The numerous powerful battles were starting to wear on Orion, and after some time of it, he’d teleport home to rest for a while. Exchanging his Pokemon and making sure the ones he’d used got the proper care and rest, he’d once more return to the Wastelands. Adrenaline was already coursing through his veins as he wandered the area. Yellow eyes flicked from one tree to the next daring any Pokemon to catch his sights or appear before him.
This… this was fun? So much fun. So much more fun than he could put words to. This was different from any other training session wherein he had less to worry about. Strong Pokemon were rare outside of here. Here? He could walk up unexpectedly on anything and everything and be mauled on sight. It was so… so… cool? Fuck. He wanted to live here almost (ok maybe not considering that would mean he had to keep an eye out for Jazz and just… yeah no). C’mon now where were these fierce badasses?

Wandering through the forest way, Orion caught sight of several Pokemon now and again, but they were quick to move on rather than battle him. Some vague part of him was starting to lose the spark of excitement, but stepping out into a clearing with a giant Feraligatr standing on the banks surely changed that. For a moment, Orion froze eyeing the beast as it seemed to be splashing bank water on itself. As it turned to face him, however, a stomp of foot would be the challenge he was looking for.
Two Pokeballs were fished out, and a Lotad and a Treecko burst from them. “Treecko, Quick Attack in and use Endeavor from behind. Duke, use Giga Drain thereafter,” Orion ordered vaguely aware that he needed to name that Treecko eventually. That Treecko, at least, whizzed forward and around the Feraligatr with little to no problem before slamming his tail into the giant alligator with the power of Endeavor. Crashing forward, the Feraligatr was then hit by the draining power of the Lotad.
Roaring angrily, the Feraligatr forced himself up and spun around, snapping forward and biting the Treecko with a nasty Ice Fang. The Grass type yelped form the cold and scrambled back writhing in pain. Not finished with his revenge, the Feraligatr twisted his tail around and swatted the Lotad into the water. Sure, the move wasn’t as effective, but it was retribution none the less! Duke was much less phased even if now soaking wet. But uh…. Huh. That kinda stung? Eh?
Orion’s teeth grit, but wait no this could be perfect. “Endeavor again then Giga Drain!” he called. The Treecko whirled sideways smashing the Feraligatr with a much stronger Endeavor before using their close proximity to train the giant. The Feraligatr yelped and leapt into the water to avoid more of the drain. “Giga drain, Duke,” Orion called. Still in the water, the Lotad began to drain the Feraligatr instead. The irritated alligator yelped again and jumped back onto land. “Giga Drain once more, Treecko!” And sure enough the feisty Pokemon would steal enough energy to faint the Feraligatr.

As the Feraligatr was defeated, Orion smirked a bit. “Good work you tw—“ A yellow eye flicked sideways as what appeared to be a Slowking could be seen coming up from the water as the Feraligatr slowly sunk down into it again. Another combatant? Heh, this one had the same Type disadvantage as the last. Smirking a bit, he made a gesture over to it. “Treecko, Endeavor, Duke, use Giga Drain,” he ordered.
The Treecko raced forward, slamming into the Slowking with his tail— only for the illusion to break and a Zoroark burst forth. Hissing as his disguise/illusion was shattered, the foxy Pokemon whipped around and slammed into the Treecko with a U-turn before going running towards the Lotad who was still ushering out a Giga Drain. The Treecko hissed as he was smashed with the Bug type move and swayed a little after the fact, barely managing to stand. He’d stolen quite a bit of energy from the last opponent but clearly not enough when it came to this. The Lotad, meanwhile, was hit with a Foul Play and went flipping over in the water.
“Fuck,” escaped from Orion’s mouth through it all. “Tree, Du… “ Staring down the Zoroark now coming at him, Orion found himself running forward slamming a fist at the Zoroark’s jaw. The Dark Illusionist reeled, surprised a human would so openly attack him. Snarling and snapping at the man’s arm, he was left distracted while the Treecko and Lotad recovered enough to both use Giga drains on him sapping him of his energy and restoring their own. Orion, meanwhile, took a bite to the forearm and returned it with a fist to the jaw from his other hand.
The Treecko and Lotad continued to drian the Zoroark as their strange master fought one on one with it. Sapped of his strength slowly but surely, the Zoroark finally backed off from the human to look from him to his Pokemon and back again. Hissing softly, he tried to perk himself up again with an Agility only for the Treecko to smack into his side with a Quick Attack. Tripping sideways, the Zoroark fell into the water and struggled to get up again. Orion straightened some spitting blood onto the grass. “Giga drian,” he ordered the both of them. Each sapped the strength of the Zoroark and finally finished him.

Despite having drained the energy of their foe quite literally until he fainted, the Lotad and Treecko deflated dramatically after the battle. Phew, that had been a lo- ORION?! The Treecko was the first to call out hopping back over and looking up at the bloody mess that was now Orion Verdi. Feeling over his right forearm and the numerous holes that were now spilling dribblets of blood, Orion was pretty sure it hadn’t managed to break the skin. The hand on his forearm then reached up to feel over his face and the bridge of his nose. Ah, some blood, not bad.
Finally looking down at the worried Treecko and uncertain lotad, Orion smirked a bit. “Sorry you two, I didn’t realize what opponent you had,” he sighed bending down. The Treecko felt over his own forearm in a ghosty way, frowned, and then bounded off to search for any sort of leaves or bindings. The Lotad hopped out of the water with a dish of liquid in his leaf. Bending forward, he made a noise encouraging Orion to wash said arm out. The human hesitated before accepting the water and dunking his arm in it. Ah, that did feel better. Maybe he could even wash his face off and— oh. Very nice, a couple leaves to be had from the Treecko.
Upon cleaning up as best he could, Orion stood again and smiled at the both of them. “Thank you two,” he mused before fishing out their Pokeballs. “Take a rest if you would.” They hesitated surely but would allow themselves to be recalled regardless. Sighing softly, Orion looked around slowly. Maybe he should start heading back the way he came. Yes, probably for the best.
Walking for a while, Orion was all too aware of the sounds and sights around him. No matter if there were battles going on or not, Pokemon were moving about, and he was aware of them. He had to be. It was still oddly jarring to see a fucking Kammo-o come out from the trees, however. “Shit,” escaped form Orion immediately as he mentally and physically raced for a Pokemon to release. The ball he’d drop would burst forth a small Lillipup who would stare at the large dragon with big eyes for a moment.
The Kammo-o was less than impressed. Was this the best the human could do? Hah! What a weakling! Raising an arm and starting a Clanging Scales, she would be suddenly stopped short as the Lillipup went bounding at her with a Play Rough. Slammed into, the Kammo-o went crashing into a tree and stared horrified for a moment by the sheer force and magnitude of the small dog.
Orion had been fishing for other Pokemon- any other Pokemon- yet froze upon seeing the motion of his Lillipup. “Arceus fuck,” he chuckled a little shaking his head unbelievingly. “Nice work. Play Rough again!” he called. The Kammo-o was struggling to get up and just barely managed an Iron Defense before the Lillipup went crashing into her again. The attack would do much less damage than before but still have a hard impact on the Kammo-o. “Finish it with Ice Fang!” Orion called. The Kammo-o could only brace herself as the Lillipup then bit down fiercely fainting her.
Well… well damn. “Nice work,” he snickered after the fact.

On defeating the Kammo-o so spectacularly, the Lillipup went bounding back to her still semi-bewildered trainer. Bending down to the small dog Pokemon, Orion slowly smiled. “Very nice, indeed,” he chuckled softly scratching the pup’s ears. “Thank you for your help.” The Lillipup smiled back wagging her tail. Before Orion had to a chance to say more or return her, however, a sound would catch both of their ears.
And there it was, a Delphox of all things, standing with her arms folded and a harsh look on her face. Vaguely, Orion couldn’t help but think of Marceline due to her having the line, but more than that, he was also aware of how strong it was. “Mind helping me out again?” he asked looking down at the Lillipup who yipped and wagged her tail. Of course she would! Orion nodded and rose to standing. Taking out another Pokeball, he released a Mudkip.
The mudfish Pokemon blinked slowly and stared at the Delphox, turning her head one way and then the other before offering a large dumb smile. The Delphox huffed and summoned up some Mystical Fire before shooting it at the two dogs. “Hydro Pump, Mudkip,” Orion ordered. The Mudkip smiled and burst forth with a rush of water that collided with the flames and smashed back into the Delphox. The fox hissed backing up a few steps before summoning up a Light Screen.
“Lillipup, Thunder Fang, Mudkip Yawn,” Orion ordered. The Lillpup leapt forward running at the barrier and making to bite the Delphox. The Mudkip meanwhile Yawned and caused the Delphox to yawn right before being bitten. The Fire Psychic cried out at the attack and swung her bitten arm sideways tossing the Lillipup to the side. Shaking her head, she refused to be drowsy and shot off a Psyshock at the Mudkip instead. “Rock Throw in defense,” Orion stated. The Mudkip quickly summoned up some rocks to take the brunt of the blast.
“Lillipup Thunder Fang again, Mudkip Hydro Pump this time.” With a fierce determination, the Lillipup went bounding forward again to bite the Delphox. The Mudkip summoned up another rush of water and threw it at her as well. Trapped between two attacks, the Delphox took the prior and swept around to avoid the latter. “Mudkip Hydro Pump again!” Orion ordered. Frustrated the Mudkip released more water still, but the Delphox refused to be hit, dodging and swerving around the trees. She did get sprayed a bit belatedly but was able to take that at least.
Summoning up a Shadow Ball, the Delphox launched it back at her foes, namely the Lillipup now. Unfortunately for her, the small dog was unaffected by such moves and readily jumped into it before biting down on her again with more Electricity in her mouth. Shocking the Delphox horribly and paralyzing her, the Lillipup hopped back just in time for another rush of Hydro Pump. This time the maneuver did not miss and crashed into the Delphox fainting her.
