"Oh definitely," Nik replied. "I mean they should have plenty but best to bring our own to be safe too." Otherwise they'd get one good drink and then stuck with all the crap lol. Anyway, Nik expected there might be more like beer-beer, and they kind of wanted to take some weak-ass super fruity wine coolers instead. Something it was hard to get drunk on but a nicer flavor that'd help them maintain just a light buzz.
"It'll be the last night of the festival, after the contest since Mia's judging that. I gotta go watch Sera and Lucien anyway so you could go with me for that or meet us after if you've got other plans." As their phone buzzed once more, they grinned. "Also, apparently Vesta won't bake Mia cookies, so sounds like we know at least the first thing to show her up, eh~?" ;P
Nik didn't stay for the final announcements after the contest, and they'd made it clear they didn't want anyone to tell them until tomorrow, either. If one of their friends won, they'd feel obligated to celebrate with them, and if Sera in particular had another upsetting event like last year, Nik would feel obligated to stick around and comfort her. So they just didn't want to know. Tonight was for Kearney family fun and proving Orion was the better chef/cook/baker/food-makey-person; tomorrow was for contest aftermath.

Orion hadn’t ended up going to see the contest after all. Some work had cropped up, and he was kind of restless for whatever reason anyways. Might as well go get that out of the way and then go home and make some super fresh cookies and cakes and a hefty ton of other things too, actually. He probably could have spent the entire day in ‘prep’ but hah well oh well? As his phone buzzed with his alarm reminding him of the time, Orion fished it out and texted out.

Right after that, he checked his counts and then fished out a Pokeball, releasing Kara his Alazakam and explaining the situation. She rolled her eyes but obliged to teleport him and the numerous baked goods off to wherever it was that this was going down. He was quick to remember the drinks and grabbed those last minute before checking again and triple checking before finally giving the ok. Alrighty. They were off then.

Alright! Contest done! The Judging took weirdly longer than she'd ever expected, or at least it felt longer maybe? She didn't know, how could counting scores take so long when she was scoring all the way through the contest. Blegh, something about the others needing to compare scores after seeing the later entries blah blah blah can you let her go now please she has family packing to help with!
Waiting for the final announcements to be made so she didn't seem rude, Nik was actually likely to make it to her parent's house before she was, Vesta already there and helping Mark load up Mia's dad's trunk with a few boxes, some of fireworks, some just mass collections of food in tubaware. The red head glanced across to Nik, smiling a little brightly despite past interactions. She'd sort of been in a good mood non stop lately, between Mia calming down a lot and...well. The proposal~ Ah she was still giddy about that on some level.
"Ah, Nik~ You mind helping us here? We only have a handful more boxes. You'd be surprised how much Mama Kearney packs for everyone..." She put down her latest box and wiped a light bit of sweat from her brow, having been cooking and helping with the packing during the whole contest, glancing over Nik."Apparently your boyfriend should be coming with us?"

Nik was en route when they got Orion's text, and made sure he had Mia's parents' address so Kara could see it on the map and get a good read.
Upon arriving, Nik smiled back at Vesta, albeit weaker than she had. Most of the time they liked the idea of her, and Mia being giddy over something Vesta-related sometimes made them kind of jealous but plenty of other times was really cute. If asked in the context of 'what do you think of her', Nik thought she was nice enough... but in the context of being around her for long... ehhhh.... There was a disconnect they couldn't quite pin and they couldn't even be sure it wasn't just themself being an ass. As always, they did their best to ignore it. "Yeah, lemme just load these too."
They'd picked up some of their and Orion's favorite drinks to bring, and now put them next to the coolers as Vesta asked about Orion. "Mm?" They smirked. "Nah I don't have a boyfriend." It grew to a grin. "My fiance is coming though~" He should be here any--
-VWOOSH-
"Hey~!♥" Oh that was-- more food than Nik 'expected' but in retrospect it should have been exactly how much they expected. How had they lived with him this long without growing to expect this much baking lol. "Ah we brought food, too, where should we put these?" they asked sort of toward everyone as they went to help relieve him of some. While helping pack those, they noted, "Babe, this is Vesta, and Papa Kearney. And I guess you've kinda met Mark." When he and Karla wheeled in birthday cake Mia at the very least, ha. But at least a few times in passing when Mark was working as Nik's weekend receptionist at the gym, Nik was pretty sure.

Uhmph. The stomach lurch of teleportation had gotten much less noticeable since Orion had started to use it as a stable means of transport and Kara had evolved, but for whatever reason that one sucked.. Orion rolled his shoulders and stretched briefly.
“Hey babe~” he smiled briefly at Nik. “Thanks Kara,” he commented sideways The Alakazam gave a small weird salute before making a hand gesture to Orion’s pocket. He snorted but returned her as she wanted for now before switching gears to Nik talking to what he guessed was Mia’s girlfriend or whatever? Oh, yep, apparently so. Good timing, Nik. Mark though? Yellow eyes flickered over the kid and squinted a moment. Oh yeah, he… kind of vaguely remembered him maybe. “Sup?” he asked indiscriminately. “Thanks for having us.” Guess that was one way to follow up there.

As the Kearney's filed out of the house one by one with the stuff they were loading out into the truck, Papa Kearney dusting off his hands as he took in Nik. Mia had shown him pictures of the new Nik but all the same there was a brief moment where he had to take the reality of it in, standing just a little behind Vesta. "Good to see ya made it!~ 'Ere just put those extra snacks up here why dont'cha?" Vesta stepped back a little as Nik and Orion loaded up their stuff into the truck, Vesta smirking a little at the earlier fiance comment, twiddling her fingers in a small wave to Orion himself. "Bonjour.~"
In a brief flash Mia would show up herself, her Gallade behind her holding the back of her jacket. She lifted a finger as if to say something, before instantly turning into her Dad's chest, her back lurching and Vesta jolting a little, walking over and rubbing Mia's back as Papa Kearney just lightly petted her head. Mia's stomache was just getting a heavy reminder of why, apart from the fact she felt it was weirdly lazy, she hated teleportation.
"I'm good just....uuuugh. Knew I was running late..." Pushing off her dad, she rolled back her shoulders and tried to just take a deep, fresh breath of dusty underground air, waving over at Nik and Orion with a still somewhat pale face. "Hey guys. Sorry, end of the contest took a little longer than expected."

"Yeah, wouldn't miss it!" Nik answered Papa Kearney. They took a few minutes to help load before Mia appeared.
Spinning, their face lit up. "Hey you!" Their first instinct was to go make sure she was settled from the port and then kiss her, but... They felt awkward enough being too affectionate with Orion watching, let alone Vesta. So... They didn't.
With Mia's contest l8ne though, they reminded her, "No spoilers!" Then, a bit more sincerely to the whole garage. "Like seriously, no spoilers, I might need to leave if things went the wrong way and if rather be blissfully ignorant for now lol." Yup that was an out loud "lol" but oh well.

A small nod had been given to Vesta before Orion switched gears. After everything was put up, Orion stretched a bit slowly. As Mia appeared, though, Orion found himself briefly glancing from Mia to Nik and then very briefly to Vesta. Something altogether weird seeped into his veins. Shaking his head, he refocused. “Ah, not too late,” he assured with a small shrug. He didn’t think this had a time limit on it or anything though who knew, hah. He was briefly curious about the events of the contest considering what emphasis Nik had put on it but eh, whatever yeah? “I assume most of us are riding in the back?” he asked on a different note.

Vesta smirked and giggled as Mia caught her bearings, letting the blonde lean on her a little too till she fully regained her sense of balance, Mia giving her a light kiss on the cheek before she managed to get on her own two feet, stretching her arms over her head and chuckling at Nik's own words. "Fine fine, no spoilers, I doubt anyone here was watching it other than me anyway."
"Your mother had it on the TV so we could all watch you.~" Vesta corrected her with a smirk, folding her arms over her chest. Mia just rolled her eyes and shot her eyes back through the door in the side of the garage, waving to her mom who was just picking up her own car keys before she addressed Orion's question.
"Well actually we're taking 3 cars this year, what with the 3 additional guests. We were actually planning for the back of the truck to be for the dogs." On cue Vesta gave a little whistle, 5 canines barrelling out of the house, Oscar, Vesta's mightyena runing up to her side and sitting proud, Jean, Luc, and Jean-luc, day, night, and dusk lycanroc in that order (also missing a tail, eye, and ear respectfully) all jumping around the new person, smelling Orion's own Canine's on him. Finally, hobbling with just one front paw, Picard came out, Mia scooping him up into her arms and scratching his rocky collar. "Ves dosn't like us to keep them in Pokeballs...so we can each just pick a car and split up, unless..." She tipped her head back, calling to her sister. "Karla? You cool if we take yours as a group?"
A quiet 'sure" came back, likely called from an upstairs room and Mia smiled back at the others. "There, we can all get in one car together...if you guys want of course." Mia eased down Picard onto the back of the truck, the rest of the dogs getting up themselves, Luc actually helping the others get on since he could manage on his hind legs.

Ahhh, yeah, that made sense. Nik supposed they and Orion could teleport or even get a cab or something but as long as it was all planned for it should--
That whistle broke the air, and the doggos came barreling. Nik turned to watch Orion's face expectantly, eager for the imminent melting.
They'd wind up moving closer to Mia to scratch Picard a bit as well (he was their favorite) while she asked Karla about the car(la lol).
At her question, they nodded. "Yeah, that'd probably be-..." They turned slowly to Orion. "Babe, do you wanna ride with the good boys?"

For the dogs? The whistle and sounds of feed already had Orion grinning, but the minute he saw them, he might as well have been a kid in a candy store. “LOOKATTHEM,” slurred out right before he collapsed on his knees to pet these glorious puppers. Shit, shit, shit. If he had known, he would have brought his own, and it would really have been a pack then wouldn’t it! Hell yesss what good boys. Such soft fur and bright eyes and yes all of you were getting snuggled deal with it.
He eased up as they got in the back, and the goofiest grin held high on his features. “I hell sure wouldn’t mind,” he answered back to Nik with that cheesy grin still there. He also wouldn’t mind going in a different car or mind anything right then apparently. What good boys. What a great mood upper.

"Oh I mean..." Mia was a little surprised Orion would be driving seperately, but looked between him and the Pokemon climbing into the truck. It felt like they might be ostricizing him a bit but...hey if he WANTED to go with the dogs..."I'm sure there'd be space, plus it'd leave some extra space in Karla's car so...Ves, you want Oscar to come with us?"
The black dog by Vesta's side looked up to the red head, who smiled and easily nodded, though she did giggle at how much Orion was melting in the presence of the Lycanroc's. "Sure, we can keep Picard too.~ I'll keep him on my lap if you don't mind driving?"
"Sure thing, glad that works out...you really good to get in the truck Orion?" Even as she said this Mia was moving to the car out front with Picard, Vesta dipping inside the house to grab Karla's keys, and Oscar eagerly waiting by the boot/trunk of the car, eager to hop in. The Lycanroc's too were realizing they'd get a fourth passanger, and midday and dusk were both barking excitedly, eager to get their passanger on board.

Nik had been so enamored with the sight of Orion slowly dissolving and becoming one with the mass of fur and tongues surrounding him that they belatedly realized they hadn't really thought through their proposal. Orion getting to ride with the rest of the wolves? Perfect, A+, adorable, good shit. Nik riding in a car with just Vesta and Mia? Somewhat less good shit. Being in a house with both was one thing, but a car was so small and-- and the trip was not that fucking far, brain, settle down. It wasn't like a cross-country road trip, it was just a brief drive 'upstairs', chill.
Assuming they'd be in the back seat, Nik noted, "I can hold whatever if needed, too. Including but not limited to Oscar or Picard." Heh.
With Orion still on the ground in the dogpile, kissing him was not the most intuitive gesture at the moment, so Nik instead settled for ruffling/scratching his head affectionately a moment and teasing "Play nice, boy~" before snickering and telling him more seriously, "See you in a few, babe." They went ahead and loaded up, then, letting Mia or Vesta stash anything in their lap or otherwise on/around them if needed.
