The sun was fading beyond the event horizon as Orion made his way up over the stone bridge that lead to the Cathedral of Carrefor’s Dark Gym. The change in the season had him bundling up even more than usual with a dark blue long coat over a green turtle neck sweater. His jeans were intact and long, going all the way to the black combat boots at his feet. The subtle crunch of boot on dust and new snow echoed in Orion’s ears.
Coming to the front door of the gym, Orion allowed his head to fall backwards some to guestimate the size and stature of it. How have I never noticed this before… Well, considering it was on the outskirts of town, and he wasn’t one to often visit Carrefor, Orion supposed there were multiple reasons. A small shake of head was given before he pressed onwards, inwards, through to the interior.
Yellow eyes flickered around taking in the walls and the ceilings as his eyes caught them. It really was a church wasn’t it? Weird.. Orion smirked to himself and shrugged his old shoulders. “Hello? Anyone here?” he called half wondering if the Gym Leader intended to try and spook him or something.

Zane's head snapped up as his doors opened, and a familiar voice echoed in it's corridors. With a click, Zane lit the faux torches, allowing some light to fill the room. He had been sitting with his Teddiursa, watching movies on his phone when Orion arrived. This was a person he was not yet familiar with, but they to be here on business. The lanky blonde leaped to his feet, offering a handshake as he neared Orion.
"Greetings, my name is Zane, and I'd like to welcome you to the Hulle Granz Cathedral. It also serves as the Dark gym here in Carrefor." Zane hadn't had a guest in quite some time, so having the other male around was.. odd. "Silly question, but I'm guessing you are here to challenge me? If that's the case, what style can I interest you in? 3 on 3 or 6 on six singles OR 4 on 4 doubles."

A stream of fire light filled the room, and Orion’s eyes flashed around drawing in the details that were exposed now. Another motion caught his eye, however, and as what he guessed was the Gym Leader came forward, Orion took the hand briefly in a shake. “Thank you, my name is Orion,” he answered very briefly circling up the introductions smoothly enough.
As the question was asked, however, a smirk did come to his features. He wondered how many people came here not knowing what it was- or assuming that it was an actual church rather than a full-fledged Gym. From Zane’s question, he had to wonder— for another day, anyways. “I am here for a challenge~” he assured, his tone light and airy. “I’m—“ He hesitated, not entirely sure he wanted to do this to himself given what he already had planned out and what Pokemon he had on him but… “I’m actually interested in doubles~ Four on four sounds interesting.” In more ways than one.

Zane was taken aback by Orion’s choice. He hadn’t had many challenges, but those he had we’re partial to the single format. So, when the man chose doubles, Zane actually had to think about what pokemon he would use. With a slight nod, Zane retrieved two pokeball, and opened them to release a Sableye as well as a shiny Spiritomb. ”Alright Link, Pandemonium, let’s give them a warm welcome, shall we?” The pair of pokemon just seemed to make noise, but also seemed to agree with their trainer.
Zane nodded again and sharply inhaled, being a smidge out of practice with his own introduction. ”Welcome to the Carrefor Dark Gym. As Challenger, the first moves of battle will be granted to you. While battling, the lights of the Gym will shut down for two turns for every three done with the lights still up. With that said, whenever you are ready, you can begin!”

Sableye and Spiritomb- and then of course, the darkness gimmick of sorts to deal with. Alright then. Time to test this out then. Orion's lips quirked as he stepped back some and fished out his chosen Pokemon. "Both of you, stay strong." It would be his only encouragement before the tiny red spheres were tossed upwards. An Ampharos and Klinklang took front and center very ready for what was to come.
"Both of you get ready," was the only command to be given, but on this simple cue, the Klinklang began to spin wildly using a Magnetic Flux followed immediately by a Gear Up. A wild silver light encompassed the Klinklang but then also seemed to spread to and resonate off the Ampharos. The latter seemed to puff up with a sudden growth of wool and then seemed to spark with electricity.
"Thunder." Spark, sparkle, sparking brighter and brighter still, a Thunder went rushing straight at the Sableye in particular. Well that was one way to start off, apparently.

Zane was taken aback by the opening that Orion had used. He had seen some intense things, but the addition of a second Pokémon made things.. different. Difficult might have been a better word to use as Zane was forced into a corner rather early on, and wasn't a huge fan of that. The man sighed, knowing what he was going to have to do unless he wanted to sideline Link in the opening moments. "Link, use Protect, keep that Thunder from hitting you", he called, the Sableye crossing his arms, forming a barrier around his tiny body.
Zane had considered asking him to simply dodge the move, but it was a small, indoor space, and it probably wouldn't have worked. As the bolt of electricity blasted the Sableye's shielding, Zane looked toward his Shiny Spiritomb, "Pan, Nasty Plot and then blast the Ampharos with a Dark". The Spiritomb took on a red hue around its outline, powering himself up before releasing a burst of Dark energy at the tall, electric sheep.
Link, Sableye, 100% Protected against Thunder.
Pandemonium, Spiritomb, 100%, SpAtk+2 Used Nasty Plot Used Dark Pulse @ampharos 36.7-43.3% 20% to cause Flinch

The impregnable barrier that kept the electricity at bay caused the electricity to glisten bright in the area, reflecting in the glasses of one Orion Alim-Verdi for a brief moment. Hmph. If it had been storming, it surely would have cut through it at least a little bit. Orion pushed up his glasses as measures were taken, and fire was returned.
Nasty Plot and Dark Pulse- What a nasty combination. Yes, Orion realized how dumb that was, but he still found it funny. "Magnetic Flux," was his only initial order. "Marie, get ready to take it." The Ampharos tensed. The Klinklang spun wildly increasing its and its ally's defense once more. The Ampharos braced and tanked the attack. She took it well, barely whimpering despite how bad it could have been. Orion smirked a bit. Good, good.
"Klinklang, Gear Up," Orion ordered again. The Klinklang whirled about wildly again increasing its and the Ampharos's power yet again. The light of the shared power reverberated through the room again. "Ampharos, Thunder again this time at the Spiritomb." A call reverberated from the sheep as she drew up a fierce amount of power and sent it crashing towards the Spiritomb in retribution. Looks like they weren't about to back up or back off from that little game for now.
Klinklang - Plus - Genderless (100%) +2DF, +2SPDEF, +2ATK, +2SPATK -Used Magnetic Flux right before the Dark Pulse. -Used Gear Up
Ampharos - Plus - Female (100%-16= 84%) +5DF, +2SPDEF, +2ATK, +2SPATK -Tanked the Dark Pulse [originally 31% / 2 for tanking = 16%] - did not flinch this round but used a move slot - Used Thunder (@spiritomb 103.7 - 122.4%)

And that was that, another bolt of electricity dropping down. This time, however, it was falling on the Spiritomb, and Zane wasn't quick enough to react. The Spiritomb sucked back into its rock in defeat, calling for Zane to return him. "Fuck it..", the man said a bit louder than he would have liked as he tossed his next pokeball airborne. The ball snapped Open to release a blue Krookodile, showing the Leader's cliché. "This isn't going to end well, but alright, Link use Dark Pulse on Ampharos. Daila, wait till he's done then Bulk an Earthquake "
The Sableye waggled his fingers as he began to gather energy, and the large croc gave herself some added bulk. The dark energy blasted from the tiny, green creature, and the croc lifted her right foot. "Wait for it.. ", Zane murmured to himself as Daila's foot slammed down, shifting the ground, and sending pillars of earth out everywhere. One of which sent Link flying into a nearby wall, "Link, recover!", Zane called out, the Sableye healing himself as he caught his breath.

A wild, almost feral look flashed in Orion's gleaming yellow eyes as the Spiritomb went down. The Ampharos twirled a bit with a bright smile on her features. The Klinklang ground along all the same. That was one down. As the Krookodile was released, however, a 'tch' sound escaped from Orion. There was no time for her to dodge both the Dark Pulse and the incoming Earthquake, so the best he could do was "Magnet Rise," came the order. The Ampharos sparked with power, raising herself up off the ground but being hit with the Dark Pulse in response. She winced, as did Orion.
With so much focus on the Ampharos, the Klinklang would not be given orders in time. It took it with a wild cry of deep pain that had Orion jolting hard and fast. Shit- shit. Gritting his teeth, he gave more orders now. "Magnetic Flux and Gear Up," he ordered yet again of the creature. It whirled wildly doing as was asked for possibly the last time if they didn't think up something quick.
Well, no time like the present, he guessed. "Marie!" The Ampharos knew by the tone what was about to transpire. Orion flicked his hand, pulling the knife with the Keystone in it. The Ampharos flipped around the Ampharosite that had been around her neck but hard to see from someone looking right at her. A small pose was made of both of them as they began to synch, and the Ampharos shone bright and true before breaking the light and standing in a new, powerful form. She would no longer inherit power from the Klinklang, but it was hardly needed right then.
MEGA Ampharos - Mold Breaker - Female (84%-15=69%) +6DF, +3SPDEF, +3ATK, +3SPATK Magnet Rise [1/5] -Took Dark Pulse [-15%] -Magnet Rise used [1/5] - unaffected by ground moves -Beyond Evolution! Mega Evolution!
Klinklang - Plus - Genderless (100%-71 = 29%) +3DF, +3SPDEF, +3ATK, +3SPATK -Took the Earthquake [71%] -Used Magnetic Flux and Gear Up to raise stats once again.

Zane was finding himself further and further away from actually managing a win as turns passed. His ace for getting rid of that damned sheep had flopped, so it was pretty much moot from there. His focus shifted, figuring he could probably get the Klinklang off the field at least. Or maybe that wasn't going to work either, at this point, Zane wasn't really all that sure about his strategy, but hey, maybe something would turn it around. "Alright then, Link use a Shock Wave, Daila Thunder fang. Aim for the gear, and lets try to be done with it. "
Confidence was certainly within Zane's voice but he really wasn't feeling it. At least his team did, the Sableye wiggling his fingers as the croc stormed forward. Link let loose a bolt of electricity as Daila moved in, trying to get in tandem with the bolt, and clamp her big jaw on the gear.
Sableye used Shock Wave 13.4-16% Krookodile used Thunder Fang 27.5-32.5%

As attention was drawn to the Klinklang, Orion grit his teeth. As much as he wanted to protect it, the support Pokemon had already done its job in strengthening his Mega Ampharos, and she had already gone beyond that point now. This wasn't a chess game per say, but he had other Pokemon, ones that could be more useful in the grand scheme. "It's alright, Gear," he called as the electricity rushed at the Klinklang in the form of a wave and maw attack. The Klinkang and Ampharos both understood the meaning of that (even though the Ampharos cringed in response). The shockwave hit, and the Klinkang tolerated it. The Krookodile's bite came in right after, and that was it. Falling back, the Steel Pokemon was returned pretty quickly before Orion flipped up another Pokeball.
A Ludicolo burst forth, dancing wildly and offering a bright grin forward. She was so happy to be here omg hi! "Ampharos Brick Break the Krookodile," Orion snapped. The Ampharos summoned up Fighting power in her paw and went rushing at the Krookodile with every inclination of taking it down in retribution. "Ludicolo Rain Dance then Bubble Beam the Sableye," came the order. The Ludicolo spun about happily summoning up a sprinkle inside before forming some bubbles from the excess water and sending them crashing at that very Sableye.
