{MISSION DETAILS}Mission name: Master of Manipulation Participants: Marceline Labelle Spawning?: 5 spawns of roughly 650-750 words (rather than 3 of roughly 1000). Each one taxing Marcie's mind OR manipulation skills in some way. Mission details: With interpol likely keeping an eye on her lately due to recent events, and still making sure the final touches to her labs were going through, Marcie has been stressing over her business more than usual. As such, it seems she's ready to awaken the full potential of her skills as a psychic, through interpol investigations, rival crooks, and just plain old red tape in Alto. New Skill:
OLD
Psychic Major : Suggestion (2)
After much use and further training of the skill, Marcie has grown more powerful in her suggestive capabilities. Her words can be far more compelling and reach more recipients, though she does still prefer to deal with one person at a time. With some time and patience, she can pull most of a person's secrets out of them or convince them to even push hefty limits on what they will or won't do. Marcie can not reach wide crowds like some with the suggestive skill, but she can "Implant" an idea, able to whisper in someone's ear and, if they are receptive enough to the suggestion, make them believe it was their own thought without ever registering her speaking.
NEW
Psychic Master : Suggestion (3)
Marcie has finally become a master of her signature skill. Marceline's skill is still focused heavily on single recipients or very small groups, but she has become more potent, to the point she can make some recipients believe blatant lies if she is to tax herself. While long term manipulation would require regular contact, she can convince even those with a strong will to briefly bend their own moral code for her. She has also gained the ability to subtly implant a subliminal signal in recordings or over long range communication. It is significantly weaker, and needs careful wording, repeated exposure, or a willing recipient to truly work. A notable use would be recording a subliminally laced lullaby for her partner Orion. Marceline sat at the desk of her Caravella offices, doing some more 'real' work to make sure her facilities were well supplied. In recent months she'd had a lot of expenditures building the AZOTH foundation, and as such she needed to make sure that all of her ranches were bringing in as much legitimate cash as possible to hide the money laundering she was performing through them...especially with what happened at christmas. "Yes...yes I'd like-No. No. We go through this everytime could you stop trying to sell me the warranty on those incubators. I sell them to clients I'm not going to be bringing them back so if you could-" Ah fuck. Spiking headache...she'd been getting those weirdly frequently lately... "I'll call you back...Yes the main order stands." Hanging up, Marcie rested her head for a moment and massaged her forehead. She'd had headaches like this when she was training her telekinesis but...maybe she needed to get a check up with the Kalos league. She could do it with the Verian league but...yeah. Best not to risk that now of all times.

Over the next week, Marcie will find that she has… more than one or two stalkers?! They're shadowing her, following her, but in a semi-noticeable way that indicates they probably aren't Interpol agents. What a horrible time to be dealing with this on top of surveillance from a more legitimate organization? Of course, she could ask Orion to deal with them or even the local police, but that would attract even more attention and up the anti on this tense situation.
It turns out these stalkers are actually a small group of frustrated kids. They're not so much a gang as a band of ruffians hoping to rob her and make a quick buck on the streets. They don't trust adults and would be warry of her approaching them in any capacity. However, should she get them on her side, she might actually have a small group that'll work for her and cheaply. Best be careful, though. They are still kids and tantrums may happen during any type of "negotiations".

Walking down one of the lower streets of the Venice like city, Marcie's eyes flicked briefly over her shoulder, catching the movements she'd been seeing every now and then for a week or so. Now if it was an interpol agent, she'd see no movement whatsoever. They tended to hang out in casual, stationary spots and watch her as she passed, pretending to enjoy a cup of tea, prodding a camera out between curtains in a stakeout building, simply feeding Pidgey from a bench. What she'd seen where people rushing back into side alleys, ducking behind trashcans. Yeah, these weren't even professionals let alone Interpol.
Whoever it was seemed to be getting more ballsy as she'd been catching bigger glimpses of them. She casually released her Gardevoir to walk alongside her, the Pokemon a little surprised as it never tended to be pulled out for casual interaction.
"So dear, I was thinking when we get home we should do something with those carrots in the fridge?" It wasn't unusual for humanoid Pokemon to help out in homes like with the cooking, especially the smarter psychics. Gardevoir however was left confused, narrowing her eyes. Marcie hated carr-CODE! That was there code. She resisted the urge to face palm as it settled, but her eyes widened and her gaze intensified to the point Marcie would know the message was received loud and clear. That was their signal that Marcie could be in some form of danger. "Now I don't want to dice them-" Non=lethal approach. Got it. "But it can be so hard to find a good recipe-" Whoever was a threat wasn't easy to find...Gardevoir's eyes dipped behind them, spotting the movement herself before sharing a nod with Marceline.
"What do you think?" The Gardevoir simply nodded, and teleported. From behind a corner the young boys assumed from what little they could hear the Gardevoir had just teleported home...at least until the feminine Pokemon reached out and grasped their hoods, lifting the young teens off their feet and glaring at them in turn, invading their minds with her telepathy.
'What do you both want with my Mistress?'
"GAH FUCK! ITS IN OUR HEADS!" Kicking and squirming both of them tried to get away as Marcie turned on her heels to come and talk to them, smiling a little too confidently at the fact she'd caught them each so easily.
"Well if it isn't my little stalkers. This all of you?" The two slowly calmed down, clearly not giving up by the look in their eyes, but realizing the kicking and squirming wasn't doing much. Both of them said it was just them, but with a faint pink sheen coming to her eyes, Marcie asked again. "Are you sure that's all of you? I'd hate for my Gardevoir here to provide some encouragement for the truth...~"
Electrical sparks fired from around the tips of the Gardevoir's fingers, sending light, harmless jolts through the boys. One was especially quick to answer, blurting out. "Bill's behind the bins!" "Ah fuck man!" Marcie looked past the boys in the clutches of her Gardevoir, smirking at the young girl walking out from behind a trash can that had been left deeper in the alley. Carrying a baseball bat no less.
"Oh don't worry I'm not going to hurt any of you...Gardevoir?" The psychic gave a nod and lowered the kids down to their feet, though teleported to Marceline's side as a reminder they had little chance if they decided to run again. Marcie examined them...clearly they either didn't have parents, or just poor families at best...notably none of them had exposed pokeballs, and the girl's instinct had been to grab a baseball bat. "Do...none of you even have Pokemon? You must have been real brave to think you can come after me without them...~"
The kids huffed between themselves, the girl hoisting the bat over her shoulder and stepping forward to explain. "We wuz gun' rob ya miss. Ya dress like one'a dem noble lasses!" "Oh? Do I not anymore?~" "Well ain't no noble lass who gun give us a chance to knatter. Soz about dat. We only try and 'it dem prissy slags." Marcie snorted into her hand at how blunt these kids were...at least they had some morals about their targets...Marcie kneeled down, addressing them with a pink sheen to her eyes.
"You're all looking a little hard up on cash...no harm no foul...in fact. I think I can help the lot of you.~" She nodded down the direction she'd been walking. "No tricks, would you all like something to eat? Maybe we can talk a little more about a little...opportunity you could all have.~"

Things have settled down in Caravella for the moment. The kids are happy to help and make for better ranch hands than stalkers or informants, but they may grow in time. However, as part of Interpol's searches, the League has placed a "temporary" hold on Marcie's building and expansion plans. Even though so much of the lab is complete and functional, it cannot be licensed and registered. Engineers that would normally come in to check on equipment have also been kept at bay from this similar red tape issues, and thus it's not considered safe let alone feasible to continue any kind of science there at the moment. How many red tapes can Marcie snip to maybe at least get this moving again if slowly?

"...They what!?"
Really!? ...REALLY!? She'd had Luke, Jazz, and god knows who else working out of that facility even when half of it hadn't finished being built. The machinery was fine, the structure of the building itself was sounder than ever, who would think for the life of them that it was unsafe!? Sure the building was 'official' now but had no 'registration', but with Interpol blocking her papers till they investigated it themselves, she was left frustrated as her more moral projects were left to suffer and wait. Some of those were even time sensitive with the patents she had organized and degrading materials...
"Right right...get in touch with everyone who uses the underground labs. They should still be able to access them, but I don't want Interpol to see any engineers or scientists heading towards my labs before magically dissapearing in the woods behind the facility. I don't want them having any reason to look for the underground levels? Understood? Good. Now get on it. I have some calls to make."
Hanging up the phone the greenette fell back into her chair and let out a loud sigh...fuck her head hurt...she couldn't even use her manipulation over the phone so this was gonna be fun...still, she couldn't rest on this. She was frustrated, but she had to make sure she did this before she got too comfy relaxing. Flipping through a few numbers, she called around to try and just better understand the situation first. As far as she could understand it, everyone agreed the facility was safe, but could not be legally deemed so...right...that probably crossed out any of her less urgent projects but if she could get at least a few of them moving that would be beneficial.
"Hello could you put me on with the...head of control for combustable materials?" Perhaps not the most direct route, but it should help. Now that she understood what she was up against, Marcie made sure to get as much evidence as she could to support the fact that, at least some of her engineers, NEEDED to be in the facility. She knew full well some of the materials in her labs were dangerous, heck Luke was researching how to find, if not even open, WORMHOLES. There were definitely some messy ingrediants for projects like that. After a few more phonecalls, Marcie was getting the information she needed. Handwritten notes, faxes, and emails ready at her side before she started to call the organization that had officially closed off her labs. It wasn't Interpol themselves but a division of the league, which somehow Marcie felt less intimidating...they probably had less reason to stop her directly so they'd be easier to convince.
Using a lot of scientific jargon Marcie's writer wouldn't be able to research let alone comprehend, Marcie ended up being shifted between 3 seperate recievers of her call as she explained the situation to them. While none of her facility was in imminent danger, she quoted the minute chances that some of the materials on site could have adverse reactions without checks, or, simply completing the work they were involved in. It took a solid hour further to manage to convince them, but she managed to wiggle her way, explaining each material one by one with her research, to get about half her researchers back on site at least temporarily. That was good. So long as the facility wasn't entirely shut down her public image would survive since no news reporter could realize the facility had temporarily be put on hold. Further more, she managed to convince them to allow her workers to do the finishing touches to the facility. Afterall if there were dangerous materials to store, it was best to ensure nothing would fall apart and set them off.
"Thank you very much...it was a pleasure doing business with you." Leaning across the desk, she all but slammed the phone down...or she would have if she had the energy. Ugh. Her head was getting worse...

And on some sadist's cue, the Alto natives and the 'locals' are at it again. Lots of fighting and arguments in the streets, and while the natives seem to still be on reasonably good grounds with Marcie, they are starting to question her involvement in all this as well. They want to raise the price of the land that she bought from them as well as investigate for themselves what all went on in the lab. If any of it is found to their disliking (aka: not natural and sanctified), they have grounds to have it removed. There is a shaman who has been trying to calm down her people during all of this, insisting that starting more fighting would do no one any good. Perhaps Marcie can talk to her and calm down this situation without exposing any of her scientists and project workers.

Marcie was sitting on a lounger of all things outside her own facility. She'd been called to Alto on the fact that apparently the locals had been protesting her facility now of all times. Had the league given them a nudge or something? Interpol? No, what was she thinking? She was the one who played dirty not them. Still, she'd gotten here early and she could see a small crowd of the Alto natives starting to form, having formed tents outside her facility and just starting to wake up now. The chief of the tribe seemed to be here main enemy, while a more spirtiual shaman was the one person she could rely on. One was trying to raise the price on the land, one was trying to calm the people. Money wise she was...'fine'? She'd used a lot of Niso's funds to fuel this plan, and while she'd left a small amount in his account so he wouldn't run out of funds TOO fast and make him ask questions, she also had a fair bit of change herself if she just wanted to meet their demands...
But...it was HER money. She budgeted herself well. She knew what went into her work, her 'real' work, and herself, and that was HER money. That was her prize for working so well...she could use it but on sheer principal she refused to. No. She needed to weaken the people themselves, and help the shaman convince them...as they began their little protest she pushed from her chair and walked into the facility, showing her ID card to show she owned the building to the league workers who were ensuring no one who couldn't still go in did. Marcie had prepared something for her meeting with the shaman, a little invention one of her workers had been making. It was a little hard to retrieve without that specific worker on site, but she managed to hand it to her Gardevoir easily enough once she found it, having them teleport off site for her to re-collect it off them a short distance away.
A good hour later the protests were in full force and Marcie had to work a little to push her way through the crowd. Even with Gardevoir and Delphox at her front and back helping shift the crowd for her, it didn't seem to do much for her headaches as the Alto natives shouted down her ear...she had been nothing but amicable to them since she bought the land, why did they have to be so pissy and ungrateful!?
Forcing her way into one of the larger tents, she let out a sigh of relief without even taking in her surroundings, the shaman sitting cross legged infront of a small bundle of incenses chuckling a little. "I take it was a weary journey through the crowd no?"
"That sounds about right...honestly given the complaints ringing in my ears, I'm surprised you're the one I'm finding most agreeable and not the chief." She returned her Pokemon, placing the device in her bag to one side and took a few slow breaths to clear her head, while prompting a simple "Care to explain that to me?"
The Shaman smiled and rested his hands on his knees. "We Shamans are more spiritual leaders yes, but we also try to be the wise men of our tribes. I understand there is a place for spirituality and nature, but small aids of science have their place...I would not have these wonderful scents relaxing me without the invention of tools that helped our tribe make them. Sadly...it is hard to convince them to take even your side. You've been kind to our beliefs Miss Labelle...but with the recent questions that have arose, the people of our tribe are restless."
"I...fully understand." Great, the Shaman had a strong reason and one that made her delight in what she brought even more, she unveiled a small metalic sphere that seemed to have filters on the side. "I was hoping you could present them with something I was making specifically for the tribe. Its a new water filter that can clean water sources it's dropped into. Say...you put it in your tribe's well or spring. It will remove anything dangerous...now I know, this sounds terrible, injecting technology into your water, but, I can assure you, this is just metal work and naturally found herbs that create the filter. An electric Pokemon needs to energize it once an hour, but it has no batteries, and no moving parts...I would think if you showed them this, and explained while it is not itself science, it was born of science, it may help convince at least some of the tribe...enough to maybe sway the chief."
The shaman took the orb, searching over its surface...he may not be able to convince the tribe itself to use it, but could perhaps tell them of it's benefits for others not so strong in their views as themselves.
"I shall see what I can do...I do apologize for the stress my people are causing you Miss Labelle. The youths can be somewhat...passonate about our beliefs."
"Trust me dear...its just the kind of week I'm having.~"

Well, that... pleased a few people probably. It certainly didn't end the complaints, however. In fact, it added quite a few new (and louder) ones to the pile. A number of young activists are accusing Marcie of simply trying to placate them-- even bribe them, buy their silence-- rather than making any effort to understand their cultures or reasons for being upset. A few even claim she has shown favoritism by visiting only the tribe whose shaman seemed to suit her needs, leaving the other two tribes out in the cold-- or worse, that she sees their working together for mutual causes and doesn't even recognize them as separate tribes at all. While this is going on, some of the city council members and business moguls within town have been overheard being very annoyed with the tribes' complaints. It seems many of them are pretty fed up with similar complaints they've gotten, and wish someone would just shut them down and shut them up already. If Marcie works on getting in better graces with the tribes, she'll likely earn some resentment within the city; but if she tries to earn the favor of the powerful folks in the city, she'll likely alienate the tribes. Can she figure out how to have her cake and eat it too, or what losses is she willing to cut? 725 Words

"Well that backfired..."
Staring out the window of one of the higher floors of the facility, it seemed her gift, attempting to display some good, mostly natural things can come from the science she was working on in the facility, had only seemed to rile up the locals from the way it had been delivered. Headaches, angry protestors, idiots both from the tribe and the general locals who thought their words were worth a damn to her...it was shaping up to be a great week. Oh, and the league and interpol lingering in the background. Can't forget them when they were still guarding the front door to her own facility. With a light kick she rolled her chair back to her desk, resting her hands on the sides of her head as she just rested her forehead on the cool, smooth surface...
This desk was nice. She was gonna miss it if everything went tits up.
...Right. Her hands pushed up and away from the desk. There was no point in moping and suffering with self pity in her own mistakes. She acted hastily in the rush of all the crap she needed to deal with recently, and now she needed to make sure she thought about this carefully. The tribes were clearly far more sensitive and prideful, and at a glance out the window, it seemed the younger generation were the most vocal...if she could get the older, calmer members to listen to her...
No. That would just alienate the council now. The fuss the tribe had been making was causing a disturbance and the council would rather shut them up than actually see them settle their issues with her themselves. Easier to shut them up then actually go through what they needed and make them feel validated...for a second the option sounded good. Easier. Cleaner. Her gift to the tribe hadn't been meant as a bribe, but if she wanted to deal in bribes the council was the way to go. Heck if she gave them the right legal ground to face the tribe on she probably wouldn't need to pay them, just let them do their own work...
No...no. If she was going to work in Alto she couldn't upset the natives. The Shaman was sympathetic to her work, and even if a lot of the tribes were...'difficult', if she got them on side she was more than likely to find a stronger, more permanent ally that was likely to stick by her...if she could buy the council, so could anyone, and the tribe were quietly proving to her they were more likely to follow their own emotions and logic than any rules the league could put on her...
"This'll be tricky..." Running her fingers along one another as a stressful tick, Marcie moved to sit down once again, closing her eyes and just trying to focus.
Within a few days, a few members of the council were in the AZOTH foundations waiting room. In agreement with the league Marcie was allowed to use the building so long as no active experiments were going on at the same time. She was planning to use a press room for revealing new inventions and research to address them, and soon enough had her assistant drawing them in. It took them a few seconds before they realized half the seats were already filled with natives, Marcie standing at the front mid-address to them.
"Ah, and here come our esteemed council members now.~" Twiddling her fingers Marcie held a smug smile, the door closing behind them quickly enough for them to not feel they had an immediate exit. Some of the natives just seemed as alarmed as the councilmen themselves, shifting out of their seat in some cases too. "Do take a seat.~"
The room was pretty even, taking elders, shaman's, and chiefs of all three tribes, and a majority of the council, mostly those who had influence, though a couple were missing from their number.
"Excuse me miss Labelle but I was under the impression that this was to be a private meeting?" "Ah, you see, there's something they say about assuming...I did specifically say I would be addressing the situation with the natives. I did not say I would be addressing the native situation with you alone." The council were clearly a little peeved, but before they could leave, Marceline's lips curled into a smile, her eyes shimmering pink, a brighter, thicker rim to her pupils than there had been in the past. "Do take a seat.~"
The council shared careful glances, but compelled by curiosity and Marceline's light psychic push, they each took a seat. The natives were clearly a little disgruntled being here with the council, but not as loud as the youth protesting outside, they were more willing to hear Miss Labelle out as she remained on stage.
"Now...as I understand it, you, the native tribes." She address the left side of the room. "Are seeing the issues I've been dealing with as a potential sign that I am doing things unnatural and unsanctified, and saw my intended gift to one of the tribe's shaman's as an insult, especially given I, through full admittance, was not aware you are in fact a collection of tribes. Correct?" The older men and women seemed to be in agreeance with that at least.
"And you the Council see the protests the natives are making as unsightly, likely affecting your tourism income yes?" A much...simpler issue, but they seemed to agree. There was a brief comment about some damage rowdier protestors had performed but they were mainly taking a legal and financial standpoint which was clear enough.
"Right. Well here I am in a bit of a pickle. You the tribes technically own the land I purchased from you, and under the agreement that I would work to ease tensions and look into more natural sciences, something I'm still sure that some of your population took grievance with, but you were very understanding and I thank you for that. I should have shown you all more respect by looking into your culture. I acted rashly, and regardless of what has happened to me lately, there is no excuse for my ignorance to your culture. Hence I have strived to ensure all 3 tribes are equally represented here today." Each of them almost seemed to headcount eachother to check that. "As for the council, you can easily tie me up in red tape regardless of the fact the tribe owns the land. So long as I cause issues for you, purposefully or not, you can cause issues for me. Now, I'm not going to insult either of you by simply paying the increase in land price the tribes suggest, or paying off the council to put an end to the protests."
She did realize in saying that, it was clear both ideas had crossed her mind...and they still sounded rather juicy.
"No." Gripping the small podium she was using a little tighter, she shifted her stance. "In the effort of clarity, I will allow both of you to create a small team that will have full access to my facilities and records for the course of one weekend. The council will determine what is legal and what is not, and while the tribe cannot halt all my research, I will make a promise that, should they not find a balance of projects they approve of, then I will strive to work with them to look into new avenues of research to strike a balance." So far she seemed to be holding the room, but some could just be silent about their issues for now...
"Furthermore...you both have scheduled free time to be with me this evening, and at the risk of alienating you both, we're going to be getting you both on better ground. A town like this won't survive with it's two key pillars bickering over rights. For instance, council member charles." She turned to one of the older men on the right, focusing on them. "Is it not true that there is currently a vote that is planning to repeal laws giving the tribe full rights over specific springs? A law only implemented 3 years ago in the hopes of achieving more peace?" She got a nod, but a look that showed he was about to try and defend the case, but before the tribes could turn on the council and ruin her work, she turned on the tribe. "And to the tribes, is it not true that, while you have been making efforts to integrate more into modern culture, a recent series of damages caused to the hot springs north of the city center, was caused none other by young members of your tribe who went unpunished? An act that, outside of your tribe, could have resulted in jail time if not at least a fine?"
With both sides displaying some form of fault towards the other, and Marcie attempting to show nothing but understanding, she pushed through the aching headaches she was getting from prolonging her suggestion skill for so long, took a deep breath, and finished.
"Now...with both of you working together, Alto can be a truly great town, a home for culture, and with the AZOTH foundation, hopefully a place of progress in turn, but neither of those aspects can continue while the two of you bicker and fight. Should the Tribes win out it is likely the prideful youth will alienate those around them and section themselves away from Veria as a whole. Should the Council win out, the tribes will be pushed away and the culture lost with them wherever they go...now why don't we all sit down like adults...and spend a good few hours discussing this. I know you're unprepared, but should things go well, this room will always be open to you, away from the city centre, away from the main home of the tribes. A neutral ground for you to voice your concerns, and in that neutral ground, find common ground."
With a long breath, she focused her head.
"I feel I've talked you're ear off long enough though...leave if you want but I hope at least some of you will stay...would anyone like to take the floor and express their issues?"

After several hours of lengthy and at times heated discussions, both groups finally appeared to start finding some common grounds, and the right subtle nudge from Marcie here or there seemed to be just the thing to push past hesitations when needed. At the end of the meeting, neither side was entirely happy, and Marcie would hear a number of complaints in private from a few folks as they left. Charles was still quite huffy that Marcie would advertise the council's legal discussions like that (never mind that those were public information in the first place, huff), and another council member grumbled something about still not appreciating the surprise intervention... even if she admitted it seemed to work; a 'this went okay this time but please don't do it again' sort of sentiment, it seemed. One woman from the tribes took a bit longer than the others, hanging around until last to have an easier time talking to Marcie. She apologized for the more riotous nature of some of the extremist youths, and promised to talk to her tribal council about trying harder to discourage theirs. But in turn, she was a bit concerned-- especially given Marcie's admittance that she hadn't even realized their were separate tribes until recently-- that she seemed to be under the impression their entire collective culture could be summarized as 'science bad, natural only'. She took a few minutes to explain that it was more about respecting the earth and avoiding needless extravagance-- at least for her tribe, though she admitted she could probably stand to learn more about the others-- and that there was more to their cultures than just that. She did, however, say she greatly appreciated Marcie's efforts in striving toward mutual peace and respect, and while she wasn't sure about all of AZOTH's work she did appreciate the intent in much of what she'd seen. As such, she'd be happy to host Marcie some time and show her some of her tribe's customs. Perhaps join them one evening for a tribal banquet to sample some of their food and see their entertainment~ Between her and Marcie, her tribe was the best one anyway, don't tell the others she said that. She would give Marcie time to consider it, though, and leave after giving her her number (explaining that her whole family shared her phone, but they did keep one for emergencies). (Psst feel free to ooc ignore the offer or just say 'sure Marcie went and did that at some point and it helped her make a few more allies', but also feel free to do an NPC mission some time where that happens. Maybe take Orion and have him geeking out over interesting new flavor combinations. XP)At any rate, while no one seemed entirely happy, Marcie did still get some positive feedback and some admittance that some of the negative was probably overreacting. And in the end, no one was too especially UNhappy either. For tension spanning centuries, this was a very promising outcome to the day, indeed.
After all the Alto drama had died down, Marcie finally got some much needed peace... for about 2 days. On the third, she'd find a particularly persistent Interpol agent seemed intent on keeping an eye on her. Eliza was young, a very by-the-book type, and while she had no more reason than any other to be suspicious of Marcie, she was determined to find something and make this the big case that would launch her career. She's very pesky, and seems highly observant, but also potentially impressionable with the right touch. No need to take on a whole organization or group this time. Just convince this girl one-on-one that AZOTH's work is legit and Marcie herself is a saint; Eliza just might be willing to vouch for Marcie's character to some of her higher-ups, too! 500 Words

Marcie was glad to finally have some time to relax however short lived it was, but of course in these times a break never lasted and soon enough another interpol agent was on her back. A young one, but very strict and by the book. She'd barely managed to organize any time alone as everytime she stepped into her livingroom the agent was practically there knocking at her door. Right...she needed to be done with this for the sake of her own head. Her headaches had been getting worse and she needed just a few more days to recover.
Managing to tactically use Misora and a few of her other grunts to keep the agent busy, Marcie used what little time it provided her to talk to people she knew the agent would interact with. The staff at the coffee place closest to her home, the man at the front desk to her apartment tower / hotel, she even called in a small favor from the young kids she'd dealt with the other day, making sure they would run into the agent just before she reached the hotel. She had a small, but hopefully strong plan between the lot of them, and as she went to bed for the night, she just had to hope it would all fall in place as she hoped.
The next day the female agent was moving from her own temporary residence towards Marcie's home, stopping by the coffee place on her way along.
"The usual please." Eliza was all but ready to lift her phone and entertain herself as they made her order when the barrista on desk caught her attention. "Excuse me, you work with Miss Labelle right?" Eliza was a little surprised to be recognized given she'd only been following her a few days, but nodded along. "That'd be...close to the truth?" "Ah. It's on the house then.~" "...huh?" Eliza was clearly a little perplexed, taking her coffee all the same of course. "Marcie helped make sure this place didn't get trashed during that whole life pillar thing. Even helped pay for the repairs. Only seems fair right?~" Eliza looked to her drink, narrowing her eyes a little. "Er...give us her usual too?" "Coming up.~"
Eliza continued on to the hotel, making a note on her phone's recorder app. She knew Marceline had done enough for Caravella that she was mentioned in the news, but it could still just be a cover. She just hit stop when one of Marcie's young teens bumped into her, balancing her coffees carefully before eyeing the young girl and the two boys. "Oh! Sorry miss!" The girl looked for an excuse to bring up Marcie before spotting the coffee cup with her name on it, smirking subtly and fixing her hat, dressed far better than she had been a few days ago. "Oh hey! You Miss Labelle's new assistant?~" "Er..." "Hey tell her the ranch needs some new incubators yeah? We're good for now but she might wanna get on that." "You...work for her?" "Oh yeah! We er...may have tried to snag her purse but she was real cool about it. Now we got nice jobs, nice clothes, and she lets us sleep at the ranch house with the other workers!~ We were just in town to shop and hit her up." "Yeah!" "S'right!~"
Eliza was more than a little stunned by the chance encounter, but assured the kids she'd tell Marceline. One last encounter was set up for her, and as she asked for access to the penthouse elevator, she was asked by the front desk manager very politely if Miss Marceline was in trouble and if there was anything he could do. That was just...the straw that broke the camel's back. On the ride up, she made a note in her recorder that Marceline seemed to befriend everyone around her and was exceptionally generous. Even if there was still room for doubt, she couldn't see much reason to keep an eye on her like that. At least so stringently. Exchanging coffees with Marcie when she found her, she said she'd still be keeping an eye on her...but she did deserve a few days break from all the stress she'd have.
Marcie would just give a small smile, a nod, thank her for her help...then collapse into the couch when she was gone.
