As the Star Festival had rolled around again, Lucien could barely contain his damn excitement. It had been a great first experience last year, and this year sounded like it was going to be even better! Not only was there was a lot to see and do, the contest had been ramped up to maximum with an actual battle round this time around! Not to mention Lucien himself was much more established in terms of everything than he had been a year ago and could afford to indulge in everything that the festival was offering and then some.
He was quick to enter the contest in every form or fashion, and he was quicker then to book several hotel rooms across the Upper part of Liggs just in case he needed one in specific and didn’t want to walk heh. It was only really after this that Lucien thought to ask his now on-and-off-again housemate Skye whether he wanted to go or not, but the latter seemed reasonably interested so yeah! Now they were wandering around as the festival shops and stalls seemed to be in various states of readiness. Lucien glanced sideways and flashed a grin at Skye. “Ya readeh ta try out all dis stuff?” he asked toothily.

Skye followed alongside Lucien and taking a look around at all the sights of this Star Festival, he admitttedly was very excited. Festivals were always the fun part of going to new places, what better way to learn the culture and have a good time? Skye had his camera up and running and ready to take tons of pictures. He wanted to grab some for his collection of festivals he went to. He was kind of glad that he was at the house and Lucien caught him just in time to ask. He turned back to Lucien and nodded. "This is so amazing, I'm glad I stuck around a little bit longer." Skye sounded genuinely excited and hyped, not even five cups of coffee could do that for him. Well that was a bit of a stretch, he hated coffee actually. But that was besides the point, he needed to do all of the things right now. "What should we do first?" Lucien Benoit |

Seeing Skye so excited was enough to make Lucien more excited, and a small toothy grin jumped onto his features thereafter. “Le’s place some ‘f tha games first! They’ve gawt so many prizes ‘n things ta try!” And with that, yellow eyes flashed around drawing over the various shops and stalls before he made a motion for Skye to follow and started in the direction of one of them.
This particular stall featured hacky sacks in the shapes of various planets and a board coated in constellations. The woman running it smiled and asked if they wanted to try it. “Hell yeah!” Well that was one way to get things going, Lucien. He exchanged quite a few bills for a cup of coins that could be used at other stalls and shops and then exchanged a couple coins for some hacky sack balls. “Skye grab s’me!” Well, that was that insistence of Lucien again for you even as he was fishing up his own and starting to toss them.

Lucien seemed to be just as excited as he declared that they should play some of the games the festival had available. Perhaps a little too excited, but that was Lucien. He always seemed to be excited most of the time, happy go lucky Skye thinks. While it was a breath of fresh air, he couldn't help but worry that Lucy's demeanor was overcompensating for something. Although, he couldn't figure out what, it might've been a long passed event. Long before Skye has even run across him, for the time being it didn't seem harmful so he didn't say anything. This wasn't the time or place for it, they came here for the fun right? The game they had chosen to play was a simple one, well simple if you wetent him that is. The goal was simple, the little sacks were to be tossed at the board covered in constellations. Specifically the hole that was cut out of the board, the sacks were supposed to pass through the hole. Skye didnt particularly like these games as a kid, die to the nature of his injuries he depth of vidion was way skewed. It made for going up high places treacherous, hence his fear of heights. Also his prosthetic didn't help his situation either, it obcured his field of vision some. He recalled numerous times he had played games like this at home and completely miss the entire board or object. Eventually he learned another way to get over these kinds of games. Lucien decided he would go first after giving the women a crap ton of bills for coins. Lucy was only a few feet from the board maybe 3 to 5 feet. The board itself was rectangular standing up on its tallest sides. It also seemed to be tilted back just a bit a few degrees. The hacky sacks in question were about as big as the palm of his hand and the hole looked like it was about 10 to 20% bigger than the sack to allow it to pass through without the sack running ito the edges. Using plumb lines, Skye was able to place the get the hole within his small field of vision. Now in order figure out what was the best angle to toss the sack, he'd have to watch the blonde for a moment to see how he would do. Lucien Benoit |

Lucien was… more oblivious to Skye’s inner monologue than his writer wanted to admit to. Sure he was distantly aware that Skye’s aura had started to shift around some, but given how fragment it was and how weirdly it behaved in comparison to so many others, he wasn’t quite comfortable relying on it for a quick read anyways.
Instead, he was focused on the hacky sack in his hand and the board that was away. Drawing up his aura vision as if it would somehow enhance his capabilities, Lucien took in a slow breath and tossed the sack at the board. It fell through the first hole no problem, and the booth manager gave him a rather dirty look of uncertainty in response. Surely that must have just been beginner’s luck or something???
But no, that was not the case. Lucien was dexterous without having trained in it. His hand-eye-and-inner-eye coordination were reasonably on point, and he got several of the hacky sacks in the holes without a problem. He did miss a couple much to the relief of the booth worker, but it was still enough for him to be cheering. “Yer turn, Skye!” he encouraged.

Skye watched as Lucien began tossing the sacks at the board, he could sense a sort of focused sensation like the relaxed sensation he felt when the other was healing himself. He watched as he made the first shot, he heard s disgruntled noise from the booth manager. He had almost forgotten that a lot of these games were phony and ripoffs. Another reason why he didn't like these games. Lucien seemed to have proficient hand eye coordinaton skills, he seemed to trust himself and toss the sacks even though he wasn't certain if they would make it or not. Skye wish he could be that tusting of himself to just do things without even thinking about it. Skye looked back at the nervous manager, some go far to ensure that they always win. He wasn't sure that this guy had rigged the game but he could've at least attempted to not look relieved when Lucien missed a couple of his shots. He supposed it was his turn now, with his gathered information he stood exactly the same distance as Lucien did. He held one of the hacky sacks in his hand, Skye swung his arm to test out this throwing ability. He shfted to the right a bit, before tossing he thought he would give the manager a bit of a scare with a trick he learned while trying to get better at these kinds of games. It was one of those 'you could only do it once' things but people found it very impressive. With all his calculations he was confident that he was able to pull the trick off the first time around. Once he affirmed that confidence, he tuned to the manage to look at him dead in the eye as Skye tossed the sack and it went right into the hole. The look on the manger's face was priceless, Skye turned back to focus on his next shots. He made about 75% of his attempted tosses after that. He moved from his sweet spot and having to recalculate everything would be a pain. He was happy with himself overall. Skye turned back to Lucien and shrugged, "Guess I'm not as coordinated as you are Lucien. What do you want to do next?" He awaited to hear back from the other, there was still plenty of interesting things to do and tons of pictures to take. Lucien Benoit |

Watching Skye move was something. Watching Skye’s aura move was something more. For as broken and battered as it was, the way it swayed with concentration made him feel… something??? Heh. But then as Skye shifted around and absolutely nailed that shot from behind, he couldn’t help but perk up. “Nice,” he beamed proudly. Watching the rest was less impressive but still!!
As Skye finally turned back to him, Lucien was beaming. “Dude what’re ya talkin’ about?! Dat wuz great! he emphasized with just a flicker of pride. “Ah c’nt even do that kinda toss wit’ aura…” Heh, not that he had really tried up to that point, but yeah.

Skye, unused to praise didn't really know how to take that. Although his face covered by his face covering, his ears turned a shade of pink. His hand reached up to scratch the back of his head and he had to look away for a moment because this was too embarrasing. He started walking away from the booth, the manager long forgotten as Skye tried to gather himself before he sounded like an idiot. "O-Oh, uhm thanks? It was nothing, really. Just a small trick I picked up from playing these games back home. I'm...not very good at these skill games on account my depth perception is messed up. I can only really do it once, to do it multiple times would take ages." And a lot of math he wasn't really willing to do over multiple times for the sake of making multiple shots. He was sure with Lucien's ability he could pull off the trick better than he could. Skye stuffed his hands in his pocket, he was looking around when something caught his eye. He saw a stall selling strange looking dolls. He walked over, very distracted as he got closer to the booth. There were little dolls around the entire booth, they were about the size of the palm of his hand. Some were very cute albeit some of them were creepy looking too. Skye picked one up to examine it. Some were of people and other had them in little pokemon costumes, they were really old so this collection only showcased Kanto region pokemon. A popular one was pikachu as there were more of those dolls than any other. "Kewpie dolls, my aunt really loved these things..." He said with a bittersweet sounding tone, when he left her it was on not very good terms and even then she still worried about her. He missed his aunt a lot. Lucien Benoit |

The way in which Skye’s aura shifted had Lucien’s lips pressing together softly. What came thereafter hit him a little harder than it probably should have and just— “Oh….” Yeah… That would have been… kind of like taking Ellie to this kind of booth wouldn’t it? Lucien’s stomach crawled a little, but there wasn’t a damn thing he could do about it now so— oh well? Eheh… He turned, collected his and Skye’s tickets, and then started off in the direction Skye had headed.
A curious look drew on Lucien’s features as Skye chose the next stand. Looking over the numerous dolls that it held, he couldn’t really say he was that impressed but… Yellow eyes flickered sidways as Skye spoke again. Oh…. Huh…. “Ya…. Wanna buy one ‘n sned et to ‘er maybe?” he asked ruffling his own hair some. “Could always nawt put a return address ta keep et a secret ‘n stuff…” Or just put a random address from Kalos or Unova or any number of places. Skye’s family situation was pretty dense, but he could understand a lot of residual feelings at least.

Skye looked over the dolls carefully as he contemplated what the blonde said. Yeah, he certainly could send the package with a fake address. He already knew where she was so it wouldn't be hard to send her things, to let her know he was okay despite the situation they were in. He looked at the kewpie Clefairy doll, Clefairys were her favorite. He looked up to the vendor with doll in hand. "How much for this one?" The vendor explained that purchasing just one would make the set incomplete and lose it's overall value. Skye nodded, that made sense. The vendor probably worked hard to get the collection together. "How much for the set then?" A rare and old set like this cost a lot of money, the vendor then says he can release the one but...he still couldn't afford it. He sighed, there was no way he was going to ask Lucien to pay for this. He already felt bad enough invading the others home despite him being cool with it. It wasn't cool to Skye to be unable to do something so simple as buy a gift for his aunt because he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because of money he couldn't even get because people were trying to trap him under their thumb like some kind of chess piece. He could feel frustration setting in, he quickly set the doll back down. "I can't really afford that. Thanks anyways." Before the vendor or even Lucien could react, Skye disappeared into the crowd. All he could hear was the blood rushing in his head. He never felt so frustrated and humiliated in his entire life, he needed to get away from all of this to clear his head. He found a unused path along the road, there was little to no light there. There he found a worn out bench, he sat down, mask off, and hands in his hair. They pulled on his pigtails harshly as he curls up on the bench, knees hugging his chest and face into said knees. Now he just had to calm down. He knew Lucien would catch up eventually, with the ability to see auras like he can it wouldn't be that hard. Lucien smiled a little as Skye seemed to take up his idea— at least it became apparent that Skye wasn’t going to buy it after all. Lucien’s lips parted and then closed again. Even with how battered and fragmented Skye’s aura was, it was doing that vague regret gesture a pattern, and he… just kinda felt in line with it more than understood it. Yikes…
Yellow eyes flickered from Skye to the vendor who frowned at him. Lucien shifted a moment, ready to suggest he just buy the set then, but from the corner of his mind’s eye, Skye had already taken off. Mwakjdhakjd??? “Skye?!” Lucien’s voice echoed above the crowd for a moment, but even then it was clear that he was still moving away. Drawing up his aura sight and focusing on Skye’s particularly differentiated aura, Lucien grimaced a little as he ‘saw’ what it had become. Ugh yikes…
He hesitated, honestly debating whether to follow or not. His powerful aura tracking abilities would make it no chore at all, but if Skye just needed a bit to be alone….? A slow breath drew into Lucien, and he followed on a little slower, knowing the fragments and pieces of Skye’s aura signature when he saw it. Mannnnn this was supposed to be fun and stuff. Ugh. He walked a little slower until finally coming around to the path Skye had gone. He could see him now curled up on the park bench with his face in his hands. Lucien bit the inside of his mouth hesitating to approach before finally doing so a bit quieter coming to lower himself down on the bench next to Skye. He wouldn’t say anything but just…. sorta… waited.

Skye sat quietly for the time he was alone, just thinking to himself. He was so mad, why did it have to be like this? He felt guilty now, he probably ruined all of Luci's fun with this sudden meltdown. It always seemed to be like that, misfortune seemed to enjoy his company. He could feel his anxiety covering every inch of him, he needed to calm down now. This wasn't going to help the situation and he didn't want to force Lucien to take him home or anything. That wouldn't be fair to blonde, he didn't do anything to get stuck with someone like him, and yet here he was. He found him minutes later, Skye didn't have to look up to know he was there because his senses were buzzing with a familar calming hum. Eventually Lucien say next to him, the bench squeaking as he was settled completely into it. Skye lifted his head, using his sleeve to wipe unshed tears from his eyes. He turned away from Lucien, he always looked awful when he cried. Skye felt his ears turn red, he was a little embarrased. Lucien was a pretty cool guy and now he was seeing like this. He could literally die right now if he could. He curled his arms his legs, still unable to look the blonde in the eye. " 'm s-sorry...I probably ru-ruined your fun. I..." He didn't know how to say it, how to say his emotions over took him and he lost control of himself. How embarrassed he felt, he was better than this. He hadn't cried like this since he was still having nightmares at home, he felt like a child right now. A dumb child at that. He sighed and turned back to Lucien, eyes red and swollen and his scars seemed redder than normal, but it was hard to see in the low lighting of the area. "I...you don't have to stay you know. From the corner of his eye, Lucien gazed at Skye. He drew in his posture, expressions, and most importantly the subtle shift of his aura. The way his aura swayed and tangled was almost painful to register in a way, but Lucien didn’t look away. As Skye started to speak, however, Lucien folded one let up on the bench, one arm over it, and rested his cheek on that arm. The apology had him frowning, but he waited in case Skye wanted to say something else on top of that. What came after, however, had him frowning a bit.
“Easy there dude,” spilled from his lips before anything else. Guess that was one way to start that conversation. “Ya haven’t ruined anythin’ yet.” Not unless Skye had decided to find and terrorize his family or some shit. “Sokay ta be upset.” Even if Lucien could barely register why Skye was upset, his emotions were displayed pretty well through his aura right then. “Jus’ dun let et ruin yer day.” The corners of Lucien’s lips quirked up, and he eased of his knee before shrugging his shoulders. “Dun stress so much ‘bout mah fun either. Sal good.” He offered Skye a silly face and a shrug.

Skye felt the weight of Lucien leaning on to him, the blue hair young man could feel warmth spreading from the back of his neck and to his ears again. He released a shakey breath, he nodded. Lucien was right, he shouldn't stress so much about these feelings. What's done was done and wallowing in his feelings was just going to make him feel worse, he could probably find something else at the festival at a more reasonable price anyways. He wasn't really upset about the dolls though, he realized he'd tolerated his shitty situation for too long. He shouldered the burden and had been on his own, not realizing how much it was festering inside of him. "I...thanks Lucien." He wish he could let things go sometimes, he knew he couldn't change the past. There was no reason to dwell on things that have come to pass. He slowly stirred, sitting up so he could fix his hair. His scalp was stinging from all the stress hair pulling he did, after he redid his hair he grabbed his face covering he clasp the snaps. He cracked his neck turning it to the sides and looked back at Lucien. "Okay...I'm alright now. Uhm...we can find other ga,es to play if you want. I know I said my limited depth perception makes it hard to play these games but I still like to play them. Or we can do something else...maybe grab some food?" He wasn't going to be able to eat it with so many people around, but Skye wanted to continue on with the rest of the event. He also needed to take his mind off of things. Lucien Benoit |
