Evolution Imminent?
Please post proof of evo points earned for your Pokémon or notices of using an evo item here, clearly labeling which Pokémon you are attempting to evolve with each request. If you are evolving two Pokémon who earned points in the same thread, please post all relevant links for each one.
Be sure to post a mod summons about your pending evolution request so we're sure to see it.
How to evolve Pokémon: a Guide
Earning Evo Points
With the exception of item-based evolutions, all Pokémon on Horizons evolve through experience. That said, experience can come from many facets of life, and while battling is very common, it is not the only way Pokémon can grow and improve. Experience is measured via "evo points". Several methods for earning them are detailed below.
Do note that there must be genuine, honest effort involved when earning evo points. While the wc for normal posts is only 100, we typically ask at least 150 or so when earning evo points due to the mechanic benefit involved.
If a Pokémon has split evolutions without item or gender requirements, you are free to choose which form it takes. For instance, male Burmy will always be Mothim and female Burmy will always be Wormadam, but which form Wormadam is up to the member. Gendered counterparts cannot be changed later, including Meowstic due to its different move pools, so be sure to use a Genderswap Cookie prior to evolution if you want the other form.
Wurmple can become Silcoon or Cascoon, Tyrogue any of the three Hitmon', and Rockruff any form of Lycanroc. Exeggcute, Pikachu, and Cubone can take either their Kantonian or Alolan forms, member's choice.
when can a Pokémon evolve?
Normal evolutions for caught or starter Pokémon can occur instantly after capture or previous, provided the necessary training points have been provided. A Pokémon that just evolved can evolve again that same day if you train it enough.
Item evolutions have a seven day waiting period. If a Pokémon is captured or has recently evolved, 7 days must pass before it is allowed to evolve via an item. This is simply to keep them from being too quick/easy to obtain for wealthier members.
Recently hatched Pokémon, however, must wait 7 days before a training evolution, and 14 days before an item evolution.
Evolution can be confirmed before any of the above waiting periods, but cannot be implemented before that date. Ex: my egg has hatched and I have earned the points needed to evolve. My evolution is confirmed, but my Pokémon does not actually evolve until the waiting period is over.
Evo Moves
Some Pokémon gain moves upon evolution. On Hori, one such move per Pokémon may be claimed in the Additional Information section of your evo request. Pokémon who earn more than one move can only select one, and will require move techs or move training regimens to get the others later. This only applies to moves marked as "Evolve" on their learn requirements, such as Blaziken learning Blaze Kick.
Moves that simply become retroactively available after evolving-- those that would require a Heart Scale in-game, marked as "Lv1" or "--" in most databases-- are not available through the evo method. For instance, Gallade can learn Slash upon evolution, but must have a Move Tech or regimen to learn Leaf Blade or Night Slash.
Evo Requirements
With the exception of item-based evolutions, all Pokémon on Hori evolve by earning evo points, and how many they need is dependent solely on their evolutionary level.
• Mid-Stage Evolution: 4 points (i.e. Charmander to Charmeleon)
• Final Evolution: 5 points (i.e. Marshtomp to Swampert; Cubone to Marowak)
{How Many Evo Points are Earned?: A Breakdown}
Battling singles:
• 1 base-level ‘mon battle: 1 point + if post is over 350 = 2 points
• 1 evolved ‘mon battle: 2 points + if post is over 350 = 3 points
(In multi-person threads where you have one spawn each, it still counts as one spawn so long as you are only facing one in that post.)
Battling doubles:
• 2 base-level ‘mon battle: 2 points + if post is over 500 = 3 points
• 2 evolved ‘mon battle: 2 points for both being evolved + (no extra point for over 500) = 4 points
• 1 evolved 1 base-level ‘mon battle: 2 points for evolved + 1 point for base-level + (no extra point over 500) = 3 points
(Having two Pokemon in doubles divides these totals equally across both ‘mon except in the case of 1 evolved and 1 base-level ‘mon, where you can give 2 points to the one who battled the evolved ‘mon and 1 point to the one who battled the base-level)
Battling Swarms:
• 1 base-level ‘mon battle: 1 point + if post is over is 350 = 2 points
• 2 base-level ‘mon battle: 2 points + if post is over is 500 = 3 points
• 3 base-level ‘mon battle: 3 points + (no extra point for over 350) = 3 points
(You can break up swarms any way you want to divide the fighting among your Pokemon)
Battling Hordes:
• Regardless of base-level or evolved status, each member of the horde is worth 1 point.
• A single Pokemon can earn up to 3 points for battling 3 ‘mon in the horde.
(You are free to divide up battle points as you desire in a horde so long as no single ‘mon has more than 3 points.)
In-Character Training:
Writing out your Pokémon doing any kind of training (practicing a new move, evasive maneuvers, etc) can yield evo points.
• Each basic post: 0.5 points
• 350+ word post: 1.5 points
Non-modded Battles:
Pre-plotted battles, sparring threads, basically anything that’s not spawned by a Staff member:
• 0.5 points per opponent each post. (Ex: in a 2v2 match, 2 opponents = 1 point to split between your Pokemon, for 0.5 each. In a 1v2 match, 2 opponents = 1 point going solely to your one participant)
Performances:
• For performance posts (Coordinators), as long as the 'mon involved is the main star of the show: 1 point
Friendship - Pokémon You Already Own:
To earn evo points for Pokemon via friendship, we mostly look for posts that have focused positive interaction.
• Standard post: 1 point
However, many posts of casual interaction throughout the thread (ex: taking a walk together with constant mention of the companion, but not a lot of specific focus) may also add up to between 0.5 and 1 point. When linking a thread and explaining as much, a mod will determine if the Pokémon was prominent enough to earn a bit via friendship. This is the most inconsistent and subjective means of gaining evo points.
Friendship - Capturing New Pokémon:
When capturing a Pokémon by befriending it, it is possible to earn evo points toward the newly captured Pokémon, as a balance for the fact that you're giving up points you would earn for your other Pokémon by battling. This comes in several tiers depending on how much effort you spend on befriending the Pokémon.
• Bare bones capture: 0.5 points
• 350+ words: 1 point
• 500+ words: 2 points
• 750+ words: 3 points
The word count mentioned must be devoted primarily to the Pokémon in question. If you have 300 words of thinking about who to invite to the dance and 50 words of throwing some food at a Pokémon, that doesn't count as 350 words of friendship capture. The inverse, though-- a little tangent thinking amid focusing on the Pokémon-- is fine.

Evolution Methods in More Detail
{Method Number 1: Battling}
The most common form of training, Battling can be done in Catch or Training threads against wild Pokémon, in Mission threads against spawns or mod-controlled NPCs, or in Player-vs-Player matches.
This is of course great for competitive trainers, but sometimes the player doesn't mind writing a battle but the character doesn't want one. In such a case, we recommend writing the spawned Pokémon as very hostile or inventing a hostile NPC trainer to "force" your character to fight, or perhaps in the case of multiple spawns writing one Pokémon picked on by the other(s) so that your character might step in to defend the victim, etc. There are many reasons one might find to battle!
In some cases, a Pokémon may have displayed skill and tenacity while in battle, but lost all the same. Fortunately, winning isn't everything! In the face of a loss, one must simply take the lesson to heart and get stronger in the face of adversity! If you have any evolution proof that shows any of your companions having fought to the fullest but ended up losing, then those proofs won't just go to waste; they can also be used for evolution confirms.
Finally, players may choose to train others to battle their Pokémon for them, though be sure you have the details of how long they'll keep your Pokémon worked out.
{Method Number 2: Performing}
Coordinating is also a great way for a Pokémon to get a good workout, and as such evo points can be earned from participating in Contests and Showcases as well as putting on your own personal shows in threads. Of course, one doesn't need to be a dedicated Coordinator to practice the art of coordinating.
Ideas for threads: a company hiring a performer to help promote their businesses, being a performer at a birthday party, putting on an exhibition performance in town to try to gain popularity as a performer, etc! As long as your Pokémon plays a notable part in the show, it will benefit from the experience.
{Method Number 3: IC Effort Training}
Not all "training" involves battling! Some simply tests a Pokémon’s physical prowess, while some also tests their trainer's and their bond as a cohesive unit. Anything that tests your Pokémon's strength, endurance, precision, etc might qualify as "training".
Examples include things like weight-lifting, running laps, or practicing moves or simple physical maneuvers against an inanimate target, such as a punching bag, boulder, or tree. Pokémon can do these things under their trainer's guidance, or it can be a bonding experience done together. Another idea might be teaching your Pokémon to respond to special commands, such as keyed whistles, hand signals, and the like. There are loads of possibilities!
{Method Number 4: Training Regimens}
Effectively the same in theory as writing out training as described above, but characters can do a limited amount of it "off-screen" every week by utilizing the Training Grounds forum. Simply post a thread there and once a week you can post in it to receive free evo points or move slots.
More about training regimens can be found in the Threads tab of the Guidebook!
{Method Number 5: Friendship}
Most wild Pokémon are naturally wary of humans to some extent, whether they are downright hostile or simply a bit shy at first. Some are predispositioned toward friendliness, and may be very sweet, very cooperative, and/or share a common goal with their new trainer. However, the sort of friendship that inspires evolution goes deeper than this, and requires truly getting to know one another.
Some friendships take time, while others are flame-forged. Pursuing a common goal, overcoming hardship together, or a trainer coming to a Pokémon's aid in a time of need may build friendship quickly. However, just being around each other long enough and working together on simple mundane tasks can also forge a powerful bond.
Friendship is the most inconsistent and subjective method of evolution as a result, but any clear active effort put into bonding with your Pokémon should generally be just fine.
{Method Number 6: Items / Stones}
Some Pokémon require the aid of certain items to evolve. The evolutionary items aren’t cheap in shops, but can sometimes be found for free in certain treasure areas. Note that Pokémon that evolve by an item + something in-game only require the item on Hori. For instance, rather than leveling up a Sneasel with a Razor Claw at night, you only need to use the Razor Claw, same as you'd use a Stone in-game.
Be careful, though: most species lose access to some moves when evolving via Stone. Be sure to check their movesets and teach them anything you want that is exclusive to their previous stage before evolving. (Of course, there are some, especially Eevee, who gain moves as well!)
To evolve this way, simply post the request form, and a Staff member will remove the appropriate item from the character’s inventory, no links required. Just be sure you have the right one on hand!
How to do it?
Simply copy the code below, and make sure you have the corresponding evolution item in your character's inventory before posting up the request and linking it in the Mod Summons!
Pokémon being evolved: Pikachu? Eevee? Mudkip?
Method of Evolution used: Battling / Training / Performance / Friendship / Item-based. For the first 4 methods, combining any of them together is perfectly fine. For Item-Based evos, just have the proper item in your character's Inventory.
