikyu was certainly something wasn't it?
"Ah yeah I know what they are," he answered as these quick thoughts concluded. "I have all the Type-crystals now, and a couple of the specialty ones but…" He chuckled playing with a stud in his ear. "I do have all three Alolan starters. Might as well hunt down their specifies eventually~" He paused only to chuckle again. "We should battle again sometime~ Either gym challenge or not."

Hearing Orion talk about Z-crystals, it weirdly bugged Mia to know he knew how to use them...then again Nik was a gym leader, he probably knew and shared the info so that was fine. If he got it through something else, like another criminal, that'd bug her but this really wasn't anything she could be all that bitchy about, resting her hands back in her pockets as they made their way into the tunnels, clearly showing a briefly stunned look as he talked about his collection.
"All the types? Dude I know some collectors who ain't got that down yet. They'd probably pay through the nose to get one or two they're missing if you ever need an extra buck." Kicking a stone, her boots clearly having a reinforced toe since she didn't hiss with how big the rock was, she continued along the path, craning her head back. "Though...what's a starter? That some Eran lingo?" Verian...didn't really have a starter Pokemon system afterall.

A grin flashed across Orion's features as Mia spoke. He was proud of his collection. It had taken a lot to complete it, but in … less than a year of being there? He had done it. Granted, some of them were obtained in less than savory ways, heh. But ya know~ who cared, right?
At the question of statres, however, Orion blinked a couple of times. Mwah? "Ah, ya know, the Pokemon people who start their 'Pokemon Journeys' wander around with?" he asked-stated. Both arms folded behind his head, and a small shrug was given. "My first Pokemon was a Tynamo, but I could have asked for a Charmander if I was in Kanto or a Snivy in Unova or in Alola's case a Litten and Rowlet respectively. Era had a lot of other region starter types cause of where we're located and some bullshit trade agreements or something." He let one hand move forward to waggle it briefly as if he wasn't even sure about that. "Mr. Fish was too cute though."

...Ooooh those were starters. Right. "Yeah we don't get those much in Veria...I mean, we've started to, like official ones, but relatively speaking the League ain't been here that long, so I guess they just...didn't have the ability to hand them out back then? Apparently some guys are planning to start the system up with genuine starters but I ain't really been keeping up with that." She gave a light shrug, lifting her right arm to ruffle the back of her hair. It spoke a lot to Jazz's intricate work that she never worried about getting a hair tangled in the joints of the mechanisms. "My first was a Tyrogue myself. Broham. Should probably try and get him out more...ah he's pretty chill though. Still helps me set up my gym equipment whenever I wanna exercise, he's pretty chill.~"
Dipping off into what could loosely be called a side tunnel, one both of them would need to duck down into to get through, the tiny space didn't last long till they came out into a fresh cave system, one that looked recently dug out with some mineral and ore deposits still clearly embedded in the walls. "Well, here we are. Best get searchin.~"

Ah, that was right. The Pokemon League was rather new in Veria, wasn't it? Not like we had one either, though reverberated through Orion's mind right after. He supposed it might have been the centralized nature of Eran government that had allowed that to be a thing there instead. Yeah, probably. His brow did quirk as she mentioned that someone had tried to start up the system recently. "Should be good for very young trainers," he smiled after a moment. "Or I guess those who want to be 'official'."
The mention of her first Pokemon had his lips quirking a little. He hadn't met Broham when he'd challenged her gym, but he was familiar enough with the evolutionary line to guess he had since evolved into one of the three Hitmons. Ugh, he was almost too tall for this dip, but thankfully it didn't last long. Ah nice~ A small 'heh' sound escaped from him as he started to look carefully over the walls. A hand raised, and drew it over the inlets carefully.
It would be the familiar texture that caught his attention: a spherical touch not congruent with the rest of the cavern's surface. Pausing to twist his hand over it, Orion hesitated before yanking it free. "What do we have here?" Hmmm. It was almost a little dark to tell, but he could fix that with a flick of a Pokeball. The Rapidash that took form filled the area with a strangely bright black flame that allowed Orion to check it more carefully. Ah… a Mega Stone.. The blue hue was nice, but he'd have to look into who it was for specifically. "Found something interesting~" he called. "You find anything yet?"

"Yeah sounds like a good system." Mia adjusted her top once they were through the narrow path, making sure it hadn't snagged on anything, still generally taking in the idea of 'starters' though...had the League mentioned that shit in a meeting once? She should really pay attention to those...or bring a tape recorder. Did people even use tape recorders anymore...?
Shaking off the thought, it seemed Orion already found something, and now she needed to find something herself. Eyes scanned the walls when a glint off a dark gem caught her eye, walking over towards the cave wall and lightly scraping away at the dirt surrounding the gem..yeah! Z crystal. "Oh I got a nice little beauty.~" Her eyes looked back to the hole she'd made, spotting something a little deeper in and narrowing her eyes to catch the pink color...she could probably get it out if she used her right hand but...she may have been a little nervous to scratch this thing with all the work Jazz put in. Reaching in with her other hand, she managed to catch just the edge of what she'd seen, tugging at it a little to try and wiggle it loose.
"Think I got something else here too...unless PINK is a natural color for rocks...!"

Oohhh? Yellow eyes did grow at the sight of the Z-crystal. "Darkinium Z or so it looks like," he commented briefly adjusting his glasses. Hm, what though? Had she come across something else? Unless pink is a natural color for rocks- Was it? Orion felt like he'd read somewhere that rocks could be all kinds of colors depending on what they were mixed with it, but who knew what it was until she got ahold of it? Heh.
-WHIIIINEEEE- Orion's eye flickered to the Rapidash making that noise, the horse stomping the ground and attempting to 'dig' into it. "What is it?" he murmured bending down to the horse's hoof. The latter relinquished whatever he had been digging to reveal a red crystal. That's not Firium… The hue was ever so slightly different. No that's got to be… Fishing it up and holding it to the Rapidash's strange light, Orion squinted. He'd… have to try that one out with Cena sometime. "Look what I found?" he ask stated after a moment grinning entirely too much. "Or should I say Michael found…" A hand raised to pat the Rapidash.

With a final hard tug once she had enough purchase on it, Mia yanked her arm out of the hole in the wall and shook off the dust now covering her arm, careful not to let whatever she'd found go so it could smash against a wall or something, eyes narrowing as she took it in, smirking softly at the deep sea scale. Of course she didn't know that's what it was, having no Pokemon that needed one, but it seemed fancy enough that maybe she could get something out of it.
"Well dunno what this pink crap is, but gotta be worth something right?" Pocketing the scale she moved over as Orion picked up not-firium, the image of it clicking with her and struggling to recall before it clicked. "Oh! Nice find! That's incinium-Z! Got one for Fury myself. May not be a gym Pokemon, but his Z-move is awesome!" She jumped back, taking a powerful stance as she described the amazing move. "The Incineroar creates a ring of fire, leaps into the air, and BOOM! The whole room erupts from the impact!"
