The Pokemon that aggregated in Liggs for these types of festivities were always a sight to be seen. Stars and Space themed Pokemon and numerous Aliens seemed to all come out of the stone to celebrate with the humans, and in this way, an Elgyem came through the brush. Its thoughts were on searching out some human candy or prizes, and it was this strange foreign thought that caused Kris to stop walking.

“Huh?” Yellow eyes flashed around searching for the source of such a thought, but in the evening light, what Kris would find was certainly not what she expected. She stared for a moment transfixed by the creature before it too took notice of her and stared in turn. An Elgyem… If she hadn’t just had one bred, she most certainly would have captured it that instant to continue her Psychic collection. Instead, she was caught in a moment of uncertainty. Surely Mime Jr. could work in pairs, and she knew plenty of people who had many Pokemon but….

Ok, ok maybe she was missing or actively avoiding the elephant in the room which was that she was pretty sure she’d heard its thought. Was it… perhaps Telepathic? That was one of their abilities, actually. Right, that made total sense then. “Uhmph… hi?” The Elgyem bristled and frowned throwing up an arm and getting ready to attack. Kris squeaked, fishing out a Pokeball and releasing a Litwick on cue. A Power Split would not do much for either Pokemon, but the “Fire Spin!” that escaped from the Litwick was sure to ensnare the alien Pokemon.

The battle that transpired thereafter was a battle of time and uncertainty. Neither Pokemon had the best offense in terms of anything with the Elgyem not even having a solid attacking move. Still, it could do a couple Pain Splits and offer up some damage that it sustained form the Litwick to the Litwick. The latter protested this heavily and was more than willing to be shady in order to do even more damage back. As the Elgyem finally backed up and backed down, however, Kris was left sighing softly to herself.

Hmmmmm. Well, maybe while she was out this direction, Kristina could look for other Pokemon of interest, yeah. Though she had had an Elgyem, there were other Psychic Pokemon that she was still looking to fill in her gap of things, so why not then? Picking up her Litwick and slowly starting down the line she had been walking again, Kris kept her eyes open, her mind alert and ready for anything.

This would… pay off in a strangely unexpected way as her yellow eyes caught sight of a particular shade of blue peeping out from a brush. Whereas some might have registered it as a Minior core color or something along those lines, however, Kris intrinsically registered that no it was shiny. Stepping around the bush carefully, she tried to get a look at it only for the creature to shy away again. Kris frowned and resolved to be persistent for now at least following along with the Pokemon’s slow motions until she got a good look at what it was. A Ralts! She already had one— and a Gardevoir and a Gallade pair. She technically didn’t need another one! But this one was… this one was shiny! A shiny in the wild of all things!

“Hey wait a second!” The Ralts finally paused looking back towards her and frowning a bit. On realizing she had no idea what she wanted to say to it, Kris took in a quick inhale and exhale. “Please battle me! I’d love to catch you and be your friend!” The Litwick in her arms offered a bright smile as always. The Ralts seemed a little uncertain, but as Kris waited for the answer, it slowly seemed to come around. “Yay! Thank you!” Kris set down the Litwick again before starting to give out orders.

The battle that followed was about as one-sided as one would expect given a Psychic-Ghost match up. However, after taking a Fire Spin and an Inferno, the Ralts managed to get off a Hypnosis that did cause the Litwick to fall asleep briefly. Kris tried her best to rouse the small candle Pokemon, but it was only after a Dream Eater failed that she did come back, in fact. Another round of attacks, and Kris was fishing out a Pokeball to chuck at the shiny.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Kris brigheted and watched it disappear off to her PC. “Thanks, Lit!” The Litwick smiled tiredly and gave a simple nod. Kris hesitated before returning her for now. She could use the rest, and Kris had other Pokemon if need be. Starting onwards again, she continued to look around for Pokemon of interest—

And then… a strange vibration would start to catch her attention. She could feel it in the ground, rolling, flowing— What was— Kris turned around to find an Exeggcute staring at her. In the center egg’s mouth, however, was a strange item. A… a purple egg? Closer to violet… Why did it?? Before she had a chance to think, the Exeggcute had shifted forward to ‘hold up’ said egg to her. Kris blinked slowly before reaching to take the egg offered to her. Staring down at it and looking back up again, she nodded slowly. “Ahhm… thank you?” Pocketing the egg, she smiled a little. The Exeggcute smiled in unison back.

Kris bit her lip. She technically had ordered an Exeggcute egg from a friend in Caravella, but here was a wild one being rather peaceful in front of her. She… could always evolve the two branches separately if she worked on it…. “Ah— wait!?” she stuttered as they started to roll away. Kris shifted a little and grabbed and enlarged a Pokeball. “Let’s battle— please?” The Exeggcute seemed to squint and look at each other before finally nodding. Alright. Kris nodded back and released a rather ‘stuck’ Pokemon. “Beldum! Use Take Down!” The rocket arm Pokemon went rushing forward and doing damage. Kris wished very hard that it knew any other move, but for now it seemed legitimately stuck in a cycle. It could fight at least but fight in an inefficient way.

The Exeggcute raised up a Reflect to weaken the effects of the Beldum, but slowly and surely the Pokemon was worn down. Fishing out a Pokeball, Kris tossed it forward and snagged the Exeggcute.

From the corner of her eye, Kris caught sight of a Munna now watching. She…. she technically had one of those, but maybe it would be worth a battle to train up her Beldum some more as well. Directing the arm Pokemon that way thereafter, she launched into a rather one sided fight that thankfully ended pretty quickly.

The Beldum had taken quite a bit of damage from all the fighting, and Kris was rather relieved to return it for now. Well…. she could be sure that it was a rather strong even with its limited moves. Still, she hoped it would evolve soon and expand on that some at the very least.

As Kris moved on, searching for Pokemon again, she would once again be approached unexpectedly by a Pokemon holding an egg. Kris blinked and bent down as the Petilil came forward holding her hands forward as the small creature handed it over. Mint color… What did these eggs mean? “Thank you,” Kris said anyways reaching forward and patting the Petilil. The latter smiled and wandered on thereafter happily. Rising again, Kris stretched and froze as a particular sight caught her eyes.

A…. a Starmie … was in a tree? Lodged in a tree right above her, in fact. How had it gotten up there? Never mind that it was a Psychic Pokemon that she needed to add to her growing collection. How did a Water Psychic Pokemon get there? “Are you ok??” Kris called. The Starmie flashed lights in its core before suddenly spinning rapidly down and landing in front of her. Kris backed up immediately, eyes wide with confusion. The star Pokemon spun again threateningly, and a sharp noise escaped from Kris. Ok, ok, ok, she understood that call loud and clear. No need to shout again.

Fishing out a Pokeball, Kris released a Duosion. “Yulia! Rollout!” Kris called. The Duosion rather quickly began to roll forward, slamming into the Starmie, and shoving it back some. The latter burst with a starry Swift in response. The Duosion grimaced but was not out just yet. Kris bit the inside of her mouth,but kept ordering attacks. “Acid Armor then Psychic!” she called. The Duosion managed to strengthen himself against the oncoming Rapid Spin with an Acidic Armor before thrusting it back with a Psychic to the core. The battle went on like that for some time before the Starmie finally hit a tree and did not rise. Kris exhaled softly, fished out a Pokeball, and tossed it at the Starmie.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Kris beamed. “Great work, Yulia!” she praised. The Duosion swayed and smiled happily back. Kris giggled a bit in return. She considered returning her right then and there, but something out of the corner of her eye caught Kris’s attention.

A Solrock had been watching the battle and could no longer contain its curiosity. What an interesting human and Pokemon there! Oh! Oh no they had noticed it! Immediately thereafter, the Solrock began a Rock Polish, shining brighter than before.

Kkasjdhkajdshad. Squeaky noises ruptured passed Kris’s lips as she was quick to recapture her Pokemon. “Yulia get ready!” The Duosion turned and uttered a noise. “Pain Split first!” That would hopefully get them on a more even playing field before it got too chaotic. The Duosion managed to rob the Solrock of some energy, but that in turn pissed it off even more. Returning with a Rock Slide, the Solrock brought down the harsh rocks upon the Duosion who cried out in turn.

“Yulia!” Kris cried about to switch her out when the Duosion assured her she was alright for now. “Pain Split again then use Rollout!” The Duosion managed to steal some more of the Solrock’s energy and then rolled around avoiding another attack before hitting hard and fast. The Solrock cried out, colliding with a tree, and didn’t get up again. Kris exhaled weakly. “Thanks, Yulie,” she spoke. The Duosion smiled and waved her small appendages. It was all good!

Kris returned her Pokemon and wandered back towards the festival grounds for a while thereafter. She had caught quite a few Pokemon already, and there was so much more to see and do right then. She enjoyed herself for a bit and was on her way back to her hotel for the night (or morning??) when something peculiar caught her eye.

At first, she didn’t believe it, walking down the street without giving it a second thought. As it registered just what it was, however, she doubled back and looked again. That was…. very much a Beldum right there going through the trash. Kris stared for a few more seconds before the Beldum itself registered that it was being looked at and shifted up and over.

I don’t need another one… Kris new this objectively speaking, but she also knew how rare Beldum were supposedly. She also knew how much her breeder had charged in order to get it and…. Surely someone would want it if not her specifically? And she was in a good position to give it a home in the meantime so— Fishing out a Pokeball, she released its like-minded pair, her own Beldum. “Ok, let’s do this!” And thus the Take Down battle began. Thankfully Kris’s was a little more trained in order to block and dodge while the wild one didn’t have as much skill. Fishing out a Pokeball, Kris tossed it at the Beldum thereafter.
