So it's been almost a year since our last full contest and over a year since we tried a battle round. So! Since Last year the Star Festival was established as an annually recurring event, we've decided to bring it back, including but not limited to a contest!
To make things a little more fun and accessible, we'll be trying a new format this time.
The Appeal and Performance threads will go up at the same time and run simultaneously. In-character, one is an earlier night, but you don't have to post on them in order, or even post in both at all! Also, the Appeal round will not have a set theme, letting performers use it to show what they're about.
Each round will have separate prizes, in ADDITION to Overall prizes for the highest total scores across all rounds. This means you could compete in and win one round while judging a different one, and that there will be many prizes, etc.
You DO NOT need to sign up to compete in appeals or performamces.
The battle round is a bit of a tossup as is, and given that plus needing to pair folks, here's what we're gonna do.
-- If less than 8 characters or less than 4 players sign up for battle, we won't do a battle round due to low interest.
-- If 8-11 chars played by at least half as many unique players sign up, we'll do a sort of "trial" battle round, which will have it's own prizes, but will NOT factor into the Overall score.
-- If at least 12 chars played by at least 6 members sign up, we'll do the battle round in full!
In either of the latter 2 cases, battle rounds should be 4-10 battle posts each, min/max. Extra flavor before or after the battle won't be penalized.
We ALSO need judges, so please sign up if you're willing to judge any number of rounds.
Currently, the plan is to start on April 1 or right after, and to run for a month and a half to give everyone plenty of time! So please REPLY HERE to sign up if interested, and be sure to specify if you wanna judge or be a battle participant. (Judges can participate, but cannot win rounds they judge.)
